Celebrating Father’s Day In, Around, And With New Haven Residents

Everybody celebrates Father’s Day a little differently and some recall what they did if their father has passed on. Here are a few random stories from New Haven area residents and what they expect or what they remember. Many celebrate with a meal, but all celebrate with love for their Dad.

Emily Moreno will make shrimp cocktails for her father, Raul, from her Mother’s special recipe. The day is all about food and family.

Judy Rice will send her 96 year old father a box of cookies, nuts and candy that he can share with his 98 year old wife. They have been on lock down from COVID in an assisted living facility, and a little care package from Judy would cheer them up.

Lance Stroheker will plant a yellow rose on his property in memory of his dad. He will also call his brother and brother-in-law and wish them a Happy Father’s Day because, he says, he has always been bad at sending cards.

Evelyn LaBoube will celebrate this year with her husband at her daughter’s house for dinner. When Evelyn’s father was alive, they would have a big family meal with all the grandkids and great-grandkids at the family farm out towards Beaufort.

David and LuAnn Luecke will start the day in their shop taking care of people buying last minute Father’s Day gifts, and then they will head home and make some BBQ. They will probably extend a few other surprises on Monday and Tuesday when they are closed.

Cindy Borcherding will be celebrating their son, Owen’s, Graduation party. She had already thrown a 50th birthday party for her husband, so his Father’s Day is postponed until next year. Though he couldn’t be prouder of his son’s accomplishments.

Tony Kuenzel will be celebrating with his wife, Rene, and son, Anthony, and his family with a meal, a dip in the pool and by imbibing some wine from their winery.
