James Arthur Tate of the state of Washington passed away June 28, 2023. He was 53 years old.

Born September 20, 1969, to Norman and Sue Tate, he was married to Melissa Sullivan Tate in Washington state. His life in Washington was full of joy! Their union was blessed with a daughter, Emelia, now age five, who was the light of his life.

He spent the first 46 years of his life in Missouri, operating the family canoe business while he was in college. Later, James was employed by Mullen Machine of St. Clair, Mo., as Director of Human Resources, for many years until they closed. He continued to work, without pay, for three weeks afterward to get the books in order (he was also responsible for their accounting). After relocating to Washington State, he worked for Fred Meyer.

He leaves to mourn his sudden departure, his beloved wife, Melissa Tate, and daughter, Amelia, of the home, a stepson, Corey Sullivan, also of the home, his adult sons, Levi and Jacob Tate (Sarah) of Union, Mo., his parents, Norman Tate of St. Louis County and Sue Blesi of Pacific, Mo., and three sisters, Renae Quinn of St. Louis County, Pamela Bross of Jefferson County, and Rebecca Ridenhour of the state of Florida, several nieces and nephews, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by a niece, who was also his adoptive sister, Amanda Ruth.

Arrangements are incomplete at this time.
