Campsites Open On Riverfront
Four new campsites north of the Missouri River levee are essentially complete, and rules for their use are posted nearby.
“It’s pretty much done,” said Public Works Director Peter Otten. “We just need signs in front of each campsite, numbering them. Each one has a fire ring and we have some picnic tables up closer to the river for people to share.”
The rules limit camping to two nights under most circumstances and sets a “quiet time” of 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. The campground is due north of the John Colter Memorial.
It would be primarily intended for overnight camping by kayak and canoe paddlers. Public Works will be responsible for maintaining the campsites.
