Middle School Americanism Essay Contest Winners

New Haven Elementary and Franklin County R-II schools recently participated in the 2021 Americanism Essay Contest sponsored by the New Haven American Legion Post 366 auxiliary unit. The Americanism Essay Contest is an annual  event which encourages students to value our freedoms and learn just what it means to be an American.

Each year there is a different topc, and this year’s was “How can we address the health and well-being of our veterans, military, and their families?”

Unit area winners in Class II, grades 5-6, were Savvi Olson in First, Hailie Zeiss in Second, and Nicholas Borcherding in Third. Unit area winners in Class III, grades 7-8, were Avery Struberg in First, Charlie Tyree in Second, and Kyle Blankenship in Third.

The first place winning essays were sent to the Ninth District Division to determine winners.
