Police are warning residents about raccoons, apparently infected with distemper, spotted at several locations around town in recent weeks.
Police Chief Dan Terry said his department has euthanized four raccoons believed to have distemper in the last two weeks.
“We need to warn people if they see a raccoon acting odd, call us and let us know and keep your families and animals away from them,” he said.
The raccoons have been seen on Olive, Mary Hammack, Maupin and Circle Drive, among other places. “They have literally been all over town,” he said.
