Boys Basketball Gives It Their All On The Court
New Haven’s boys basketball team poured their hearts out on the court during their 2023-24 season. Despite finishing with a 5-21 record, the Shamrocks never backed down from any opponent and stayed competitive until the buzzer sounded.
Their five victories were a 35-23 crushing of Wellsville, a 49-47 win over Silex, a 53-44 beating over Bourbon, a 62-22 sweep of Viburnum and a 49-43 victory over Missouri Military Academy.
During the regular season, New Haven participated in the Peoples Bank & Trust Shootout and the Montgomery County, Battle in Bourbon and Hermann invitationals.
The Shamrocks finished second-to-last in the Four Rivers Conference and were the sixth seed in Class 2 District 4.
Andrew Noelke received All-District and All-Conference Second-Team honors during his final season on the court. The senior had a team-high 339 points with an average of 15.4 per game. He completed 49.8% (129-259) of his field goals and 52.6% (80-152) of his free throws. Noelke also led his squad with 232 rebounds and 35 blocks while tallying 26 assists and 13 steals.
Ryan Steinbeck had the highest number of assists with 53. The junior also stacked up 149 rebounds, 114 points, 26 steals and a block.
Freshman Trevor Hinten notched a team-high 40 steals. He also brought in 177 points, 83 rebounds, 28 assists and a block.
Weston Hecktor racked up 136 points, 126 rebounds, 46 assists, 17 steals and a block in his rookie season.
Freshman Landon Burkett dropped 73 points, 39 rebounds, 33 assists and 23 steals.
Junior Dane Oelrichs secured 24 rebounds, 21 points, four steals and two assists.
Michael McFerrin recorded 22 rebounds, 11 points and four steals during his junior year.
Freshman Ethan Hale grabbed eight rebounds, four assists, two points and two steals.
Sophomore Chase Patterson collected six points and five rebounds.
