Municipal Building And Police Stations Plans Presented To BOA

Aside from the monthly city business, the big issue from this month’s Board of Aldermen Meeting was the presentation by Archer-Elgin project manager Cameron Schweiss on the new municipal building and new entrance to the building and park.

Schweiss presented a proposed site plan a couple of months ago, and Peter Otten, Public Works director, commented that he would work with Schweiss on the entrance road details. This presentation included some of those adjustments.

Several residents wondered why the city needed a new municipal building and police station. The new municipal building was planned 10 years ago and makes it easier for residents to access the facility, and for police to not be boxed in because of train traffic. The new facility will also connect to a city park trail, the swimming pool, the new bridge and a veterans memorial for local veterans.

The new facility and police station will create a more cohesive presence of New Haven as a growing community with lots of amenities and opportunities to offer.
