Locals Make A Splash During The MR 340 Paddle Race

In a National Geographic article from 2010, the MR 340 was rated as one of the Top 100 Best American Adventure Trips. Some compete fiercely and some compete just to complete the grueling 340 mile paddle.

This year, local paddlers were well represented. The pride of New Haven, Paddle Stop’s “Eliza Haycraft” Dragon Boat Category finished 1st in their category and 266th overall with a time of 80 hours and 39 minutes.

Lauren Rodrigues, with a board made by Paddle Stop, came in 1st in her category and 44th overall in the Women’s SUP (Stand Up Paddleboard) with a time of 53 hours and 4 minutes. Michelle Montague of Hermann came in 25th in her category and 222nd overall in women’s solo with a time of 77 hours and 35 minutes. Finally Aaron Duenke, competing in his first MR 340, finished 19th in his category and 300th overall in Men’s SUP with a time of 84 hours and 41 minutes.

Congrats to all the local competitors!
