St. Peter’s UCC Wishes Pastor Poe Good Luck On His New Assignment

Article Image Alt Text

Seventeen years ago, David Poe moved his family to New Haven to become the new Pastor. There were plenty of challenges and changes on the horizon, with the biggest projects being the expansion of the lobby, improvements in ADA accessibility and upgrading lighting and sound systems. Pastor Poe led the way and also cared for the spiritual health of his congregation. Whenever volunteers were needed for projects, Pastor Poe was first to volunteer.

There was a full house for his last service at 10 a.m. this past Palm Sunday. As the service was coming to an end, gifts were given and a heartwarming story from Randy Schwentker was recounted to the congregation. Bob Mueller remarked that “it was good to see the church so full.”

With church services by Zoom being the operative way for members to attend church this last year, warm bodies in church has not been common.

David goes onto to become an interim pastor at Churches which are in transition periods between losing a pastor to bringing in a new pastor. He has an assignment to be interim pastor for the UCC in Weldon Spring, and will be assisting them for the next 12-18 months. David and his family have moved from their New Haven home to their new home in Washington. He will be commuting to Weldon Spring until his next assignment follows. He thanked the congregation for their gifts and assured all that he would be around sometimes to help with ongoing projects.

David and his family are wished the best for this next chapter in their lives.
