Franklin County R-II Science Olympiad Competes In State

After placing third at regionals back in February, the Franklin County R-II School Science Olympiad competed in the state competition last month and placed in 19th out of the 51 schools competing.

The team, consisting of students in grades 6 through 9, competed in 23 different events.

"Some of the events are hands-on," Science Olympiad coach Michelle Brune described, "and others have them studying diseases, or building cars and airplanes, or focus on the solar system and weather. The events cover a variety of science topics, and they vary every year."
