Daniel Ervin Dunakey, 74, of Wellsville, MO, died on Wednesday, November 29, 2017.
Daniel Ervin Dunakey was born February 10, 1943, in St. Louis, MO, to Joseph Dunakey and Viola Mary Dickson Dunakey. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving from December 9, 1966 until December 14, 1970. Mr. Dunakey drove a truck for over forty years, his last employer was Bockting Trucking out of New Haven, MO. On January 26, 2014 he married Diane Reed. Mr. Dunakey was a member of the New Haven VFW and the American Legion. He loved spending time with all his family and many friends.
Mr. Dunakey is survived by his wife, Diane Reed Dunakey of Wellsville, MO; his son, Nathan Dunakey and wife, Melinda, of Montgomery City, MO; his grandchildren: Karah and Ethan Dunakey of Montgomery City, MO; step-children: Scott William Slavens of Platteville, Wisconsin; Nicholas Schafer and wife, Alena, of Wellsville, MO; step-grandchildren: Wesley Slavens and wife, Andrea, of Bachelor, MO; Brett May of Williamsburg, MO; Barron May of Wellsville, MO; Adessa Slavens of Hawaii; Hunter Maskey of St. Peters, MO; Kooper Schafer of Wellsville, MO; and Kaiya Schafer of Wellsville, MO; and one great-grandson, Wyatt Slavens of Bachelor, MO. Also surviving are two sisters: Doris McMurtry of Sparta, IL; and Rose Poole of Bauxite, AR; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Mr. Dunakey was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Dunakey and Viola Mary Dickson Dunakey; brothers: Frank, Tom, and an infant brother, Eldon; Sister, Vera Silman; and two step-daughters: Kitty May and Alicia Maskey.
A memorial service with full Military Honors will be held at Noon on Saturday, December 9, 2017, at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO. The Reverend Ed Hankinson will officiate. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City, MO.
