Winter Weather Interferes With Completion Of Maupin Street Project

Construction work for the Maupin Phase 2 street project is nearing completion, but the cold temperatures and winter weather in the past few weeks have interfered with the final step of the project: laying down the asphalt.

"All we have left to do is to asphalt the road, and that needs certain weather requirements," Cochran Engineering Road & Bridge Design Director Tary Todd said. "We can't do it in cold weather. The asphalt companies around here are closed due to this reason."

Todd said that because of this, the project will likely be completed in the spring.
