Boys Track And Field Races To State (Recap)

Boys track and field at New Haven High School rose to the top in 2024, making significant strides throughout the season and reaching state.

The 4x200-meter relay team qualified for the Class 1 Tournament after finishing in fourth place at sectionals. Its runners were Jack Feldmann, Peyton Rice, Austin Harrison, Jose Romo-Vazquez and Lewis Wray.

Wray also represented the boys in the long jump at state. He finished tenth and set a personal record of 5.84 meters. Wray also took second place at districts and sectionals.

Feldmann set a school record in the javelin at districts. The senior threw for 43.41 meters, the farthest distance in program history.

Rice was the junior varsity conference champion in both the 110-meter (19.87s) and 300-meter hurdle (48.66s) competitions.

Brandon Wiedemann took the top podium in the junior varsity discus (31.02m) and shot put (11.8m) events at Four Rivers.
