Robert Ellis Henson, D.O., 87, of Hermann, MO, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2023 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri.

 

Robert was born in Iola, Kansas on September 3, 1936, the son of the late Ellis Thomas Henson & Mabel (Oliver) Blohm.

 

He was the widower of Roberta Ann (Pryor) Henson.  They were united in marriage on November 26, 1960, in Scammon, Kansas.  Together they had four children.  Roberta preceded him in death on October 29, 2011.

 

Robert was a member of St. George Church in Hermann, the Hermann Lions Club, he was the founding member of the Frene Investment Club, Hermann Area District Hospital Foundation President, Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons past president, he was a fellow of American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, he was on the Board of Directors for Bay-Hermann Berger Bank, now Missouri Bank, a founding member of Loutre Shore Country Club and member of Pheasant Farm LLC-Hunting Group, Red Eye Fishing Group and of the American Cut Glass Association.

 

Robert was a family practice physician and surgeon and was a partner in Hermann Medical Arts. He was also a staff physician and surgeon at Hermann Area District Hospital from 1967 to 2010. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, investing, and spending time with his family.

 

Robert is survived by two sons, Robert Henson II, M.D. & wife Kim, of Denver, Colorado; and Ross Henson, of Hermann, Missouri; two daughters, Rene' Bana & husband Kirk, of Wentzville, Missouri; and Rona Coltman & husband Brad, of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin; seven grandchildren, Ross & Thomas Henson, of Hermann, Missouri; Heath & Heather Bana, of Wentzville, Missouri; and Emma, Esther & Ella Coltman, of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin and many nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a sister, Sharon Leach.

 

Visitation will be held Sunday, December 10th from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann.

 

A funeral mass will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. at St. George Church, Hermann, with Father Philip Niekamp officiating.

 

Burial will be at St. George Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Hermann Area District Hospital Foundation or St. George Church.
