Shamrocks Volleyball Snaps Rivalry Drought In Week Four

The varsity Shamrocks won two of their three games in week four and now hold a 14-5-1 record.

New Haven started their week with a bang in a rout over Eugene (6-6) on Monday, Sept. 23. They swept the Lady Eagles on the road, winning 25-23, 25-13 and 25-17. 

A day later, the Shamrocks pushed Hermann (6-11) to five sets and beat them in the final. New Haven snapped a ten-year losing skid against their rivals. The Lady Bearcats were victorious in the opening two contests (25-22, 25-20). But the Shamrocks refused to throw in the towel and rallied to win the final three sets (25-18, 25-23, 15-9). 

The Shamrocks continued conference play against Sullivan (7-8) on Thursday, Sept. 26. They dropped their fifth game of the season, falling 25-13, 25-17 and 27-25.

Eugene

Alayna Lagemann had a career-high 30 attacks and 13 kills against Eugene. She balled out with 14 points and a block.

Avery Strubberg led the Shamrocks with three aces. She stacked up 27 attacks, 12 points, eight kills and a block.

Isabella Groner had a team-high 23 assists. She also grabbed 19 attacks, 6 points, four kills and two aces.

Morgan Guehne notched 15 attacks, five assists, five scores, four kills and an ace.

Katie Holtmeyer had six attacks, 4 points, three aces and a block.

Megan Hoerstkamp delivered eight attacks, two aces and two assists.

Emma Gerdes spiked eight attacks and a kill.

Lesly Gerlemann launched two attacks, and Rachel Otten made a block.

Hermann

Strubberg had a career-high 46 attacks. She also led the Shamrocks with 16 kills while executing 18 points, an ace and a block.

Groner had a team-high 24 assists. She racked up 20 attacks, 9 points, seven aces and two blocks.

Lagemann led New Haven with 20 points and nine blocks. She also spiked 24 attacks and 11 kills.

Guehne racked up 13 assists, 12 attacks, 7 points, four kills and three aces.

Holtmeyer tallied 20 attacks and four kills.

Hoerstkamp fired 14 attacks and two aces.

Gerlemann blasted seven attacks while Maggie Hoener served up an ace.

Sullivan
