Melvin Edwin Hecktor, 86 passed away on August 13, 2021 at his home.

Melvin was the son of Edwin and Della Hecktor (Jany) was born at home on February 7, 1935 in Evansville, IL. On June 25, 1955 he was united in Holy Matrimony to his beloved wife LaVerne (Hellmann) at St. Johns Gildehaus in Villa Ridge, MO and they shared 66 years of happiness.

Melvin worked at the MFA Co-Operative Association #2 in Washington, MO for 46 years and managed it for many of those years. He was well known and respected by all the area farmers for his kindness, fairness, honesty and overall knowledge of a country farmer. Melvin was always a farmer and he loved it with a passion. In June 1962, he and LaVerne purchased their dream farm on Bucklick School Rd in rural New Haven. He worked hard at whatever is did. He taught his sons, grandsons and great grandsons the ways of the true farmer.

He was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in New Haven for over 62 years and shared his love of Christ with his family,

He is survived by 5 daughters, Sharon (Dan) Monzyk, Union; Meg (Alan) Jacquin Beaufort; Jane (George) Jakins, Ocean Spring, MS;  Barbara (Dale) Aholt, Washington and JoAnn (Bob) Noelker of Chesterfield. Two sons, James (Debbie) Hecktor of New Haven and David (Donna) Hecktor of Washington.

His siblings, one brother Paul (Sue) Hecktor, Marthasville, 8 sisters, Gladys Menke, Margate, FL;  Mary (Louis) Heimann, Patricia (Jerome) Gildehaus, Wilma Ridder, Theresa (Elvin) Gildehaus, Alice (Lester) Brinker, Doris (Dennis) Schmitt and Linda (Andy) Voss, all of Washington. Two sisters-in-law, Mary Louise Hellmann and Roslyn Vondera, both of Villa Ridge, 22 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, 3 more great-grandchildren on the way. 45 nieces and nephews.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, one son John (Butch) Hecktor, one grandson Adam Jacquin and a great-granddaughter Hope King.

Due to COVID, visitation will be private.

Funeral Mass was open to the public at Assumption Catholic Church in New Haven on Tuesday, August 17 at 10 a.m. with burial following in the church cemetery.
