Volleyball Serves Up Three Wins To Start Season

New Haven’s volleyball team has aced their first week on the court.

They opened their season on the road with a clean sweep of Cuba on Tuesday, Sept. 3. The Shamrocks crushed them in all three sets: 25-14, 25-12 and 25-16.

New Haven delivered a second shutout, beating Belle at home by scores of 25-8, 25-18 and 25-14.

The Shamrocks capped the week off with their third-season victory. They won the first two sets against Fatima: 25-11 and 25-20. New Haven fell in their third contest (25-22) but rebounded with a 25-15 victory in the fourth.

Cuba

The Shamrocks tallied 57 attacks, 27 kills, 27 assists, five blocks and 14 aces against the Lady Wildcats.

Avery Strubberg led with 15 points, 15 attacks, four aces and three blocks. She tied for a team-high eight kills.

Alayna Lagemann also spiked eight kills. She stacked up 10 points, nine attacks and two blocks.

Isabella Groner contributed the highest number of assists at 15. She also grabbed 14 attacks, 6 points, five kills and an ace.

Morgan Guehne dropped 12 assists, six attacks, 5 points, three aces and two kills. 

Katie Holtmeyer tallied 4 points, four attacks, three aces and a kill.

Megan Hoerstkamp notched three attacks, 2 points, an ace and a kill.

Belle

New Haven racked up 78 attacks, 36 kills, 35 assists, 12 aces and two blocks against the Lady Tigers.

Groner led the Shamrocks with 22 assists, tying for a team-high 18 attacks and nine kills. She recorded 9 points on Thursday night.

Strubberg stacked up 16 attacks, 12 points, nine kills, three aces and an assist.

Lagemann had 18 attacks, 11 kills, a block and an assist.

Guehne grabbed ten assists, nine attacks, 8 points, four aces and four kills.

Holtmeyer took six points, five attacks, four aces, a block and a kill.

Hoerstkamp racked up four attacks, a kill and an assist.

Gerdes got three attacks, a point and a kill.

Maggie Hoener served up an ace.

Rachel Otten spiked for an attack.

Fatima

The Shamrocks totaled 137 attacks, 40 kills, 36 assists, 15 aces and seven blocks against the Comets.

Strubberg led New Haven with 43 attacks, 22 points and 15 kills. She also tied for a team-high four aces and three blocks.

Groner contributed the most assists at 21. She also grabbed 19 attacks, 7 points, five kills, an ace and a block.

Guehne made waves with 24 attacks, 14 assists, 6 points, five kills and an ace.

Lagemann broke loose with 17 attacks, 9 points, six kills and three blocks.

Holtmeyer notched 13 attacks, 7 points, four aces and three blocks.

Hoerstkamp had eight attacks, 5 points, four aces, a kill and an assist.

Gerlemann got 11 attacks and five kills.

Gerdes spiked two attacks.

Hoener served an ace.
