Helen S. Buhr

Helen S. Buhr, 60, of New Haven, MO, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO.

Helen was born in Washington, MO, on September 15, 1956, a daughter of the late Lester and Alice (Coghlan) Deppe.

She was the wife of Leon F. Buhr. They were united in marriage on September 6, 1975, in Washington, MO.

Helen worked at Metalcraft and Henniges Automotive, both of New Haven. She also did at-home babysitting for over five years.

Helen was very active and involved with 4-H, particularly showing steers at the local fairs. She had a love for animals. She loved all her pets, including Buddy, her yellow lab and her "granddogs" as she affectionately referred to them. In her free time, Helen loved to trout fish, deer hunt and being in the outdoors. She also enjoyed gardening, quilting, cooking, playing bingo, and decorating the house for Christmas and putting up her trees.

Helen is survived by her husband Leon; a son, Scott Buhr and wife Megan, of New Haven, MO; a daughter, Amanda Buhr, of New Haven, MO; and a son, Douglas Buhr and wife Rebecca, of New Haven, MO; by two sisters, Verna Mohesky and husband Norvin, of Berger, MO; and Doris Jasper and husband Charles, of New Haven, MO; by five sisters-in-law, Donna Himmelberg and husband Robert, of Washington, MO; Mary Baucom and husband Bill, of Washington, MO; Betty Kampschroeder and husband Ed, of Wilmington, NC; Kelly Schweissguth and husband Burt, of Dutzow, MO; Vicky Dotson and husband Fred, of Lakeland, FL; by a brother-in-law, John Buhr and wife Linda, of Villa Ridge, MO; and by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her father and mother-in-law, Frank and Frances Buhr.

Visitation was held Thursday, March 30, from 4:-8 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, New Haven, where funeral services were held Friday at 10:30 a.m., with Pastor David Poe officiating.

Memorials may be given to Franklin County Humane Society or Siteman Cancer Center. C/O Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home.
