Students Raise $2,000 For Honor Flight

Earn Chance To 'Slime' Principal

A wildly successful fundraising contest by New Haven Elementary students will pay for sending district employees on the next Franklin County Honor Flight on October 27.

Student service leaders at the school organized the drive to raise $1,500 to send three employees who are also veterans—Bob Bratcher, Russ Gillig and Amy Schenk—as chaperones who help veterans on the trip to see their war memorials in Washington, DC.

As an added incentive, students earn the right to dump a cup of homemade “slime” on Principal Kasi Meyer at a schoolwide assembly for every $100 raised. The payoff came Friday with the announcement that $1,901 had been raised.
