COVID-19 Cases Swell In Franklin County

Franklin County reported 12 new cases of COVID-19 last week, including six on Thursday, June 4.

As of Monday, June 1, there were 140 cases and the county was down to 15 active. 

There were 13 active cases on June 2.

According to Monday’s reports, there have now been 152 cases and 21 cases are active. There have been 114 recoveries.

Seventeen people have died, the latest a 94-year-old Union woman. Her death was reported Tuesday, June 2.

Of the active cases, 11 are countywide while 10 reside in skilled nursing facilities. Through most of the pandemic, the active cases have tilted towards the skilled nursing facilities. 

New Cases

Presiding Commissioner Tim Brinker said that five of the six cases reported Thursday were affiliated with Sunset Health Care Center in Union.

Two of the patients are employees and three are residents.

The employees have been identified as two males, ages 33 and 57 of St. Clair and Pacific respectively.

The other patients are males ages 29, 55 and 62.

The sixth case is a 62-year-old Washington man.

No new reports were provided Friday or during the weekend. Brinker’s report Monday identified four new patients.

Two of the patients are from Catawissa, identified as a 30-year-old male and 62-year-old female. An 83-year-old Union woman and 71-year-old Luebbering man are the other new cases.

The latest recovery is an 84-year-old Washington woman.
