2021 NH Youth Fair Crowns Queen And Extends Cornhole Extra Night

There were seven lovely contestants at this year’s New Haven Youth Fair Queen Contest. Emilee Hinten, McKenzie Pecaut, Hannah Borcherding, Sheny Delgado, Caroline Otten, Lydia Shockley and Ava Vandegriffe each competed for prizes, including scholarships, as well as for the all important title. After the talent show, Caroline Otten was crowned 2021 Fair Queen as well as Miss Congeniality with both a $1,000 and $200 scholarship. Sheny Delgado received First Runner-Up and a $700 scholarship. Second Runner-Up was McKenzie Pecaut and the recipient of a $500 scholarship.

Impressively, the ladies “went from dresses to dirt” in a matter of minutes, spending time in the muddy Pig Scramble before engaging in other courtly duties throughout the fair.

Meanwhile, the Cornhole Tournament was so much fun it stretched over two nights. This may have been due to players from 50 different teams competing, each making their best tosses right up until the severe weather sirens went off Friday night. Many loud cheers of excitement were heard when 38 teams formed Saturday for an impromptu tournament.

On Friday night, Josh Nobel and Kyle Mantle won the $600 championship prize. Rob Rolfing and Doug Rosenburg received $420 for their second place win. Then Lewis and Ty Martinez took third and the $180 prize.

Saturday’s winners were Brandon Moore and Steven Brewer. Luke Gerlemann and Mackenzie Pecaut took second. Third place was awarded to Jeff and Austin Wurtz.

Congratulations to all winners of both the Queen Contest and the Cornhole Tournament. With luck, next year’s festivities won’t be quite so damp but will be just as much fun.

Additionally, the cancelled Truck & Tractor Pull has been rescheduled for Saturday, September 25!
