Firefest Volunteer Crew Sign Up Sheet

For 12 years we have done all of this with a dedicated crew of 4-8 people. They will be here as team leaders & captains and would appreciate any and all help. Service Hours provided for high school students. If you or anyone with your group can volunteer - please let us know which place they can and where they want to. 

Info Booth

About: Located near the clocktower. Hand out Programs, sell tibetan wishes, provide general information on Firefest, Downtown New Haven Inc. and New Haven City. Tables, chairs and tent provided parking: You will be provided with a “vendor” parking pass which will allow you to park in the Vendor lot – by the city treatment plant.

Time Frames: 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. (shifts flexible)

Vendor Check In/Miller Traffic Stop

About: A tent located on the other side of the railroad tracks after Wall St. where you will stop all incoming traffic. Check parking passes, vendor tags, handicap tags and provide vendor check in packets. Direct those without proper parking tags to the 3 shuttle lots and public parking options. Make sure the area around the railroad stays clear of parked cars. Walkie talkie provided to contact event staff. Table, chair and tent provided. Requires standing/light wallking.

Time Frames: 4 a.m. - 8 a.m. Tara Steffens & Rachel Bartels

8 a.m. - 10 a.m. Jordan Hurt.

10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

2 p.m. - 6 p.m.

6 - 10 p.m.

Olive Street Traffic Stop 

About: A tent located on the other side of the railroad tracks after Front/Olive where you may be needed to provide directions. No one is allowed down front street and your are just needed to point and give directions. NO paperwork. Requires light walking.

Time Frames: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

2 p.m. - 6 p.m.

6 - 10 p.m.

Alley Vendor Traffic Stop

About: Small table located at the alley making sure permits only allowed in. Help with band load in from time to time. Seated. 

Time Frames: 11 a.m.   - 3 p.m.

3 p.m. - 7 p.m.

7 p.m. - 10 p.m. (possible leaving early).

General Event Staff

About: You will be assigned to a team leader and will help keep fire pits lit and stocked with wood, help handicap shuttle people from lots, empty trash cans & take to dumpster, general crowd control & answers, help with “Sky Latern” launch and assist other Demo Workers with needs. Golf Cart/Utility Cart available for some positions/needs. You will be provided with a “vendor” parking pass for parking in the vendor lot.

Time Frames: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

2 p.m. - 6 p.m. 

6 p.m. - 10 p.m. (Known as Pyro Crew): Lance and Gary, Don Bolte.

Sunday Cleanup

About: Work with Pinckney Bend Distillery to clean up trash downtown and haul away dumpster, pick up signage, tear down stages, tents etc. Physical requirements vary

Time Frame: 10 a.m. start.
