Girls Basketball Caps Off Season As District Runner-Ups (Recap)
Girls basketball showed determination throughout last winter, finishing in second place in Class 2 District 4 and with a 12-13 record.
The Shamrocks kicked off districts by sweeping Veritas Christian 38-12 in the quarterfinals and taking down St. Vincent 38-27 in the semifinals. New Haven was a game away from a trip to state but fell 46-19 to a tough Principa squad in the district championship.
Throughout the season, New Haven scored an average of 35 points per game. They had a 2-4 home record, a 3-4 away record and a 7-5 neutral/tourney record.
New Haven competed in three regular-season tournaments. Early in the season, they won consolation at the Montgomery County Invitational, then took third place at Union and competed at Hermann.
Alayna Lagemann was unanimously named first-team all-conference and selected to the all-district team. The junior forward led her team with 276 points, executing 50.4% (122-242) of her field shots and 27.4% (32-117) of her free throws. Lagemann also racked up 121 rebounds, 35 assists, 15 steals and a team-high 33 blocks.
Aubri Meyer received all-district and second-team all-conference honors in her final season. The senior guard/forward had a team-high 219 rebounds and 67 steals. She also came in second on New Haven with 161 points, 39 assists, and 20 blocks. Meyer shot 64.9% (48-74) from the free-throw line and 41.3% (50-121) from the field.
Junior Katie Holtmeyer tallied 123 points, 113 rebounds, 81 assists, 38 steals and six blocks.
Senior guard Liz Luecke collected 92 points, 39 rebounds, 22 assists, 20 steals and two blocks.
Senior Morgan Guehne notched 92 points, 41 rebounds, 32 assists, 31 steals and two blocks.
Sophomore guard Megan Hoerstkamp contributed 47 points, 11 assists, 10 rebounds and six steals.
Junior Lexi Yochim grabbed 18 rebounds, 14 assists, 11 points and seven steals.
Senior guard Tamia Diaz recorded six points, six rebounds, four steals and two assists.
Senior forward Jane Pendleton got ten rebounds, four points and an assist.
Junior Emma Gerdes picked up two points, two steals, a rebound and an assist.
Senior guard/forward Mekela Waters made eight rebounds, two points and two steals.
Junior Lesly Gerlemann had a steal.
