Doris Ann Barringhaus

Doris Ann Barringhaus (nee’ Voss), age 79, of Washington, MO passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2018. Doris was born April 3, 1938 in Washington, MO. She was the daughter of the late Evert Voss and the late Frances (Hoelscher) Voss.

Doris attended school in Washington and graduated from St. Francis Borgia Regional High School. She was united in holy matrimony to Kenneth Barringhaus on October 15, 1960 at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church. The couple made their home in Washington and the marriage was blessed with four sons.

Doris was employed at St. Francis Borgia Regional High School where she worked as a bookkeeper for over 20 years. She enjoyed sewing, bowling, spending time with her family, and volunteering in her community.

She was a parishioner at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church. She was also involved with the Ladies Sodality, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, Mercy Hospital Auxiliary, and volunteered with the Meals-On-Wheels program.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents, Evert and Frances Voss, and parents-in-law, Ben and Agnes Barringhaus.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Barringhaus of Washington;

Four sons: Kevin Barringhaus and wife, Annette, of Ellisville, MO, David Barringhaus and wife, Anne, of Ballwin, MO, Brian Barringhaus and wife, Nadine, of Austin, TX, and Tim Barringhaus and wife, Brigid, of Ballwin, MO;

Two sisters: Shirley Lanwermeyer and husband, Wayne, of Washington, and Mary Berlener and husband, Roy, of Hermann, MO;

Ten grandchildren: Mackenzie Barringhaus, Conner Barringhaus, Lauren Barringhaus, Alex Barringhaus, Lindsey Barringhaus, Brianne Tolj, Jonathon Tolj, Bentley Barringhaus, Joey Barringhaus, and Edie Barringhaus;

Other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, March 19, 2018 at 1 p.m. at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Washington, MO with Rev. Joe Wormek officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made in honor of Mrs. Barringhaus to St. Francis Borgia Regional High School or St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church.
