Eugene V. Maczuk

Eugene "Gene" V. Maczuk, 85, of New Haven, MO, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Hermann Area District Hospital, Hermann, Missouri.

Gene was born in New Haven, Missouri on January 10, 1932, a son of the late Mike and Dorothy (Reed) Maczuk.

Gene worked alongside his father, Mike, and brother Harold, for many years in the family business, Maczuk, Inc. At one time, it consisted of a Ford auto agency, implement sales and service, a service station, a dairy farm, and a fertilizer business. One of his many roles in the business was that of bookkeeper. Gene later went on to be the owner of his own car dealerships, most recently Maczuk Chrysler and also Maczuk Chevrolet in Hermann. In 1995, Maczuk Chrysler received the Pace Setter's Club Grand Award for Best Small Dealership in the U.S. The dealership also consistently received Five Star Awards for Excellence in recognition of superior achievement. Always the enthusiastic businessman, discussing business with and imparting his knowledge of business to friends and family (sometimes with a favorite cigar or pipe in hand) was his favorite pastime. Gene was instrumental in helping his children begin their own successful businesses. He also enjoyed taking long walks and could often be seen enjoying the river front walk in downtown New Haven.

Gene is survived by his three children, Donna LaBruyere and husband Bud, of Hermann, MO, William Maczuk and wife Diane, of New Haven, MO, and Sandra Dee Maczuk Heilman, of Florida; by seven grandchildren, Chet and Kurt LaBruyere, Dustin Maczuk, Megan Maczuk Buhr, Sebastian Rawley, and Collin and Hayden Heilman; and by six great-grandchildren, Mason, Adlee, Paxton and Grayden LaBruyere and James and Julianne Maczuk.

Visitation was held Sunday, April 23rd from 4-8 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, New Haven, where memorial service was held Monday at 11 a.m., with Rev. David Poe officiating.
