Volleyball Takes Second At Round Robin

New Haven’s volleyball team entered their third week of the season, claiming three victories and a tie in six games. The Shamrocks first faced Linn and Union on the road, then capped it with a home round-robin tournament. They now carry a 12-4-1 record.

The Shamrocks made their first serve against Linn on Tuesday, Sept. 17. They delivered a rout over the Lady Wildcats, beating them 25-19, 25-19 and 25-17.

Two days later, New Haven dropped their first conference game to Union. They fell in all three sets: 25-15, 25-14 and 25-19.

The Shamrocks held their round-robin tournament that following Saturday.

Their first matchup ended in a tie against DeSoto. The Lady Dragons fired a 25-21 win for the first set. Then the Shamrocks rebounded in the second contest, slaying them 25-22.

New Haven kept their momentum going against Russellville. They swept them in both sets by scores of 25-11.

The Shamrocks then shut out Bowling Green in two sets: 25-11 and 25-12.

New Haven finished second at the tournament after falling to DeSoto. They lost both contests of the championship game by scores of 26-24 and 25-14.

Linn

Isabella Groner had a team-high 13 assists against Linn. She also grabbed 21 attacks, 5 points, four kills and an ace.

Alayna Lagemann led New Haven with 14 points and 11 kills. She also launched 17 attacks and three blocks.

Morgan Guehne was on fire with 12 assists, seven attacks, 5 points, four kills and an ace.

Katie Holtmeyer broke away with 19 attacks, 5 points, three kills, an ace and a block.

Megan Hoerstkamp landed six attacks, two aces and an assist.

Avery Strubberg fired 21 attacks and seven kills.

Emma Gerdes collected four attacks and a kill.

Lesly Gerlemann executed seven attacks.

Maggie Hoener served up two aces.
