Lela A. Hale, 89, of New Haven, MO, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2020 at Mercy Hospital, Washington, Missouri.

Lela was born in New Florence, Missouri on May 3, 1931, the daughter of the late Hercial Wayne & Ruth A. (Cochran) Harlan.

She was the widow of George “Bud” A. Hale, Jr.  They were united in marriage on June 26, 1948, at Union, Missouri.  Bud preceded her in death on March 13, 1992.

Lela was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, New Haven.  She worked as a seamstress for Langenberg Hat Factory in New Haven for over 25 years.

In her free time she enjoyed fishing, sewing, spending time with her family and being outdoors.

Lela is survived by a daughter-in-law, Marian Hale, of New Haven, Missouri; three sons, Daryl Hale & wife Tami, of New Haven, Missouri; Denis Hale & wife Stella, of New Haven, Missouri; and Ronald Hale & wife Ruth, of Hermann, Missouri; by two daughters, Ruthie Hale Meyer, of Ballwin, Missouri; and Nina Hale Boehmer & husband Curt, of New Haven, Missouri; by three sisters, Dorothy Ketchum, of Wright City, Missouri; Dolly Hoerstkamp, of New Haven, Missouri; and Martha Veach, of Jonesburg, Missouri; by two brothers, Wayne Harlan, of Holts Summit, Missouri; and Willard Harlan & wife Frances, of Wellsville, Missouri, by 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, by a son Allen Hale, by an adopted son, Steve Farrell, two sisters, Susie Menke-Pouge and Mary Lee Walter Harlan and a brother William Harlan.

Visitation was held Friday from 4 - 6 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, New Haven, Missouri.

Funeral services will be private. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Jonesburg, Missouri. Memorials may be given to St. Peter’s U.C.C. or Oak Grove Cemetery. C/O Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home.
