Leola Katherine Scheer

Leola Katherine Scheer, 95, of New Haven, MO, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at New Haven Care Center, New Haven, MO.

Leola was born in Lyon, MO on November 22, 1921, a daughter of the late August and Freida (Brune) Althage.

She was the widow of William O. Scheer. They were married on September 5, 1943, at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, Port Hudson. William preceded her in death on February 22, 1995.

Leola was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, New Haven, MO. She worked for Dissen Farm Supply as a bookkeeper for over 20 years. In her free time she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.

Leola is survived by two sons, Wayne Scheer and wife Beverly, of New Haven, MO and Kevin Scheer and wife Carol, of New Haven, MO; by five grandchildren, Wendy Olerich, Charlie, Allen, Joe and Justin Scheer; by 11 great-grandchildren, Ava and Dane Olerich, Kyle, Evan and Sam Scheer, Logan, Lillian and Olivia Scheer, Hunter and Molly Scheer and Adian Scheer,; and a sister-in-law, Mildred Althage, of New Haven, MO.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, by a sister Nelda Gerdes, and by a brother Orval Althage.

Visitation was held Friday, March 31 from 4-8 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, New Haven, MO.

Funeral services were held Saturday at 12 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, New Haven, with Pastor Mark Goucher officiating.

Burial took place at Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be given to New Haven Care Center or Church Cemetery Fund. C/O Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home.
