Paddle Stop And The Possible Port Of New Haven

Christine Zika of Missouri River Country came to town to discuss what it would take for Shane and Stacy Camden of Paddle Stop to expand their operations in anticipation of linking Augusta, Washington, New Haven, and Hermann via a water taxi for the future Hoffmann Companies’ cruiser boats. Camden has proposed a 16’ x 16’ dock to be located just west of the current boat ramp.

With the announcement of the Hoffmanns’ planned river cruises departing from Augusta’s Klondike Park, possibilities are swirling around peoples’ imaginations. Alderman Tim Otten speculated that the city might be able to help Paddle Stop with considering a larger docking facility.

During Camden’s meeting with Zika, he revealed that he was looking into a water taxi that would make a loop with stops in Augusta, Washington, New Haven, and Hermann. The idea would be to expand on the land trolleys and provide a full experience that would transport tourists by water to the various wine country destinations.

The Hoffmann’s have definitely been raising the bar these last months. It is up to Paddle Stop and other local entrepreneurs to seize the opportunities being presented.
