New Haven Youth Fair Promises Lots of Fun, Games, Exhibits

Fair Opens With Livestock Shows Friday Afternoon, July 7

Livestock shows on Friday and children’s games on Saturday are just a few of the highlights of the New Haven Community Youth Fair that kicks off July 7 at City Park.

The fair opens at 1 p.m. Friday, July 7, with the Goat Show, followed by the Sheep Show. The Poultry Show starts at 3 p.m., followed by the Rabbit Show. Both the Bucket Calf and Swine shows start at 6 p.m.

All the shows feature local youth showing animals they raised. Livestock shows continue starting at 9 a.m. Saturday with beef breeding, dairy and market steers on the schedule. Livestock entries need to be mailed in by July 1. Forms are available on the fair website and at local businesses.

Planned Friday night are the Youth Fair Queen Contest at 7 p.m. in the American Legion parking lot, followed by the Pig Scramble at 8. Pre-registration is required for the Pig Scramble with all entries postmarked by July 3. See the Youth Fair web site  at www.nhcyf.com  for more details.

Kiddie games will be featured again on Saturday, July 8 starting at 2 p.m.  All children are encouraged to attend. The games include Nickel Scramble, Turtle Race, Hula Hoop Contest, Bubble Gum Blowing Contest, Egg Toss, Watermelon Eating Contest, Pepsi Chugging Contest,  3-Legged Race and Tug of War.
