Politics As Usual

Not much is happening on the voting scene in New Haven this year. The mayor, Aldermen, and school board members are predominantly running unopposed. R-II, however, has three candidates running for a board position. Audrey Freitag, pictured, is running against Amanda Yates and Dale Borcherding. Freitag discussed both her reasons for running and her qualifications with the New Haven Independent News.

Among other things, she says she feels that education never stops, and that she was proud that her four children went to R-II. She mentioned that R-II is among 5-10 school districts that don’t have High School Support. One of her aims is to get as much support as is possible for the 120 kids and special needs kids going from the elementary system into High School.
