Lewis “Tom” Collins III passed away September 13, 2021 at home in Hermann, MO, surrounded by family who deeply loved him. He lost his battle with prostate cancer at age 70.

Tom was born on July 8, 1951 to the late Lewis Tom Collins Jr. and June Collins nee Schaefer in St. Louis MO. Tom joined the Navy in 1969 during the Vietnam War and served four years, much of it as a submariner. He lived in the city of Overland in St. Louis County for many decades and worked at the Chevron, Chrysler and GM plants.

Tom was a devout Christian, saved by grace through faith (Eph. 2:8). He was baptized shortly before his death in a ceremony at home with family. He was comforted by the certain knowledge that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord (2 Cor. 5:6).

He is survived by four siblings; Deborah Paskavich and Howard Collins of Stover MO, Charles Collins of O’Fallon MO, and David (Ramona) Collins of St. Louis County MO;  a niece, Andrea (David) Menz of Hermann MO, three nephews, Michael (Stephanie) Collins and David Collins of O’Fallon MO, and Aaron Paskavich of Alaska; and numerous  grandnieces and nephews.

Tom was noted for his lifelong generosity and willingness to be of help to others. He was the family peacemaker, loved by all. He is greatly missed.

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God” (Matthew 5:9).

Services were held Friday, September 17 at 10 a.m. at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis. Arrangement were under the direction of Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, New Haven.
