Raymond Virgil Niewald, 95, of Bland, Mo., passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at Stonebridge of Owensville.
He was born March 25, 1927, to August and Florence (Ritterbusch) Niewald in Owensville.
He was united in marriage to Gladys Naomi Jost July 2, 1949, in Owensville.
Raymond served his country with the United States Army during World War II where he served in Italy. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Owensville VFW Post 6133 and Owensville Masonic Lodge 624. He was a former member of the Belle Lion's Club and former Supervisor at the local ASC Office. He owned and operated a Standard Oil Office for most of his working years. After retirement from there he moved to his farm outside of Owensville and pursued his passion for farming. He hauled cattle to the sale barn for people for many years. He enjoyed listening to country music and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Florence; wife, Gladys; and brothers, Harry and Herbert Niewald.
He is survived by his daughters, Gail Baumann and husband Mark of Independence and Kris Martin and husband Scott of Kansas City; brother, Ervin Niewald of New Haven; grandchildren, Emily Howell and husband Chad of Blue Springs, Karri Baumann of Kansas City, Julie Brauch and husband Ethan of Battlefield, Douglas Martin of Overland Park, KS, and Mallory Martin of Estero, FL;  great-grandchildren, Ava, Grace and Lila Howell of Blue Springs and Adalynn Brauch of Battlefield; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 5 from 1-5 p.m. at Gottenstroeter Funeral Home in Owensville with VFW Services at 4 p.m. and Masonic Services at 4:15 p.m.
Funeral services will be Monday, March 6 at 11 a.m. at the Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Sullivan officiating. Burial will be at Countryside Memorial Gardens with full Military Honors.
