Gertrude Carolina (Schowe) Shaws

Gertrude Carolina (Schowe) Shaws, living nearly 100 years and having a beautiful life passed away May 7, 2023 at her home in Gay, Georgia. She was born to Elsie and Edward Schowe in Berger, Missouri where she grew up on their farm in Berger  bottoms. Later, she moved to St. Louis where she met and married Stan Shaws, moving around as a military family and

raising their family.

After Stan’s retirement from the military, they moved to Newnan, Georgia where they resided in the winters and spent many summers in Minnesota, fishing and boating and relaxing at their lake cottage.

Trudy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister, Dorothy Willimann and her husband Walter; a brother, Rudy Schowe and his wife Beverly; four nieces Emily Schowe, Joyce Hauser, Mary Lou Willi- mann and Dorris Willimann; and three nephews Walter Willimann Jr.,

Gene Willimann, and Larry Scheible.

She is survived by a daughter, Cindy Shaws, a son Steve Shaws and his wife Kathy and their daughter Krista; by two nephews, Ron Willimann and Joe Hauser; by three nieces, Anne Willimann, Fay Scheible and Fern Wray and her husband Ken; and many other Missouri families and friends.

A Life Celebration was held June 11 at Mount Zion Baptist Church at Gay, Georgia.
