Gary Joseph Gildehaus, 62, of New Haven, Missouri, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2020 in New Haven, Missouri.

Gary was born in Washington, Missouri on Sep. 28, 1958 to Richard and Corine (Glosemeyer) Gildehaus. He was baptized at St. Francis Borgia Church on Oct. 12, 1958 and was confirmed there on March 23, 1966. 

He was united in marriage to Joann Hesemann, July 3, 1982, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rosebud, MO. They spent over 38 wonderful years together on their farm raising their family.

He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in New Haven, Missouri, where he served on the church council as trustee for many years.

He graduated from Washington High School in 1976 and spent several years working for Strubbe Farms before starting a career as a cement mason. He was a member of Cement Mason Local No 527 for 35 years, until he retired to work as an independent contractor. 

Gary loved spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren’s events. Gary never knew a stranger, and was always willing to help anyone who needed help. He had an infectious laugh and could brighten up any room he entered. He enjoyed working on the farm, baling hay, and fixing whatever needed to be fixed. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and spending time with friends.

Gary is survived by his wife, Joann Gildehaus, of New Haven, his two daughters, Lisa McCleave and husband Eric of Washington, Missouri, Erin Schaefer and husband Dan of O’Fallon, Missouri and one son Michael Gildehaus and wife Amanda of Washington, Missouri; his beloved grandchildren, Abigail, Lillian and Kathryn McCleave and Addilyn and Colton Schaefer; his father Richard Gildehaus of Washington, Missouri; his siblings, Francis Gildehaus and wife Patricia of Holden, Missouri, Karla Gildehaus of Washington, Missouri, Wayne Gildehaus and wife April of New Haven, Missouri and Paul Gildehaus and wife Jennifer of Leslie, Missouri;  brothers-in-law Richard Hesemann and wife Elaine, and Robert Hesemann and wife Kay of Owensville, Missouri; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

 He was preceded in death by his mother, Corine Gildehaus, and his in-laws Arthur and Viola Hesemann.

Visitation was held Sunday, Dec. 20 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, New Haven.

Funeral services was held Monday, Dec. 21, at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, New Haven, with Rev. William Zastrow officiating.

Burial will be at Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery, New Haven.  Memorials may be given to Bethlehem Lutheran Church Cemetery Association. C/O Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home.
