New Haven’s Industrial Park Has A Restorative Visionary

Tim Duvall has had a 30 year old dream come true in New Haven’s Industrial Park. He has built a shop that can accommodate more than 10 cars being worked on for performance and/or show. Duvall is quick to point out that his facility is not a repair shop or a body shop, but a high end restoration shop for classic cars.

In the shop as of this interview is a pristine ‘55 Chevy Bel Air that one of his clients commissioned Tim to rebuild to showcase his talent for custom high end auto restoration and attention to detail. This car is special to Tim because he has put in 3200 man hours to make it perfect even though only a few parts of the remaining car are original. The rest is custom metal fabrication done in his shop.

Duvall started showing the ’55 Chevy around at big car shows, and his phone started ringing. At the time, he was working 12 years for Henniges as a CAD CAM designer. Other skills in robotics and CNC machining complement the CAD CAM design so that Visions Restorations can make everything in-house. In addition to the body work, they can build motors and transmissions. Off the main floor is a paint shop where, after painting, the cars receive detailing. There are other cars on lifts in the main work area. Truly, they are a one-stop shop.

The only aspect that he does not work on is interiors. He sends those to a shop in Illinois. Duvall has built up a three year backlog which he hopes to whittle down with the building of his facility and hiring a talented team. To that end, he has hired a number of specialists to work on the cars.

Tim says that he is proud of his work and loves seeing the finished cars done right.
