Youth Fair Opens Friday With Full Schedule of Activities

The community is gearing up for the New Haven Youth Fair that kicks off Friday at the American Legion grounds off Highway 100.

The fair opens at 1 p.m. Friday with a series of livestock shows featuring local youth showing animals they raised. Livestock shows continue starting at 9 a.m. Saturday.

The Youth Fair Queen Contest starts at 7 p.m. Friday in the American Legion parking lot, with 14 girls vying for the crown. The talent portion is at 3 p.m.at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, 607 Maupin Ave.

The Pig Scramble begins at 8 p.m. Friday. Participants need to check in between 5 and 7:30 p.m. for a chance to chase pigs through the mud on the lower Legion grounds.

Children’s games start Saturday at 2 p.m. The games include Nickel Scramble, Turtle Race, Hula Hoop Contest, Bubble Gum Blowing Contest, Egg Toss, Watermelon Eating Contest, Pepsi Chugging Contest, 3-Legged Race and Tug of War.

The games are located in the Kid Zone, which also features a bounce house from 1-7 p.m.
