Retiring ECC Boardmember Shows Appreciations To Patrons

To The Editor:

After being involved at East Central College for the better part of my life, in a variety of aspects, it is time to replace tired blood with new blood.

I want to show appreciation to the voters in the East Central College area for giving me the opportunity to serve as trustee for the past 12 years. It has been an honor and a privilege.

I also want to show my gratitude to East Central for allowing me to be involved with the foundation for over 30 years, and the softball program for over 20 years.

My involvement with East Central began over 50 years ago when a co-worker at the New Haven newspaper asked me to attend some of the early steering committee meetings in Union to discuss the building of a community college in the Franklin County area. Although I made the decision years before not to attend high school, I guess I felt a local college would be a good thing for our area. Thus began my love and support for East Central College.

I am very proud of the college, and have been for many years. East Central has given me much more than I was ever able to give back to it.

With good leadership, I hope it can continue to become even better. The college must always work to make sure that its students are the No. 1 reason for the college. At East Central, as well as in our personal lives, decisions need to be made using good common sense and treating others the way we want to be treated.

I have always said, and I truly believe, that East Central College is one of the best things that has ever happened in the Franklin County area. I thank God for all the blessings He has given East Central and I pray that He continues to bless the college in the future.
