NH Future Rocks Take 2nd At STL Tourney
The New Haven Future Rocks finished second in a CNR STL Youth Basketball tournament held Sept. 28-29.
The boys played fast and physical with a smothering defense. Easton Bailey, Drew and Landen Gildehaus created multiple fast break opportunities, and their speed was too much for the Rage and LH Basketball Academy. Ben Gilbert, Dylan Baker, and Brett Eastham played phenomenal defense, keeping the opposing teams from getting second-chance opportunities. In their second game, Matthew Gilbert scored several buckets, including a three-point shot, to give New Haven a commanding lead against the Rage.
The boys were only down by three at the halfway mark of the championship game but could not quite keep pace with Hoop Phi in the second half. Overall, it was a great weekend; the boys have all improved tremendously.
The Future Rocks started the tournament strongly, crushing their first two opponents. They beat LH Basketball Academy 62-23 and STL Rage 52-34.
New Haven finished second after falling 33-22 to Hoop Phi Academy in the championship.
