1992 Hit Film With Iconic ’70s Soundtrack Ranked Among Best Rock Movies of All Time

Tue, 05/12/2026 - 1:35pm

It seemed like Academy Award-winning filmmaker Quentin Tarantino was everywhere in the '90s and early 2000s. Among all of his films, one established him as an undeniable force in the industry—one that just so happened to have a killer soundtrack.

In January, Ultimate Classic Rock selected the best rock-focused movie from each year between 1955 and 2025. Listed among classic films such as Martin Scorsese's 1990 film Goodfellas and Cameron Crowe's 1989 film Say Anything, Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs was selected as the best pick of 1992.

Released on January 21, 1992 at the Sundance Film Festival, Reservoir Dogs emerged as a critical indie sensation. The movie marked Tarantino's directorial debut and was produced on a budget of only $1.2 million. Even though the film only grossed $2.9 million at the U.S. box office, it flourished internationally and through word of mouth. Reservoir Dogs quickly earned a glowing reputation for its non-linear storytelling, a style that would later come to define indie filmmaking.

Reservoir Dogs is a crime thriller that starred then-up-and-coming Hollywood talent such as Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth and Michael Madsen. The film follows the aftermath of a jewelry store heist gone wrong. A group of criminals are forced to hide out in a warehouse until the coast is clear, all while growing increasingly paranoid that an undercover cop is among them.

The movie is defined by one of the most iconic soundtracks of 1992. The film utilizes retro '70s pop music incorporated through a fictional radio station, "K-Billy's Super Sounds of the '70s." Several pivotal and intense scenes are framed by ironically upbeat tunes, including "Stuck in the Middle with You" by Stealers Wheel, "Little Green Bag" by George Baker Selection and Blue Swede's "Hooked on a Feeling."

Today, Reservoir Dogs continues to be one of Tarantino's most notable works. Although the film was not an instant mainstream hit, it blossomed into an undeniable cult classic that shaped the landscape of independent cinema for decades.

1958 Rock Ballad, Which Is Still a Popular First Dance Song Today, Became a Hit 68 Years Ago

Tue, 05/12/2026 - 1:35pm

68 years ago, The Everly Brothers reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart with their iconic rock ballad, “All I Have to Do is Dream.” It remained at the top of the chart for four weeks in a row. The song also hit No 1. on the rhythm and blues chart and made Rolling Stone’s list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

“All I Have to Do is Dream,” which was performed by siblings Don and Phil Everly, only took two takes to record. It was written by the husband-and-wife songwriting team, Felice and Boudleaux Bryant, and had romantic lyrics like, “When I feel blue in the night and I need you to hold me tight, whenever I want you, all I have to do is dream.”

Due to its soothing, beautiful lyrics and rhythm, the song became a popular first dance song that many couples have played on their wedding day. It has also been featured in many different television shows and movies over the years. They include The Simpsons, The Handmaid’s Tale, Dexter: New Blood, A Nightmare on Elm Street, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. It was also featured in the video game Mafia II.

In a 1968 interview, Don contributed their success as a band to the fact that they didn’t stick to only one genre over the course of their careers. "We've recorded country, R&B, twenties songs, and semi-classical material," Don said. "If we'd stayed doing variations of one style, we wouldn't have held the public's interest for long. Of course, we can't expect everybody to like everything we do, though there is a group of fans who buy anything we do."

Don continued, "Phil and I often get goosebumps from the excitement of what happens when we're playing. We don't know how it happens, but sometimes SOMETHING does. It's a great feeling, like jazz musicians get when they're jamming."

Some other popular songs by The Everly Brothers include “Cathy's Clown” and “Bye Bye Love.” The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986 and was added to the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2001.

Phil died in 2014 at the age of 74 due to complications from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Don died in 2021 at the age of 84.

1984 Soft Rock Ballad Spent Two Weeks at No. 1 and Became a Classic Love Anthem

Tue, 05/12/2026 - 1:25pm

In 1984, Lionel Richie scored one of the biggest hits of his career.

We’re obviously talking about the classic ballad Hello, which reached the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and stayed there for two straight weeks.

In fact, it topped three music charts, finding its way to the R&B chart for three weeks and the Adult Contemporary Chart for six weeks.

The song followed Richie’s first hit single, Truly, becoming the second U.S. solo number-one single for the ‘80s artist.

Hello was released as part of his album Can’t Slow Down, which also saw plenty of its own success.

As for why it became one of the defining tracks of the decade that still holds up 40 years later, it had an instantly recognizable piano intro, along with the iconic lyrics, “Hello, is it me you’re looking for?" tapping into emotions of yearning, vulnerability and insecurity.

Showcasing Richie’s soothing, soulful vocals, the emotional ballad style became a trademark for Richie, blending pop, soul and soft rock sounds.

The single became a global success, reaching number one in many other countries, including the UK.

And it came at the perfect time, as he was in the midst of his solo career following his success with the Commodores.

Related: 1978 Classic Ballad, Originally Written for Another Artist, Became the Band's First-Ever No. 1 Hit

In 2017, Richie told CBS This Morning that the classic hit started as a joke before becoming a timeless love ballad, stating, “It was a joke. My producer, James Anthony Carmichael, was coming to the house. I came walking around the corner and I said, ‘Hello, is it me you’re looking for?’ He said, ‘Finish that.’”

The song was also fueled by the music video, which scored plenty of airtime on MTV, though many have called it out in recent years. Richie starred as a professor who falls for a young blind student in his pottery class, who later reveals mutual feelings for him by showing him a large, sculpted clay model of his head and telling him, “This is how I see you.”

Despite the controversy, it’s recognized as an iconic moment in pop culture, particularly the clay head reveal, with the YouTube upload from five years ago amassing 131 million views

At the height of the song’s success, Richie was also hit with a lawsuit by songwriter Marjorie White, who claimed the song was based on her 1978 song, “I’m Not Ready to Go.”

Shortly after the release of Hello, Richie became one of the world’s best-selling artists with hits spanning All Night Long (All Night) and Say You, Say Me.

But whenever you think of Richie, even decades later, Hello remains the song that’s top of mind, a signature hit and one of the most recognizable ballads of the 1980s.

Scientists Reveal This Many Daily Steps Could Cut Your Dementia Risk by 51%

Tue, 05/12/2026 - 1:25pm

Unlike many of the diseases of our modern world, dementia has limited treatment options. While some medications may slow the progression, their effect is limited, and as of now, dementia has no cure.

There's nothing any of us can do to 100% prevent dementia, but research shows that around 45% of cases can be avoided with lifestyle modifications, and potentially more. That number is nothing to sneeze at, which is why neurologists are always encouraging their patients to eat a healthy diet, maintain social connections and exercise regularly.

Related: A Doctor Says the Strength of This Body Part Predicts Longevity—and Almost No One Realizes It

In fact, exercise is widely considered to be one of the most effective ways to boost brain health—yes, even above your daily crossword puzzle and "Connections" game. And you don't have to run a marathon to get the benefits—walking works great.

"Walking boosts blood flow to the brain and specifically to the hippocampus, which is the memory center that is most affected with Alzheimer's," Dr. Milica McDowell, PT, DPT and co-author of the new book Walk, tells Parade. "Walking boosts brain and nerve growth factors, which help our neurons stay healthy."

And there's actually a specific number of steps per day that could halve your dementia risk, according to the most recent research. Dr. McDowell breaks down what that number is, why walking should be considered the "sixth vital sign" and how to start walking if you've been sedentary for a long time.

The Number of Steps To Walk Each Day To Halve Your Dementia Risk

According to a 2022 JAMA study of over 78,000 people, those who walked around 9,800 steps per day were 51% less likely to develop dementia, and even 3,800 steps per day was linked to a 25% reduction in risk.

"This study is remarkable because it's very precise, but it's not surprising," Dr. McDowell says. "The difference between patients who walk daily and those who don't is easy to detect within the first few minutes of meeting them. Those who walk regularly are in better moods, report better sleep, have better pain tolerance, have better balance, lower fall risk and most importantly, have better cognitive clarity."

Related: Here’s Exactly What Happens to Your Body When You Walk 20 Minutes a Day

In the study, those who walked less declined faster on every metric compared to those who walked more. The reason the study is so important, Dr. McDowell emphasizes, is that it clearly states that 3,800 steps lowers the risk, rather than just establishing a correlation.

Walking as the ‘Sixth Vital Sign'

Walking regularly is important—clearly. But Dr. McDowell emphasizes that there's something you should pay attention to while you're walking that can help you detect cognitive changes significantly earlier than you would otherwise. "A slower gait can signal cognitive decline up to seven years before a clinical dementia diagnosis," she says. "Walking gait deserves the same attention we give blood pressure and heart rate."

When your gait slows down, she adds, it's rarely because one system is failing in isolation—it typically reveals that your whole system isn't functioning as well as it was. "Checking your walking speed a couple of times a year is a responsible way to monitor your baseline data, just like you would have your blood pressure checked at a medical visit," Dr. McDowell says. "Beyond your walking pace, pay attention to other symptoms such as increased falls, losing your balance, needing handrails or reaching for the wall when you didn't do so before."

If you're starting to fall behind loved ones when walking with them, she says, or they're unable to hold a conversation at a typical walking pace, these are also signs and symptoms you need to be aware of.

It’s Not Too Late To Start Walking for Cognitive Health

No matter how old you are or how long you've been sedentary, Dr. McDowell emphasizes that your brain still wants to change and grow; it's very neuroplastic.

"Research studies demonstrate that even sedentary older adults, when they start a walking program, can retrain their brains, and their brain health can improve," she says. "For those starting from zero, what's important is adding a minimum to get them to 2,500 steps a day. If we can increase that to 3,000 steps, it drops your risk of dying by 7%, and if you can get to 3,500 steps, it cuts all-cause mortality risk by 15%."

That's an incredible return on a 10-minute-per-day investment. And once you commit to walking around 3,500 steps per day, try to do this at least six to seven days a week for at least a month.

"After that, you can add about 10% per week," Dr. McDowell says. "If you stack walking with other activities you enjoy, such as talking to a friend, walking on a golf course or taking your dog for a stroll, it will reward you even more for showing up."

Here’s Exactly What Happens to Your Blood Pressure When You Eat Beets

Tue, 05/12/2026 - 1:25pm

If you have high blood pressure, you already know you need to watch your sodium intake and cut back on foods like salty chips, French fries and processed meat. But when it comes to managing blood pressure through diet, knowing what to eat is just as important as knowing what to cut back on.

Dr. Maya Vadiveloo, PhD, RD, an associate professor of nutrition and health sciences in the department of nutrition and food sciences at the University of Rhode Island, recommends the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) diet to anyone who wants to support their blood pressure through what they eat.

Related: The One Habit That Can Lower Blood Pressure Overnight, According to a Cardiologist

The DASH diet emphasizes eating lots of vegetables, fruit and whole grains, and moderate amounts of meat, low-fat dairy, nuts and seeds. “I always encourage people to think about their diet as part of an overall heart-healthy lifestyle rather than focusing on one ‘perfect’ food,” says Dr. Jayne Morgan, MD, a cardiologist, the vice president of medical affairs at Hello Heart and who is working with SeeYourRisks.com.

Dr. Morgan emphasizes that when it comes to eating for managing blood pressure, consistency is key. “Small, sustainable choices over time can have a meaningful impact on blood pressure and overall cardiovascular health,” she says.

While there are many, many foods that support blood pressure, one food people tend to overlook is beets. What makes this root veggie so beneficial for heart health? Keep reading to find out.

How Eating Beets Impacts Blood Pressure

Dr. Vadiveloo explains that beets have several nutrients that support blood pressure: potassium, fiber and antioxidants. Potassium supports blood pressure by reducing the effects of sodium and relaxing blood vessel walls.

As for fiber, scientific research shows a direct relationship between fiber intake and lower blood pressure. There are a few reasons for this. One is that fiber increases nitric oxide, a molecule that relaxes blood vessels. Fiber also produces short-chain fatty acids in the gut, which help blood vessels relax. On top of that, it helps keep blood glucose levels steady, and better insulin sensitivity is linked to better blood pressure regulation.

The antioxidants in beets support blood pressure by helping to reduce oxidative stress. Dr. Morgan and Dr. Vadiveloo explain that one reason why beets are especially beneficial for supporting blood pressure is that they contain nitrates, which act as antioxidants.

“Nitrates are converted to nitric oxide, which expands blood vessels,” Dr. Vadiveloo says. Dr. Morgan adds to this, saying, “Nitric oxide works on the blood vessels by causing relaxation, which lowers vascular resistance, and in turn then reduces blood pressure. This is actually the same pathway many cardiovascular therapies try to enhance.”

Both experts explain that the nitrates in beets (which are beneficial) are different from the nitrates found in processed meats (which are not beneficial). “Although they are chemically similar at the start, they behave differently because of their food context,” Dr. Morgan says.

She explains that, unlike in beets, nitrates in processed meats are often added as nitrate preservatives or as sodium nitrite. When they are exposed to high heat (such as during grilling or frying), it causes a chemical compound called nitrosamine to form, which is linked to cancer risk and endothelial dysfunction (a type of coronary artery disease that narrows arteries).

Other Ways Beets Support Heart Health

Supporting blood pressure isn’t the only reason why beets are good for heart health. Dr. Vadiveloo explains that their fiber, potassium, vitamin C and other antioxidants all help lower the risk of cardiovascular disease.

“Additionally, as you increase vegetable and fruit consumption to the seven to nine servings a day [recommended by the DASH diet], you are replacing other foods that are high in added sugars, salt and saturated fats, which are related to a higher risk of cardiovascular disease,” she says.

Related: Exactly How Many Steps a Day Can Lower Your Blood Pressure

Dr. Morgan notes that she considers beets a multi-mechanism cardiovascular food. “This is because they are also a very good source of potassium, which promotes the excretion of salt and decreased blood pressure,” she says, adding that beets’ deep red color comes from an antioxidant called betalain, which lowers inflammation and also protects against endothelial dysfunction.

“Further, beets provide folate, which helps lower homocysteine. Homocysteine is linked to vascular injury and blood clot risk. And finally, beets contain dietary fiber and therefore improve lipid profiles and support glycemic control. This further feeds the gut microbiome, as well as providing downstream cardiometabolic benefits,” she adds.

As you can see, there are tons of heart-health benefits for eating beets. Whether you roast them with olive oil and your favorite spices, buy pickled beets and add them to your salads or drink beet juice, you’ll be taking one great step in managing your blood pressure. The cardiovascular benefits of this veggie are tough to, well, beat!

Costco Is Quietly Bringing Back a Food Court Favorite to U.S. Warehouses

Tue, 05/12/2026 - 1:25pm

Costco shoppers have started noticing a small but meaningful change at the warehouse food court, and it is getting people talking. In several U.S. locations, a familiar favorite is quietly making its way back after disappearing for years.

The return is part of a broader pattern of updates across Costco food courts. From condiment stations to side options, Costco seems to be making major moves. And at the center of this latest change is deli mustard, a longtime staple that many say once defined the classic Costco hot dog experience.

Costco Deli Mustard Makes a Quiet Comeback at Food Courts

Deli mustard at Costco food courts refers to a grainy, brown mustard known for its coarser texture and stronger flavor compared to standard yellow mustard. It was a popular topping for Costco hot dogs before it largely disappeared during the pandemic, when many self-serve condiment stations were scaled back.

Now, Costco locations across the U.S. are reportedly bringing deli mustard back, with shoppers seeing it reappear alongside yellow mustard and ketchup. On Reddit, Costco members have been sharing sightings of the condiment returning at their local warehouses, with some saying it has been available for the past few weeks. Availability varies by location.

The change is not entirely uniform. Costco deli mustard availability still appears to vary by region and individual warehouse, with some stores restoring it earlier than others.

Costco Food Court Changes Spark Nostalgia and Strong Reactions

Iv-olga / Shutterstock.com

The return of Costco deli mustard has sparked a wave of nostalgia among longtime members who remember the original condiment setup. Online reactions show a mix of excitement and humor, with some shoppers saying they could not believe it was back after years of absence. Others are already pairing Costco deli mustard with hot dogs and chicken bakes, calling it a simple upgrade that makes a big difference in flavor.

Costco food court changes often draw attention because the menu is tightly tied to customer loyalty and habit. Even small updates like the return of deli mustard can quickly become talking points among members who closely follow warehouse offerings. Some shoppers are also hoping this signals a return of discontinued food court items, with sauerkraut frequently mentioned as another long-lost favorite.

I'm headed to Costco as soon as possible to try this one.

Legendary Rock Song Band Claimed 'Was Awful' Became First No. 1 US Hit 39 Years Ago

Tue, 05/12/2026 - 1:05pm

Back in late 1985, Irish rock band U2 was fresh off The Unforgettable Fire Tour and buckling down to record the songs they'd begun writing while on said tour. A very rough first draft of "With or Without You" was in progress, with the opening chords being written by Bono. Despite trying many variations of the song, the band wasn't making any progress and lead guitarist, Edge, even considered what they were coming up with to be totally "awful."

As sessions for what would become the album The Joshua Tree were underway in 1986, the band continued to attempt to make sense of the song, but Bono was reluctant to change it. Because of all of the back and forth about the track, the band considered scrapping it entirely as they couldn't find a version that they all agreed they liked.

After Edge was sent a prototype of the Infinite Guitar and Bono continued working on the song with friend Gavin Friday, they were able to create a sustained effect with the prototype and the backing track. Edge recorded the guitar part on the model in just two takes, and Bono started to come around to the sound of the song. Bono would end up writing the lyrics to the song while in Côte d'Azur, and "With or Without You" was finally fully realized.

U2's manager was reluctant to release "With or Without You" as a single given how different it is sonically. However Gavin Friday was certain they had a hit on their hands and the song was released as the lead single for The Joshua Tree two weeks after the album's release. "With or Without You" debuted at number 64 on the US Billboard chart in March of 1987, but by May 12th, 1987, the song officially became the band's first number one hit in the United States. The song spent three weeks at the top of the chart, and 18 weeks in total on the Hot 100.

"With or Without You" was released to universal acclaim. Rolling Stone called the song an "inventively arranged tune... that builds from a soothing beginning to a resounding climax." The song frequently appears on lists of the best rock songs of all time including those from Rolling Stone, Blender, and The Guardian.

Fans love "With or Without You" and it is the second most covered song of all time for U2. It is almost always included when U2 tours and no set list from the band 39 years later would be complete, with or without it.

"Every passing second to that family probably seems like 100 days," he pointed out. "So yeah, there's a lot of stress there for them, but they just need to know that we're not giving up."

After again addressing FBI Director Kash Patel's criticism of the Pima County Sheriff's Department's handling of the case, Nanos addressed the DNA evidence.

"We know we have some very good DNA, and that DNA is being worked with by several labs," he explained. "You know, I get the frustration. Everybody wants to know what's going on, what do you have, but we have rules, and science has rules. They have guardrails in place to make sure that that science is solid, that they understand the importance of their DNA analysis."

As investigators continue to pore through forensic analysis, video evidence, and other tips, Nanos said Nancy's case is far from going cold. He also acknowledged that some information is being withheld from the public to "protect the integrity of the case."

Finally, Nanos said that although the number of tips coming in has waned, he remains hopeful.

"I've just got all the confidence in the world," he told the outlet, before promising, "This case will not go cold. We will, we will resolve it."

1960 Iconic Classic, Banned by Some Radio Stations, Became a No. 1 Hit

Tue, 05/12/2026 - 12:52pm

In 1960, American girl group The Shirelles released "Will You Love Me Tomorrow," a song that became one of the most talked-about songs of their career.

Some of the more conservative radio stations reportedly banned the track from being played due to suggestive lyrics that were deemed unacceptable for the time. However, this didn't stop the song from becoming a big hit, as the controversies pushed it to become a best-selling chart-topper.

Released in November 1960, the song entered the Billboard Hot 100 on November 21, 1960, and reached number one just a couple of months later, on January 30, 1961. It was the first-ever song by an all-black female group to chart on the Billboard Hot 100, and it stayed at the number one position for two weeks.

The song was written by a legendary songwriting duo: 18-year-old Carole King and her then-husband, Gerry Goffin. Exploring themes of intimacy and the implication that a young woman lost her virginity after a first date, the lyrics were said to have been too "sexually charged" for the time.

Per Rolling Stone, The Shirelles almost didn't record "Will You Love Me Tomorrow". In a podcast interview with the outlet, songwriter King, who also composed the music and worked on the string arrangements for the recording, revealed that the song originally sounded quite different from the now-iconic finished product.

When it was first written, the track had a country vibe, as opposed to the more pop-R&B sound that we now know and love. The Shirelles had originally turned down the country-esque version, which the group reportedly weren't on board with.

"I heard in later years that the Shirelles didn’t want to do it because it sounded too country,” King recalled. “That’s a thing I’d never put together until now.”

Of course, the group ultimately decided to go ahead and record the redefined track, and evidently, the decision paid off.

Ryan Seacrest Reveals Major Behind-the-Scenes Secret of 'Wheel of Fortune'

Tue, 05/12/2026 - 12:47pm

In a recent Q+A with the Wheel of Fortune studio audience, host Ryan Seacrestanswered a question that, it turns out, many fans have been wanting to ask.

Asked how he knows how many of each letter is in each puzzle — and how quickly he knows — the longtime host shared that while he does his homework before the show, he has somewhat of a "cheat sheet" to help him out.

"Last night I memorized all of the puzzles, and I do my exercises in the morning to remind me," he explained.

"It's funny, that's all I wanted to know when Pat [Sajak] hosted this show, I'm like, 'How does he know?' Growing up I wondered that, and then I got to find out," he added. "The secret is there's a little monitor down there and it flashes quickly, the number, if I miss it, then I don't say it. If I see it, I say it."

"So when you watch, if I don't say 'four!' then I missed it," he shared.

The exchange, which was posted to Instagram garnered a bunch of comments from viewers, and even a former contestant, who had the same question.

"This has been my biggest Wheel question for so many years," one said.

"I was a contestant on the show and I still wondered this forever," said another.

"So interesting!!! I always wondered that too," added a third.

Other commenters, however, just gushed about how they love Seacrest, who is also the host of American Idoland Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve.

"Never did I think I would love someone hosting this show other than Pat… but he is the BEST!" one viewer said.

"Ryan is so fun and personable with the contestants. Love him!" added another.

Seacrest took over the hosting gig in September of 2024 following Sajak's 40-year stint on the show. While Sajak has retired, Vanna White has remained and is Seacrest's counterpart. Sajak's daughter also serves as the show's social media correspondent.

Wheel of Fortune airs Monday-Friday at 7 p.m. on ABC and can be streamed on Hulu.

Bennett did admit it was a bit challenging to get back into the daytime groove after nearly 25 years. The actor previously starred on All My Childrenas Adam "J.R." Chandler Jr. from 2001 to 2002.

There’s no question that the fast pace of filming General Hospitalwas quite different than filming Hallmark movies, but Bennett admitted it didn’t take him long to find his daytime groove.

“I’m feeling excited, and I’m also laughing because I can’t wait for the world to see what Joe Fitzpatrick is really all about,” Bennett teased to TV Guide magazine. He also admitted that he did not have returning to soaps on his bingo card for 2026.

The timing of Joe's arrival in Port Charles has some fans speculating that the character could be a possible love interest for Lucas (Van Hansis). However, if that is the case, it probably won’t happen for a while.

Lucas is still reeling from Marco’s (Adrian Anchondo) death and is out for revenge against Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) and Sidwell (Carlo Rotta) for it. Perhaps Joe will help Lucas find justice for Marco, but only time will tell.

Whatever happens, Bennett is thrilled to be back in the soap world. The actor previously called going to General Hospital a no-brainer, and he’s thrilled to be part of the show.

General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC.

Robert Irwin Death-Rolled by a Crocodile He Named After Jimmy Fallon

Tue, 05/12/2026 - 12:42pm

Robert Irwin is walking in his late father's footsteps as a wildlife conservationist and photographer. Also like his father, Irwin researches crocodiles in the wild, which led to a hilarious yet terrifying story about one croc, which was named after The Tonight Showhost.

While appearing on stage alongside Jimmy Fallon on Friday, May 4, Irwin opened up about the encounter with a "boss croc" named after Fallon.

In the TikTok clip, which was shared the following Tuesday, Fallon asked, "You have a baby crocodile that you named Jimmy Fallon?"

"I did!" Irwin exclaimed, before explaining, "You know what, Jimmy, he's not a baby anymore. I named this crocodile years ago, and he's now what you'd call a boss croc. He's huge, right? So we research crocodiles in the wild to better conserve them, right?"

Irwin went on to share, "So the way you do that, my dad came up with this, is that you have to jump on them, right? So I jumped on the back of Jimmy Fallon and get this... the little.... deathrolled me. I jumped onto him, I kid you not, 14 foot of crocodile, big croc, deathrolled me."

"So I'm stuck underneath him with my arm hanging out, I've got like probably, I don't know, maybe 700 pounds on top of me, and I'm just like 'What do I do?' And luckily, he rolled back the other way, and I was fine, but he's a goer!"

Fallon, clearly tickled by this story, cheered on his namesake crocodile as both men laughed.

For those unfamiliar, a death roll is when a crocodile spins its body lengthwise after grabbing hold of its prey. In this case, the prey, or at least the intended prey, was the 22-year-old Dancing with the Stars winner, who voluntarily jumped on the crocodile's back in the name of science.

The harrowing encounter is all in a day's work for Irwin, who has spoken openly about how honored he is to continue his late father's work. "Behind everything I do is a conservation mission that my dad started," Irwin declared in October 2025, while paying tribute to the late crocodile hunter, Steve Irwin.

2x Oscar Winner, 88, Is a Gray-Haired Goddess in Black at Cannes Opening Ceremony

Tue, 05/12/2026 - 12:42pm

Jane Fonda, 88, brought classic Hollywood glamour to the Cannes Film Festival once again.

The two-time Oscar winner turned heads Tuesday, May 12, while arriving for the opening ceremony of the 79th Cannes Film Festival in Cannes, France. For the occasion, Fonda wore a shimmering long-sleeved black gown covered in sequins, paired with a dramatic silver necklace and her signature gray curls styled in voluminous waves.

As photographers lined the iconic red carpet outside the Palais des Festivals, the actress posed confidently in front of a sea of flashing cameras, proving once again why she remains one of Cannes’ most enduring style icons.

Fonda attended this year’s festival as part of her longtime partnership with L’Oréal Paris, which is celebrating her 20th year with the brand during the 2026 festival. The actress is also expected to support the upcoming film Ceasefire, in which she portrays Ambassador Jean Kennedy Smith.

The opening ceremony launched the 79th edition of Cannes with the world premiere of La Vénus Electrique (The Electric Kiss), a French romantic comedy directed by Pierre Salvadori. The festival’s main competition jury this year includes Demi Moore, Chloé Zhao, Ruth Negga, Stellan Skarsgård and jury president Park Chan-wook.

Fonda has a long history with the Cannes Film Festival stretching back decades. In 2007, she received an honorary Palme d’Or recognizing her contributions to cinema, and she previously presented the festival’s coveted Palme d’Or prize in 2023.

The actress has remained a major Hollywood figure across seven decades of film and television. Fonda won Academy Awards for Klute and Coming Home and earned additional Oscar nominations for films including They Shoot Horses, Don’t They?, Julia, The China Syndrome and On Golden Pond.

Beyond acting, Fonda became a cultural phenomenon in the 1980s with her bestselling workout videos before later returning to acclaimed roles in projects like Grace and Frankie, Book Club and 80 for Brady.

Even among Cannes’ endless parade of designer gowns and celebrity appearances, Fonda once again proved she knows exactly how to command a red carpet moment.

1972 No. 1 Hit Became the Longest Classic Rock Song of All Time

Tue, 05/12/2026 - 12:39pm

Jethro Tull's 1972 classic release, "Thick As a Brick," (accidentally) became a progressive rock anthem. Not only that, the track is the longest rock song ever recorded, lasting over 40 minutes. In fact, it is so long, it's the only one on the entire album.

Written by flute-flailing frontman Ian Anderson, the album’s artwork claimed its contents to be a musical adaptation of a poem by a fictional 8-year-old boy, according to VH1. In a 2022 interview, he described the hit as an "absurdity," admitting that it started as somewhat of a joke.

“When I wrote Thick As a Brick, I tried to approach it in a humorous and satirical way. The whole idea happened very quickly. It was done in a fast and furious period of time," he told Louder Sound at the time. "Some of the elements in the lyrics are quite serious, where I drew upon my own childhood and my own early experiences for ideas for sections within the overall work. But I was also drawing very much on the world of the eight-year-old Gerald Bostock. It was part of the absurdity."

Online, Largest.org ranked the 10 longest rock songs ever, with the Jethro Tull release coming out on top, notching a 43-minute and 50-second run time. "There is also a radio edit version of the song that’s shortened dramatically in order to provide a nice sampling of the music that would fit within the constraints of a radio song. Thick as a Brick is also said to be the first of Jethro Tull’s albums that consisted entirely of progressive rock," the entity noted.

The landmark album became famous for containing the single, 43-minute song split across both A and B sides of its vinyl. It hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 on June 3, 1972, holding the top spot for two weeks. Additionally, it was an international smash, reaching No. 1 in Canada, Australia, and Denmark, and peaking at No. 5 in the UK.

Decades after its release, fans still celebrate the historic track. "A wise man once said, 'Who knew a satire of progressive rock could be one of the best progressive rock albums of all time?'" one wrote in the comments section of a YouTube video.

"Jethro Tull needs to be in the Rock Hall of Fame, who agrees with me! This is a piece of history. I have it on vinyl," another added, with a third chiming in, "The album unfolded into a newspaper. Still have my original. Saw this concert after the album came out. After an hour and twenty minutes, Ian said, 'now for the 2nd song.'"

Pizza Hut Makes a Cheesy Offer for Free Pizza This Weekend

Tue, 05/12/2026 - 12:30pm

Pizza Hut is celebrating National Pizza Party Day with a totally cheesy deal, but in the best way.

Ahead of the May 15 holiday celebrating the experience of gathering with loved ones and sharing a pizza, the multinational pizza restaurant revealed it's giving fans an incentive to choose them to cater their upcoming get-together.

In an official statement shared in an email with Parade on Tuesday, Pizza Hut announced a buy-one-get-one-free deal on large pies for National Pizza Party Day.

Pizza Hut Celebrates National Pizza Day With a Limited-Time BOGO Deal

To be clear, Pizza Hut's buy-one-get-one-free offer is valid on large pies (not any other menu items) this Friday, May 15. Which makes sense—it is National Pizza Party Day and not National Pizza Day (observed annually on Feb. 9), National Fettuccine Alfredo Day (Feb. 7), or National Breadstick Day (the last Friday of October).

Mark Consuelos Details 'Brutal Five-Month Saga' Before His Father's Death: 'I Miss My Dad'

Tue, 05/12/2026 - 12:20pm

Mark Consuelos announced to fans that his father, Saul Consuelos, had died on March 23 after a lengthy illness. The Live with Kelly and Mark co-host opens up about the reality of knowing about his father's passing, and finally admitting to himself how much he misses him.

According to People, Consuelos appeared on an episode of iHeartRadio's I've Never Said This Before with Tommy DiDario podcast that was recorded on May 1. The actor reflects on losing his father and admits it "was kind of a brutal five-month saga leading up to him passing. I knew it was happening. We all knew, this is going to happen."

At the time, Consuelo previously revealed that he was able to say goodbye to his father while working on the Broadway production Fallen Angels. He later learned of his death while in tech rehearsals for the production, but admits working on the play was a "welcome distraction."

The TV host adds that he had hoped for his father to have a "merciful exit," and was happy that "it happened that way — very quickly and painlessly." Neither Consuelo nor his family has publicly released details surrounding the cause of death or the illness. During the podcast, the actor admits that despite having tried to prepare for the loss, his father's death hit him hard.

"My father’s a mythical character to me," Consuelos explains. "He’s, like, the best man I’ve ever met. Everything good that I’ve kind of glommed onto of how I carry myself comes from him."

Consuelos also openly shared a heartfelt realization of missing his father. He admits to having never said those words, "Because he’s always been in my life. He’s always been available to me." The memorial service held for his father also made him realize the heartbreaking reality, and admit he will miss "just giving him a hug and holding his hand and just laughing with him. That’s something I’ve never said in my life. I’m going to miss my dad."

Lara Trump Is a ‘Crazy Dog Lady’

Tue, 05/12/2026 - 12:16pm

Inflation just surged to a three-year high, Hantavirus cases are rising, and just about everything you hear from the current administration makes you want to crawl into bed and cover yourself with a weighted blanket for the rest of the year. But wait! There’s a bright spot. Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, just shared a ‘paws-itvely’ adorable video of her dogs, and instantly, everything is better.

If your day isn’t exactly going well, we have the antidote. Trump’s (Lara, that is) latest Instagram video features a minute and a half of, um, her dogs. The First Daughter-In-Law aptly captions the clip, “90 seconds of my dogs…and further proof that I’m a crazy dog lady.” And yes, she is!

View this post on Instagram

The video features her pups panting, playing, and going on walks with Lara and Eric Trump’s eight-year-old daughter, Carolina Dorothy Trump. Fans flocked to the post, praising the clip with comments such as, “What would we do without our furbabies,” and, “I get it! I’m a crazy dog lady too! I like dogs more than people!”

Lara Trump Is a Loving Pet Parent

Trump doesn’t just love her dogs; she loves all dogs. The Fox News host sits on the board of Florida’s Big Dog Ranch Rescue. Earlier this month, she publicized the Ridglan Farms beagle release in Wisconsin after abuse allegations against the breeder surfaced. Lara posted a video on Instagram, thanking “everyone who went out of your way to make your voice heard on this,” adding, “This is important stuff, um, you know we can judge societies by how they treat those with no voice and those who are the most vulnerable, and certainly you could put these beagles at Ridglan Farm in that category.”

Of course, Trump doesn’t only advocate for beagles. But as you can see in the video, she has more than one of her own. The former RNC chair went on to say (in the Instagram clip), of her beagle Betty, “She’s totally nuts, and I love every second of it.”

But the pet parenting clips don’t stop there. Back in March, Trump posted a video from New York City, saying, “If you don’t know about the best hidden gems in New York City, I’m about to tell you. Dog parks are the creme de la creme of New York City…This is my space, I’ll be here all day.” And she wasn’t kidding. Dressed to impress, Lara heads into the park to hang out with her furry BFFs.

So if you need a little pick-me-up, we suggest checking out Lara Trump, the crazy dog lady, and her canine companions.

Nancy Guthrie Update: Retired FBI Agent Says the Case Is 'Still Moving' (Exclusive)

Tue, 05/12/2026 - 12:15pm

More than 100 days after Nancy Guthrie disappeared from her Arizona home, investigators may still be quietly working through one of the most critical pieces of evidence in the case. While public updates have remained limited, former FBI Supervisory Special Agent Jason Pack tells Parade that DNA evidence and forensic genealogy could play a major role in eventually uncovering answers—even if that progress is happening far from public view.

One major thing still lingering in the case is the results from the FBI's testing of DNA in the form of human hair. This testing, Pack says, takes time, but could ultimately be the break that everyone has been hoping for.

"One of the most important publicly known aspects of this case appears to be the DNA evidence and the possibility that investigative genetic genealogy could help narrow a suspect pool," Pack says. "If that process is underway, analysts at the FBI Laboratory and partner labs could be painstakingly working through family trees, forensic comparisons and elimination work that takes far longer than television crime dramas would have people believe."

"That kind of work is slow because it has to be right," Pack continues. "Investigators still have to do the work the old fashioned way. Evidence matters. Facts matter. Timelines matter. Real investigations are built quietly. One interview. One timeline. One forensic result at a time. That is why the public should not confuse a lack of headlines with a lack of effort."

Pack tells Parade that some of the "biggest breaks" he's seen have come from following up on an old lead or having a witness remember "one small detail." He's also seen cases where technology "finally" catches up with evidence.

"If investigators are still reviewing evidence, revisiting timelines and pushing forensic analysis forward, then the case is still moving, even if most of that movement happens far from television cameras and social media speculation. And sometimes the most important breakthroughs happen quietly long before the public ever hears a word about them," he adds.

Anyone with information about Guthrie’s whereabouts or who might be responsible for her disappearance is asked to call the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI.
