When Carol Rauth retired from nursing and moved to New Haven in the 1990s, she volunteered to serve as the parish nurse for Assumption Church.

It didn’t take long for her to see the limited opportunities for senior citizens to socialize with people the same age.

Hoping to change that, she formed a committee of medical professionals, area businesspeople, and other like-minded volunteers and embarked on a mission to establish a senior center for New Haven.
