Chamber Meeting Dominated By Details Of Visitor Center Sale
The Chamber meeting was held this week and the conversation was dominated by the question of the sale of the Visitors Center to Pinckney Bend Distillery. On hand were aldermen, Mark Wehner and Tim Otten to try and explain the reasons and details concerning the sale of the Visitors Center. Several members of the Chamber and Business Community expressed their displeasure with how the sale had been conducted. Wehner and Otten both offered responses to try and quell the suspicions that something underhanded was happening with the sale. The discussion was governed in part by the fact that the details were still in closed session at the time of the Chamber meeting. The aldermen and the Chamber members went back and forth for almost an hour and a half before it was decided to table the conversation for a future meeting. Topics for discussion at the future meeting will be the timeline for vacating the building, and where a possible future location for the Visitors Center could be.
The meeting continued with the Lions Club donating a check for $100 to the Chamber. A Chamber banquet was decided upon and will occur...
