’80s Thrash Metal Frontman, Who Survived Rare Cancer, Announces New Project
Chuck Billy, the iconic frontman of the band Testament, is stepping into the spotlight, but this time with an exciting project beyond the stage.
For over four decades, the vocalist of the thrash metal band has proven his influence in the music scene with signature songs like “Practice What You Preach,” “Over the Wall” and “Disciples of The Watch,” as well as a fierce stage presence that is impossible to ignore.
However, behind his musical achievements, Billy has announced an exciting new project that has fans eager for what’s next.
In an Instagram update, the 63-year-old rocker announced the upcoming release of his memoir Holding My Breath: The Two Testaments of Chuck Billy.

“METALHEAD BROTHERS AND SISTERS! I’m stoked to announce that my memoir, “Holding My Breath”, is officially available for pre-order at chuckbillybook.com. This book is about two versions of me that are really just one story; the guy who thought he was invincible, and the guy who learned how fragile life really is,” the caption reads.
The book, which was described as "not your typical rock memoir,” focuses on his journey on and off the stage, especially his health battle in the early 2000s that forced his music career to pause.
“He screamed his way into metal history. Then cancer tried to silence him for good. Now, for the first time, Chuck Billy—the iconic frontman of Bay Area thrash legends Testament—tells the whole truth in his unflinching memoir, Holding My Breath: The Two Testaments of Chuck Billy, publishing November 10, 2026, from @permutedpress,” as mentioned in the post.
View this post on InstagramScheduled to be released on November 10, 2026, the memoir features a two-part narrative, with the “Old Testament” tracing his rise in music career while the “New Testament” covers his cancer battle and recovery.
In 2001, Testament’s lead vocalist was diagnosed with germ cell seminoma, a rare type of cancer that was detected near his heart.
According to him, the diagnosis was an accidental discovery that ultimately saved his life.
“The doctor called back and everything was fine with my wife, but they wanted me to come in for a CAT Scan on my chest and further X-rays,” the musician told Legendary Rock Interviews, adding, “That’s how they found it. So it was kind of like a fluke situation. If that lady had never knocked on my door to sell my house, I probably would have died and never seen it coming because I had a tumor in my chest that was the size of a squash. It was growing off my heart and pushing on my lungs, which is why I couldn’t breathe. I didn’t have any space in there for my lungs to expand.”
At the time, he underwent chemotherapy and, being a Native American, he utilized traditional medicine, including seeking help from spiritual healers.
A year into treatment and recovery, he was declared cancer-free in 2002.
Now, Billy remains healthy and has stayed cancer-free for over 24 years.

4 Zodiac Signs Will Have Secrets Revealed Under May's Flower Moon in Scorpio
Whatever has been hidden these past six months will finally be revealed under the full flower moon in Scorpio on May 1, 2026. Secrets, secrets are no fun. May’s powerful and enlightening flower moon demands honesty from all zodiac signs. Everyone will confront their inner truths and finally learn what’s been going on behind their backs. Not every secret will be tumultuous—some could bring forth unexpected joy, surprise, and happiness.
Regardless of what will arise, May’s flower moon in Scorpio says four zodiac signs are owed the truth. These four zodiac signs have been left in the dark long enough, so they will finally be vindicated during this enlightening lunation. Read on to discover which zodiac signs will have secrets revealed during the flower moon in Scorpio.
Flower Moon Timeline- May 1, 2026: Full “Flower” Moon in Scorpio
Each full moon coincides with nature’s rhythms and seasonal cycles. May’s full moon is always known as the “Flower Moon”, since it represents springtime blooms. May’s flower moon brings forth a sense of optimism and renewal, as it shows that there’s life after death. This will be especially important to remember, since all full moons represent the end of a six-month cycle. The flower moon signifies that even if one door closes, another will surely open.
Intensity will unfurl during this lunation, given that the flower moon will be in Scorpio. Scorpio is a fixed water sign that carries a profound depth and intuition, so you may have an inkling as to what will be revealed. The flower moon will guide you to the answers you seek, but Scorpio’s energy could allude to obsessiveness and stubbornness. Nobody will give up until what’s been said or done behind closed doors is revealed. Of all zodiac signs, there will only be four star signs destined for life-changing truth bombs and revelations during the flower moon.

Which Zodiac Signs Will Have Secrets Revealed this Flower Moon?Keep reading, and look for your Sun, Moon, and Rising signs. The fixed zodiac signs—Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius—will be most affected by the Full Flower Moon in Scorpio in May 2026.
Scorpio: Your True Self EmergesBe honest with yourself, Scorpio, as the flower moon illuminates your first house of identity and selfhood. The last six months may have left you spiraling. You could have felt lost in your journey of self-discovery if you stopped recognizing yourself. Struggling with your age, stage of life, and current circumstances may have stalled self-actualization. Grappling with a lack of self-control isn’t easy, especially if you were in denial of who or what you’ve become. The flower moon encourages you to take a hard look at yourself without fear of judgment. Own what you can do within your means to improve yourself. You have what it takes to become whatever you wish.
Taurus: A Partner is Withholding SomethingSomeone will come forward when the flower moon spotlights your seventh house of commitment and contract. Taurus, there’s no doubt that you’re selective about your partnerships. You value trust, integrity, and honesty above all else in each relationship and commitment. Much to your dismay, another party you have joined forces with might not have been entirely honest with you. The other party might have withheld information, but this doesn’t mean they want to necessarily hurt your feelings. It won't be easy, but you should be open to what the other party has to reveal during the flower moon. Once you know their secret, you will know where you stand in this connection.

Aquarius: The Path Forward is ClearA new calling emerges, Aquarius. After six months of introspection, the flower moon will finally reveal the purpose in your tenth house of success and career. A career you were once proud of may have lost its luster or reached the end of its rope. However, leaving one career path for another undefined one wasn’t a risk you wanted to take. You may have been afraid of losing control over your success, professional reputation, and legacy by jumping ship if the new career path wasn’t a guaranteed success. Thankfully, the flower moon will restore your confidence by cluing you into your next steps. Whatever’s revealed will help you proceed with your next professional calling.
Leo: Family Secrets Will Be RevealedSomething in your private life will suddenly make sense. Leo, the flower moon encourages truth in your fourth house of home and family. You may have been like a dog with a bone these past six months if you were stuck on a past event. Perhaps something from your childhood resurfaced, causing you to dive deeper than ever before. Current family and domestic affairs may have weighed heavily on your mind if you felt like you were missing an important piece of the puzzle. Luckily, the flower moon will bring you the clarity and certainty you seek either by figuring it out on your own or with the help of a loved one.

Forget Expensive Treatments: This 'Holy Grail' Serum Helps Fix Split Ends Overnight
Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.
Split ends are the great equalizer of hair care. Doesn't matter if your hair is fine or thick, curly or straight, color-treated or completely virgin—if you use heat, brush aggressively, sleep on a cotton pillowcase or simply exist in the world with hair on your head (hi!), split ends are coming for you eventually.
Yet, they remain one of those things people either aggressively try to treat with the wrong products or ignore entirely until they're looking at damage that's traveled halfway up the shaft. Neither approach is doing your hair any favors.
Here's what's actually true: no product on earth can fully repair a split end. Every stylist and scientist will tell you the same thing—once the hair has split, cutting it is the only way to truly get rid of it. But that doesn't mean treatment products are useless. Far from it.
The right split end serum or mask can seal and smooth the damage so it's nearly invisible, protect already-fragile ends from splitting further and—when used consistently—meaningfully reduce how fast the damage comes back. Think of it less like surgery and more like a very good bandage that also happens to make your hair look incredible.
The market for split end treatments has evolved in recent years. Where once you had a handful of heavy oils and drugstore serums, you now have peptide-based formulas that work at the structural level, overnight masks that rebuild bonds while you sleep and lightweight leave-ins designed specifically for fine or curly hair that used to be left out of the conversation entirely.
To find out which ones are actually worth your money, we talked to five professional hairstylists—Rogerio Cavalcante, founder of Brazil Edition; T Cooper, professional hairstylist; Chaz Dean, founder of WEN and celebrity hairstylist; Brendnetta Ashley, hairstylist; and Jon Reyman, Global Creative Director for Goddess Maintenance Co.—about what causes split ends, what ingredients actually help and which 11 treatments they recommend (including one called out as a "holy grail" serum).

The honest answer, per Reyman, is life. "Split ends are the result of damaged, compromised hair, and the causes are everywhere," he says, rattling off five categories—chemical, heat, mechanical, water and environmental damage. All of them contribute.
Ashley points to heat styling, chemical services, friction from rough detangling or cotton pillowcases and skipping trims as the main culprits.
Cooper adds "lack of moisture" to the list, explaining that curly, coily and kinky hair types tend to be more vulnerable specifically because the natural oils produced at the scalp have a harder time traveling down a tightly coiled strand. "When the ends get less protection, they tend to split faster," she says.
Fine hair is also at higher risk—Cavalcante says it's simply more delicate, meaning it reaches its breaking point faster than thicker strands. But as Cooper puts it, split ends don't really discriminate. She sees them across all hair types, especially in anyone who colors or heat styles regularly.

Can You Actually Repair Split Ends Without Cutting Your Hair? No—and every expert on this list agrees on that.
"I'm gonna be so real with you," Cooper says. "Once the hair is split, that's it." Products can make split ends look and feel better, she explains, and temporarily seal them to prevent further damage—but the split is still there. "The only real fix is cutting,” says Cavalcante.
That said, he adds that the right products can seal the ends, smooth them and make the damage almost invisible.
What products actually do, Reyman explains, is "mask, strengthen and support the hair, protecting it from getting worse and smoothing the appearance of damage." That's genuinely valuable, especially in the weeks between trims. Think of treatment products as maintenance between cuts rather than a substitute for them.
Related: 9 Stunning Long Shag Haircuts To Inspire You, According to a Celebrity Stylist
The Ingredients That Actually Help Repair or Seal Split EndsCavalcante's approach is to layer different types of ingredients that each do different jobs. Peptides reinforce the hair's internal structure; oils and butters soften and reduce breakage; silicones seal everything together and give that polished, smooth finish. "It's really about strength and smoothness working together," he says.
Cooper flags silicones specifically as the most effective ingredient for the smoothing and sealing job—they coat the split end and make it look polished even when it can't be truly fixed. She also recommends argan oil and coconut oil as solid alternatives.
Dean is a devoted fan of plant-based oils across the board. Coconut, argan and abyssinian oils all share the ability to deeply nourish and "fill in the cracks" of damaged cuticles, he explains, making hair appear smoother and shinier until you can get in for a trim.
For color-treated or chemically processed hair, the experts are unified: you need moisture and strength working together. Cavalcante recommends prioritizing peptides for structural support, richer butters for softness and UV protection to prevent further color damage. Ashley adds bond builders to the list for anyone whose hair has been chemically processed, since those work from within the hair structure rather than just on the surface.
Related: 7 Best Hairstyles for Long Hair, According to a Celebrity Stylist
How To Prevent Split Ends From Coming BackPrevention, as it turns out, is more about habits than products—though the right products definitely help. Cooper's list is thorough: regular trims, keeping hair moisturized, staying hydrated, limiting heat styling and always using a heat protectant when you do. She also flags friction as something people underestimate. A silk pillowcase is a genuinely impactful swap.
As far as haircuts, Ashley's trim schedule recommendation is every six to eight weeks, trimming just a quarter to a half inch. You don't need to lose length to stay on top of split ends; you just need to stay consistent.
11 Best Split End Treatments, According to StylistsBest Overall: Kérastase Résistance Sérum Thérapiste, $62Kerastase
Shop It at KérestaseCavalcante returns to this one constantly—and has for years, making it what he calls the "holy grail" serum for split ends. It's a highly targeted formula built specifically for damaged ends, and he says the results are immediate.
"It smooths, seals and makes the hair feel instantly stronger," he explains.
For a treatment that's meant to be used on already-compromised ends, the fact that you can see a difference after the first use matters enormously. This is the kind of product you reach for when your ends feel like they've given up entirely.
Best Overnight Treatment: Olaplex No.3 Hair Perfector, $30Amazon
Shop It on AmazonCavalcante recommends this one for anyone who wants to work on their hair's internal structure while doing absolutely nothing. Apply it before bed, sleep on it and wake up to hair that feels meaningfully stronger.
The bond-building technology is Olaplex's whole thing, and No.3 delivers it in a format that's accessible enough for at-home use. It's not a quick fix (the benefits, of course, compound over consistent use!) but as a long-term repair habit, it's one of the most established options in the category.
Best for Color-Treated Hair: Olaplex No.7 Bonding Oil, $30Amazon
Shop It on AmazonChemically processed hair needs bond support as much as it needs moisture, Cooper says, and this oil delivers both while adding shine and heat protection in the process. It's lightweight enough to not weigh hair down but substantive enough to make a difference—which is a harder balance to strike than it sounds for hair that's been through a color service.
Best for Curly Hair: Kinky-Curly Knot Today Leave-In Conditioner, $14Amazon
Shop It on AmazonCooper's pick here addresses the specific challenge of curly and coily hair—that natural oils don't travel down the shaft the way they do on straighter textures, leaving ends perpetually under-protected.
This leave-in moisturizes, defines curls and doesn't flake, which she specifically calls out as a non-negotiable for tighter curl patterns. It's also the kind of everyday product that builds protection over time rather than just addressing damage after it's already happened.
Best for Fine Hair: Oribe Featherbalm Weightless Styler, $52Amazon
Shop It on AmazonFine hair's biggest enemy is a product that promises repair but delivers weight. Cooper loves this one because it was developed specifically for fine textures—it smooths, adds shine and gives you the flexibility to blow dry or air dry after application without the hair going flat.
This protects and polishes the ends without making them look or feel like they've been coated in anything. For fine-haired people who've given up on treatment products because everything feels too heavy, this is the one to try.
Best for Thick or Coarse Hair: Innersense Repair Mask, $38Amazon
Shop It on AmazonThick and coarse hair can handle a more substantial formula—and often needs one. Cooper's pick here is a protein-rich mask that gets into dry, rough ends and nourishes them without leaving residue or buildup.
"The protein-rich formula nourishes dry ends and helps prevent further breakage," she says. For anyone whose ends feel perpetually dry no matter how much they condition, a dedicated mask like this is the move.
Best Leave-In Treatment: Brazil Edition Leave-In Treatment, $38Amazon
Shop It at AmazonCavalcante developed this one himself, and the daily protection angle is the whole point. A great leave-in isn't just about immediate smoothing; it's about what it does to your ends every single day when you're not thinking about it.
This one smooths, protects against heat and UV damage and keeps ends sealed as a baseline habit. For split end prevention specifically, consistent daily leave-in use is one of the most impactful things you can do between trims.
Best Split End Serum: NUELE Hair Serum, $38NUELE
Shop it on Nuele"It smooths the ends without making the hair greasy," Cooper says, noting that she reaches for it constantly for touch ups on set—which is the real endorsement. A serum that works across different hair types without leaving residue is harder to find than it should be. This one delivers the polished, sealed-end look without any of the heaviness that makes most serums a commitment rather than a versatile tool.
Best Hair Mask: WEN Re-Moist Hydrating Hair Mask, $58Amazon
Shop It on AmazonDean uses this one as part of a dedicated treatment protocol for clients who need serious repair. He layers it with WEN Treatment Oils applied from scalp to ends, then lets the mask work—30 to 45 minutes for a quick treatment, or several hours if you're doing a proper Self-Care Sunday.
The sustained contact time is part of what makes this format so effective for genuinely damaged ends. If you're going to commit to a real treatment session, this is a worthwhile centerpiece.
Best Budget Treatment: Pantene Pro-V Miracle Rescue Intense Rescue Shots, $12CVS
Shop It at CVSCooper's budget pick, and she's enthusiastic about it in a way that's hard to fake. The single-use shot tube format means you're getting a concentrated dose of treatment without having to measure anything out or worry about the formula degrading over time. They protect hair bonds, condition and add shine—and they do it for the kind of price that makes stocking up a completely reasonable idea.
Best Preventative Treatment: PATTERN Breakage Barrier Hair Mask, $35Amazon
Shop It on AmazonThe best split end treatment is the one that means you need less split end treatment. Cooper specifically chose this for its preventative function—it hydrates and strengthens simultaneously to reduce breakage by half with consistent use.
For anyone who's been in a cycle of treating the same damage over and over, shifting the focus toward prevention is the smarter long-term play. Use it regularly and you'll likely find you're dealing with significantly less damage to treat in the first place.

The holes also let excess water drain through to prevent overwatering and root rot.
One reviewer said that their favorite feature of these planters is the self-watering system because they “don’t have to stress about keeping up with watering all the time.” Another shopper agreed and said, “It works great for keeping our plants hydrated while we’re on vacation.” A third customer described these planters as “so cute and adorable.”

The Best Way to See Crete Without the Mediterranean Crowds Is at This Stunning JW Marriott Reopening
If you’ve only ever experienced Crete as a frantic eight-hour cruise stop, you’ve been missing out on the island’s true character. As Chef Suzy Karadsheh recently shared with us, the authentic Crete reveals itself when you slow down and head into the mountains for lamb antikristo or a long, olive oil-drenched village lunch.
But for 2026, there’s a new way to experience that local flavor without having to hike a gorge. JW Marriott Crete Resort & Spa officially reopened for its first full season on April 15, and it’s positioning itself as the calm antidote to the wall-to-wall crowds of the Cyclades.

Expansive Rooms and Low-Slung DesignJW Marriott
Set above the bay of Marathi near Chania, the property feels like an expansive hideaway. Instead of the typical blue-and-white spectacle that dominates the Greek islands, the architecture is responsive to the coastline. The 160 rooms and suites are designed with a soft, neutral palette and natural textures—warm woods and cool stone—that make the indoors feel like an extension of the rugged outdoors.
According to the property, the resort "is defined by its nature-led architecture, expansive sea view accommodation and immersive wellness offering," and has quickly established itself as a flagship destination. If you’re looking for real privacy, the earth-sheltered villas are the best bet. Many feature private pools that extend directly toward the horizon, offering a secluded spot to watch the Aegean without ever leaving your terrace.

Poolside Vibes and Social Hubs ScreenshotJW Marriott
The social heart of the resort is centered around the stunning adults-only pool, which acts as a quiet lookout over the sea. For those who want a bit of a scene without the noise, the Suncti poolside bar serves chilled drinks throughout the day, while the Eēxis lounge transitions from afternoon aperitivos to evening cocktails.
The resort partnered with the Soulshakers mixology collective, so the drinks aren't your standard vacation fare. Whether you're gathering for a sunset toast or find yourself at the dedicated yoga deck for a morning session, the shared spaces are built to feel open and breezy.

The Cretan Culinary Journey ScreenshotJW Marriott Crete
Crete is preparing to become the European Region of Gastronomy this year, and the resort is honoring that legacy across four distinct restaurants. The menus focus on "seasonal ingredients sourced from local farmers, fishermen and artisanal producers, with many elements drawn directly from the resort’s own JW Garden."
- Õnalos: Fresh-caught seafood served right above the water (the best spot for a sunset dinner).
- Anoee: A modern take on Cretan classics, using olive oils from family-run groves.
- Fayi: All-day Mediterranean dishes shaped by seasonal ingredients.
Perhaps the biggest win for savvy travelers is that because this is a JW Marriott property, you don’t necessarily have to pay the high-season sticker price. You can use Marriott Bonvoy points to book your stay, making that dream Greek island trip much more attainable. If you've been sitting on a stash of points from your business travel or credit card spending, this is exactly the kind of high-value redemption that makes the whole experience feel like a win.
Lee Harvey Oswald’s Widow Is Still Alive — Where Is Marina Oswald Now?
Minsk, April 30, 1961. A 19-year-old pharmacist says "Da" to an American defector. She thinks she’s headed for the American Dream in the West. Two years later, she’s sitting in a Dallas police station while the world screams for her husband’s head.
Marina Prusakova Oswald Porter is 84 now and she isn't in a Siberian gulag or a Moscow high-rise. She still lives in Dallas, and has remained there since that infamous day in 1963. The last time she was pictured was in 2013, at a Walmart in Texas.
For almost sixty-three years, the most infamous widow in American history has maintained a life of normalcy. She raised daughters who eventually changed their last names. She married a drag racer named Kenneth Porter. She clocked in for shifts at a department store, disappearing into the Dallas suburbs.
But you don’t just walk away when your first husband, Lee Harvey Oswald, altered history with a mail-order rifle. Marina once described her life as a weight she couldn't drop. "I feel like a hunchback," she said. "The stone that's trapped on me, I cannot get rid of it."
Lee Harvey Oswald, his wife Marina Nikolayevna Prusakova, and their daughter June Lee (Photo: Getty)Photo by National Archives - JFK on Getty Images
The reality of her day-to-day life is a woman trying to live her life without a tabloid photographer jumping out from behind the dairy case. The mail still brings hate mail, marriage proposals, and conspiracy zines to her porch.
Her public stance on the assassination has shifted over the decades. In 1964, she told the Warren Commission she believed Lee was guilty. Her husband’s actions also left her with a burden: “[I]tried to prove that I am worthy of this country, tried to go backwards to please people. … ‘Please like me, I’m OK,’” she once said.
“You learn to live not with the guilt that you shed because you are you and you’re not responsible for somebody’s doing, whether it’s your child or husband, gradually you get out of that guilty conscience,” Oswald’s widow continued. “I’m sympathetic to Lee, many times, but I’m also angry at him. He left me to swim in the dirty water. … So many times I questioned: ‘Did he use me as well? Does he really care for me at all?’”
By the 1990s, she had changed her mind, appearing on Hard Copy insisting he was a patsy. “I could never put Lee against JFK,” she said. “That never made sense to me.”
A major shift in her private life occurred recently. Porter, her husband of nearly 60 years, died in late 2024. For decades, he acted as her primary gatekeeper, shielding her from the researchers and Kennedy hunters who still park down the street with long lenses.
Oswald’s widow doesn't give interviews or write books. The conspiracy community already has a million versions of her life scripted. They track her to the local pharmacy. They zoom in, searching for a clue in the way she carries her grocery bags.
Public fascination remains high because she is the last living bridge to Dealey Plaza. She is the one who saw the rifle in the garage. She is the one who lived through the domestic violence that defined the Oswald household before the shots were fired.
History hasn’t decided if Marina Oswald is a hero or a villain. But what can be said is she is a woman who traded a Soviet struggle for an American one. The tragedy of November 22 belongs to history. But the aftermath belongs to the woman who has spent the last sixty years trying to be anyone other than Mrs. Lee Harvey Oswald.
1974 Feel-Good Country Favorite, Celebrating Life's Simple Pleasures, Became a No. 1 Crossover Hit
John Denver had a way of making life’s simplest moments feel special, and a No. 1 crossover hit, released in 1974, is a perfect example of his gift as a songwriter.
"Back Home Again" is one of Denver's most beloved songs, celebrating the idea of slowing down and being present in the moment. The tune, which is deeply rooted in country tradition, but celebrated the pop and folk music genres, became a huge crossover hit.
The song was Denver's first No. 1 on Billboard's Country Music chart. It hit the top spot in November 1974 and remained on the charts for 14 weeks in total. "Back Home Again" simultaneously found huge success on the Billboard Top 100, peaking at No. 5.
The song shared the same name as Denver's 1974 LP, which featured classic songs such as "Grandma's Feather Bed," "Annie's Song," "Thank God I'm a Country Boy," and "Back Home Again."

According to American Songwriter, the reflective song echoed Denver's feelings about being on the road and returning home to his family. Its lyrics told the story of returning to "a fire softly burning, supper’s on the stove, but it’s the light in your eyes that makes him warm."
RELATED: John Denver Called This 1975 Classic ‘One of the Best Songs’ He Ever Wrote
These words are said to have mirrored Denver’s conflicted feelings about success. His popularity kept him away from home and from his wife, Annie Martell Denver, and their two children, for long stretches at a time. While he cherished the simplicity of home life, he also understood that touring was the price of making a living as a musician.
According to Songfacts, Denver's producer, Milt Okun, explained the song's meaning in the liner notes of a compilation LP of the entertainer's greatest hits.
"That song came out of John being on the road so often and that feeling of being back home again. I loved the lyrics. That's one of the nicest songs he wrote," Okun penned.

He concluded, "John loved being on the road. Actually, he loved singing for people. If he could have stayed home and had 10,000 in the living room every night, he would have loved that more. But it's sad that all that travel broke up his marriage. There was a price to pay."
According to HISTORY, the song's popularity led Denver to win Entertainer of the Year one year later, at the 1975 CMA Awards, and Song of the Year for "Back Home Again." He was also nominated for Album of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year.

Why The 'Fluxury' Trend Is The Smartest New Way To Travel This Summer
While the word "luxury" often brings to mind gold-plated faucets and stiff-upper-lip service, a new travel trend is taking over that values soul over spectacle. It’s called "Fluxury"—a portmanteau of "Flexible" and "Luxury"—and it’s the secret sauce behind the current shift toward "bespoke budgeting"—maximizing the experience by being strategic about where you spend and where you save.
In a recent conversation with Tara Cappel, founder of FTLO Travel, she told me about the term and explained that travelers today are trading the corporate, five-star hotel chains for a high-low mix that prioritizes cultural immersion.
Same Adventure, Better SheetsCappel started FTLO in 2016 with a specific mission: to create a brand that made young professionals—especially solo women—feel "heard and seen and comfortable to sign up for a group tour with strangers." Growing up in the tourist economy of Sun Valley, Idaho, Cappel understood early on that luxury isn't about isolating yourself from a destination; it's about connecting with it.
At the time, she noticed a massive gap in the market. For most young women she met, a high-end travel experience seemed like something reserved for a "really cool honeymoon"—it didn't feel attainable or accessible for a solo adventurer. The existing group tours were often "college bus tours" or mixed demographics that didn't resonate with someone looking to connect with people at a similar life stage.
The formula resonated: today, a staggering 75% of her travelers are either repeat customers or word-of-mouth referrals. But as her original community has evolved over the last decade, so have their needs. "We really do care about the thread count on the sheets now," Cappel laughs.
This led to the launch of FTLO Elevated, a series that provides the same social and cultural aspects that long-time fans love, but with "nicer hotels and some more premium touches." It’s a way for the brand to grow alongside its travelers, proving you don't have to sacrifice comfort to find an authentic connection.

What Exactly is Fluxury?Fluxury is the art of the "smart splurge." It’s the realization that you don’t need a 24-hour butler if it means you can afford a private boat day in the Mediterranean.
"We might stay at a more budget three-star hotel in a small town," Cappel explains. "But that saves budget for doing an incredible cooking class in the middle of a vineyard with a nice bottle of wine." It’s about piecing together an experience that combines premium details where they actually matter—like the quality of the trip leader and the food—with authentic stays that keep you engaged with the local community.
Take FTLO’s top-selling trip to Sardinia, for example. In the coastal town of Cala Gonone—home to some of the bluest water in the world—the group stays at a modest, family-run hotel designed for local Italians rather than international tourists.
"Staying at a more modest hotel affords us the budget to have private boats for the day," says Cappel. This "Fluxury" trade-off allows travelers to spend their afternoon on a private excursion with wine and lunch, accessing hidden coves that are unreachable by land.

3 "Fluxury" Escapes for Summer 2026If you're ready to test the Fluxury waters, here are three ways to do it this summer:
- The Barcelona "Sea-to-Suite" Hack: Fly JetBlue’s newly launched daily non-stop from Boston to Barcelona. Spend three nights at the iconic W Barcelona—which is undergoing a massive rooms renovation—before hopping on a 3-Day Windstar Cruises' Taste of Southern France, sailing to Sète and Collioure. Windstar’s small-ship feel is the ultimate Fluxury move: you get the intimacy of a private yacht with the amenities of a luxury line.
- The Antibes Sanctuary: Take Delta’s brand-new nonstop flight from Boston to Nice (launching May 2026). Skip the massive resorts in Cannes and retreat to Villa Fabulite in Cap d'Antibes. This 12-room boutique hideaway offers the "Blue Mind" serenity women crave, with a heated pool and lush gardens just minutes from the coves.
- The FTLO Sardinia Signature: Join Cappel's own Sardinia tour, which has become a "can't stop booking" favorite. The trip bases you at Hotel Cala Luna in Cala Gonone, a boutique, family-run stay positioned directly on the Lungomare promenade. The Fluxury moment? Trading a corporate hotel for an 8-day immersion that a full-day private speedboat excursion through the Gulf of Orosei to explore neon-blue sea caves and the hidden beach of Cala Mariolu. As Cappel says, "Sardinia isn’t the kind of place you rush through… this island deserves your full attention."

Why Are 2028 Olympics Tickets So Expensive? Everything To Know About the LA Summer Games
The 2028 Summer Olympics are heading back to Los Angeles for the third time—and if you know anything about LA, you know they're about to do it big. Running from July 14–30, 2028, the Games of the XXXIV Olympiad are taking over Southern California with a very 2020s twist—zero new permanent venues, massive existing stadiums doing double duty as swimming pools, and events scattered from the beaches of Venice to softball fields in Oklahoma City. Because why build new stuff when you've already got SoFi Stadium, Dodger Stadium and the iconic Rose Bowl just sitting there?
LA previously hosted the Olympics in 1932 and 1984, and both times the city left its mark on Olympic history. The 1932 Games introduced the first-ever centralized Olympic Village (revolutionary at the time!), while 1984 brought peak '80s spectacle with laser shows, simulated flying saucers and a 750-member marching band at the closing ceremony. So naturally, expectations are high for what LA28 will deliver.
This time around, they're adding some very American sports to the lineup—like flag football—while bringing back cricket for the first time since 1900 and completely reimagining the Opening Ceremony with a never-before-attempted dual-venue format. With over 15,000 athletes competing in 351 medal events across 36 sports, the 2028 Olympics are shaping up to be the most ambitious Summer Games in recent memory. Here's everything you need to know about LA 2028!
When Are the 2028 Summer Olympics? The 2028 Summer Olympics officially run from July 14–30, 2028, though some preliminary competitions will kick off as early as July 13. The opening ceremony happens on Friday, July 14 at 8:00 p.m. ET, and the closing ceremony wraps everything up on Sunday, July 30 at the LA Memorial Coliseum.
The 2028 Paralympics follow immediately after, running from August 15–27, 2028, marking LA's first time ever hosting the Paralympics. That's 23 sports—including the debut of paraclimbing—all contested at the same venues used for the Olympics.
Fair warning if you're planning to attend the 2028 Olympics: July in Los Angeles means beautiful beach weather along the coast, but potentially brutal inland heat. Expect temperatures in the 80s and 90s Fahrenheit near the water, with triple-digit temperatures possible in venues farther from the ocean. Pack your sunscreen and stay hydrated!
When Do 2028 Olympics Tickets Go On Sale? The LA28 Olympic cauldron is lit, ahead of the launch of ticket registration for the 2028 Summer Olympic Games.Photo by FREDERIC J. BROWN on Getty Images
Tickets for the 2028 Olympics are already in motion. The first registration window for the LA28 Ticket Draw ran January 14 through March 18, 2026, with Drop 1 ticket sales taking place April 9-19, 2026 for fans who scored a time slot.
The draw system means you register for specific sessions you want to attend, then get selected (or not) when tickets are allocated. It's designed to give everyone a fair shot rather than creating a mad rush that crashes websites and favors people with the fastest internet connections. Drop 2 is set for August 2026, with rolling drops continuing through the lead-up to the Games.
Tickets start at $28, with at least one million tickets at that price point. Paralympic tickets go on sale in 2027. For those who want guaranteed access, hospitality packages through On Location (the official hospitality provider) offer premium seating, exclusive lounge access and accommodations bundled together.
Why Are LA 2028 Olympic Ticket Prices So Expensive? While LA28 promised tickets starting at just $28, the reality has caused major sticker shock for fans who scored time slots in the first ticket draw. Some 2028 Olympics tickets are going for $1,000 or more, with opening ceremony seats reportedly priced at over $5,000. One of Parade's editors, Colleen Broomall, was thrilled to win the ticket draw lottery, only to be floored by the pricing. "The $28 is not representative of pricing for the popular events," she told me. "I paid $557.36 for two tickets to the women's basketball championship—and that included an $84.50 service fee. It's a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but that was way beyond my planned budget."
The contrast with the 1984 LA Olympics is striking. Tickets to the 1984 Games started at just $3—about $10 today adjusted for inflation—and opening ceremony seats went for around $100, the equivalent of about $300 in today's dollars. Now, those same opening ceremony tickets are reaching 50 times that price.
LA28 has responded to the backlash, emphasizing that at least one million tickets are priced at $28 and that a third of all tickets are under $100. Organizers also point to outside factors driving up costs, including bots, brokers and resellers snapping up high-demand inventory. Still, with Drop 2 set for August 2026, fans are watching closely to see whether prices come down—or whether the affordability promise was, as one ticket lottery winner put it to The Times, "total incompetence or a total lie."
Where Will the 2028 Olympics Be Held? While Los Angeles is the official host city, calling these the "LA Olympics" is honestly underselling it. The 2028 Olympics location spans nearly 50 competition venues spread across Southern California and beyond—from San Diego to San Jose, with softball and canoe slalom all the way out in Oklahoma City.
The organizing committee arranged venues into geographic clusters to make navigation easier. The DTLA (Downtown Los Angeles) Zone includes venues like Crypto.com Arena, the LA Convention Center and Peacock Theater, while the Inglewood Zone features the massive SoFi Stadium and the brand-new Intuit Dome. Meanwhile, Long Beach hosts its own cluster along the waterfront, and venues in Pasadena, Venice Beach, Orange County and the San Fernando Valley round out the Southern California footprint.
This is the first Summer Olympics in 80 years to not build any new permanent venues—organizers are using existing stadiums, arenas and facilities that were already part of LA's sports infrastructure. It's a sustainability play that also saves massive amounts of money, following the model that made the 1984 LA Games financially successful.

What's the Deal With the Dual Opening Ceremony? The 2028 opening ceremony will be co-hosted by two venues simultaneously: the LA Memorial Coliseum (pictured) and SoFi Stadium in Inglewood.Photo by AFP Contributor on Getty Images
Here's where things get interesting. For the first time in Olympic history, the 2028 opening ceremony will be co-hosted by two venues simultaneously: SoFi Stadium in Inglewood and the LA Memorial Coliseum.
The Coliseum holds special significance—it hosted both the 1932 and 1984 LA Olympics, and the 2028 Games will make it the first stadium ever to host three different Olympiads. Including it in the dual opening ceremony not only honors that legacy, but also acknowledges that the nearly century-old venue—built in 1923—can't accommodate the scale of modern Olympic ceremonies alone.
SoFi Stadium, meanwhile, is one of the most technologically advanced sports facilities on the planet. The $5 billion venue opened in 2020 as home to the NFL's LA Rams and Chargers, and boasts an Infinity Screen by Samsung—also known as the Oculus—that's basically a high-tech miracle. Combining the historic Coliseum with ultra-modern SoFi creates a past-meets-future vibe that feels very LA.
The closing ceremony will be held exclusively at the Coliseum on July 30, bringing things full circle at the venue where LA's Olympic story began in 1932.
What New Sports Are Being Added for LA 2028?Six sports are either making their Olympic debut or returning after long absences, and they're a fascinating mix of very American additions and long-overdue comebacks.
1. Flag FootballThis fun sport makes its Olympic debut, bringing a non-contact version of American football to the global stage. Given that the NFL is a cultural juggernaut in the US, this feels like a natural addition for an LA-hosted Games. The sport will be played at BMO Stadium (called Exposition Park Stadium during the Olympics) right next to the Coliseum.
2. SquashAfter years of lobbying from the global squash community, the sport will also debut at LA 2028. The fast-paced racquet sport has a devoted following worldwide and will finally get its Olympic moment in the Comcast Squash Center located at Universal Studios.
3. CricketCricket returns for the first time in 128 years! It was last seen at the 1900 Paris Olympics and its inclusion reflects cricket's explosive global popularity—particularly in India, Pakistan, Australia and the Caribbean. Matches will be held at a temporary cricket stadium built at the Fairplex in Pomona, which is about 30 miles east of Los Angeles.
4. LacrosseAnother sport back after a century-long absence is lacrosse, last played in the 1908 Summer Games. But this time, there's a twist: Instead of traditional 10-player teams, the Olympics will feature a "sixes" format with just six players per side, making for faster, more dynamic gameplay.
5. BaseballBaseball returns to the Olympics after being left out of the Paris 2024 program. The sport will be played at Dodger Stadium—one of baseball's most legendary ballparks. Did anyone say Dodger dog?
6. SoftballSoftball also makes its Olympic comeback after getting benched in the 2024 Olympics—and the timing couldn't be better. The sport is having a major cultural moment, with the 2025 Women's College World Series averaging a record 1.3 million viewers per game and outdrawing the Men's College World Series for the first time in history.
However, unlike most LA 2028 events, softball heads out of state to Oklahoma City—the U.S. softball capital—where existing facilities will host the women's tournament. (Per IOC tradition, baseball is contested as a men's sport and softball as a women's sport at the Olympics.)
All told, the 2028 Olympics will feature 351 medal events—22 more than Paris 2024—spread across 36 sports. New mixed-gender team events in archery, athletics, gymnastics, golf, rowing and table tennis will further expand the program.

Where Will Swimming Be Held at the 2028 Olympics? Team USA's Regan Smith, Kate Douglass, Gretchen Walsh and Torri Huske celebrate winning gold at the Singapore 2025 World Aquatics Championships.Photo by Maddie Meyer on Getty Images
In perhaps the most audacious venue decision, swimming at the 2028 Olympics will be held at SoFi Stadium. Yes, the football stadium. Organizers plan to install a massive temporary pool inside the arena, creating what will be the largest swimming venue in Olympic history with capacity for 38,000 spectators.
This is a dramatic departure from traditional Olympic aquatics venues, but it speaks to LA28's commitment to using existing facilities rather than building new ones. The original plan called for constructing a temporary pool at USC's Dedeaux Field, but that was scrapped to save costs.
Artistic swimming (synchronized swimming) will take place in Long Beach, while diving moves to the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center in Pasadena—a facility built with leftover funds from the 1984 LA Olympics.
Which Iconic LA Venues Will Host the 2028 Olympics? Some of LA's most legendary sports and entertainment venues are getting in on the Olympic action, creating unique settings you won't see at most Games.
The LA Memorial Coliseum hosts athletics (track and field) and becomes the first venue to host three Olympics. Dodger Stadium—one of baseball's most iconic ballparks—naturally hosts Olympic baseball. The Rose Bowl in Pasadena stages the soccer finals, joining the LA Memorial Coliseum as the only stadiums in the world to host three Olympic Games.
Basketball games will be held at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California.Photo by Edgardo Medina/NurPhoto via Getty Images
Crypto.com Arena—home to the Lakers, Kings and Sparks—handles artistic gymnastics, trampoline and the boxing finals, while the brand-new Intuit Dome hosts basketball. SoFi Stadium pulls double duty with both the opening ceremony and swimming.
But LA28 is also embracing unconventional venues that showcase Southern California's diversity. Long Beach's Alamitos Beach hosts beach volleyball, while skateboarding heads to the Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area in the San Fernando Valley.Santa Anita Park in Arcadia—famous for thoroughbred racing—handles equestrian events. And perhaps most unexpectedly, Trestles Beach in San Diego County (located between LA and San Diego) hosts surfing at one of the world's most famous surf breaks.
Even Universal Studios Hollywood is in on the action, hosting squash at the Comcast Squash Center. Point is, the willingness to think creatively about venues sets LA 2028 apart.
Will 2028 Olympics Events Be Held Outside California?Yes—in a cost-saving move that's generated some debate, two sports will be contested in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, about 1,350 miles from Los Angeles.
Softball will use Devon Park (the longtime home of the Women's College World Series), while canoe slalom heads to Riversport OKC—both existing venues that saved organizers from building temporary facilities in Southern California. It's a practical decision that saves money and reduces environmental impact. But it also means those sports won't have the full Olympic atmosphere of being in the host city during the Games.
Soccer (football) preliminaries will also be played nationwide before the knockout rounds move to California. Confirmed preliminary venues include stadiums in New York, Columbus (Ohio), St. Louis, Nashville, San Jose and San Diego. The match schedule will progressively move west as teams advance, minimizing travel for finalists.
This distributed approach reflects modern Olympic realities—it's often more efficient to use existing world-class facilities than to build new ones that might not get used after the Games end.

How Many People Will Attend the 2028 Olympics?Organizers expect over 15,000 athletes to compete across the Olympics and Paralympics combined. Add in coaches, officials, media, sponsors and spectators, and you're looking at millions of people descending on Southern California over the summer of 2028.
The exact spectator count will depend on venue capacities and ticketing strategies, but with SoFi Stadium alone holding 38,000 for swimming and the Coliseum seating over 77,000 for athletics, individual sessions could draw massive crowds. LA28 plans to sell roughly 14 million tickets total—the equivalent of selling out four entire Dodger Stadium seasons in a single month—according to LA28 CEO Reynold Hoover. LA's extensive hotel infrastructure and transportation network will be tested like never before.
Hoover also shared that a 50-state torch relay is planned to kick off in April 2028, designed to "bind the nation to LA and California." That's a whole lot of build-up before the Games even begin!
The ‘Happy Days’ Cast Has a Group Text—Here’s Who’s In It (and What They Don’t Talk About)
If you were a fan of the '70s and '80s television series Happy Days, surely you wonder if the actors who played the younger fellas—Ron Howard (Richie Cunningham), 72, Henry Winkler (Arthur 'Fonzie' Fonzarelli), 80, Anson Williams (Potsie Weber), 76, and Donny Most (Ralph Malph), 72—are still friends after all these years. Well, they most certainly are! In fact, the four of them even share a group text.
This week, Anson Williams joined the 2 B*tches From Texas podcast with hosts (and 70s and 80s actresses) Morgan Fairchild and Cathryn Hartt. The three chatted, and in between sharing some Happy Days insider stories, Williams revealed the four old friends still stay in touch to this day. In fact, he says, there is actually a Happy Days group text alive out there!

"It's so funny because even up till today we have an open text thing," says Williams, referring to their group text. He adds that the group includes, "Ron, Donnie, Henry, and myself."
If you're wondering what the foursome talks about in their group text, Williams only said they always answer each other right back (he snapped his fingers to show how quickly). He also revealed the surprising topic they don't discuss in the text: business. They don't talk shop.
"We've been friends for 52 years," Williams says. "And it has nothing to do with business. It has to do with friendship. There's a deep, deep friendship."
It's quite funny to think of their Happy Days characters interacting in a modern-day group chat. I mean, how would Fonzie make his cool-guy entrance? How do you even spell 'Ayyyye'? Would Ralph Malph's hilarity come through? Surely his jokes via text would go over Potsie's head anyway. And Richie, he would probably start every text with "Golly, guys..."
Of course, we'll never know how that would go, but it does warm the heart to know the old friends stay in touch five decades after they worked on such an iconic show together. No word if Scott Baio knows about the group text ...

Amazon’s ‘Soft’ and ‘Breathable’ $8 Tank Top Is a ‘Summer Staple,’ and It Comes in 35 Colors
Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.
When you’re building a capsule wardrobe, one of the most important pieces to have on hand is a reliable everyday tank top. It’s one of those staples you can throw on without thinking, and you’ll probably end up wearing it more often than you expect. While it’s easy to assume basics need to be expensive to look polished, there are plenty of affordable options that still feel elevated and well made.
The Anrabess Ribbed Scoop Neck Tank Top is a great example of that balance. Right now, it’s on sale for 46% off on Amazon, bringing the price down from $15 to just $8. That makes it an easy addition to your wardrobe, especially if you’re looking to stock up on essentials ahead of summer.
Anrabess Ribbed Scoop Neck Tank Top, From $8 (was $15) at Amazon Shop at AmazonIt’s available in a wide size range from extra small through 4XL, making it accessible for different body types. The fabric is made from 92% rayon and 8% elastane, giving it a soft feel with a comfortable stretch. It has a medium thickness that keeps it from feeling too sheer, and it’s easy to care for with a gentle cold machine wash.
The fit is slim and designed to be slightly body hugging without feeling restrictive. One standout detail is the vertical ribbed texture, which adds subtle dimension while also enhancing the stretch. It keeps the top from looking too basic, even when you’re styling it in a simple outfit.
The scoop neckline and wide straps are both practical and flattering. The straps are bra-friendly, which makes the tank easier to wear day to day. A thicker binding around the neckline gives it a more structured look, so it feels closer to a polished top rather than something you’d only wear as an undershirt.
This tank fits perfectly into a minimalist capsule wardrobe. It’s simple, versatile, and easy to mix and match with other pieces. While it’s especially useful in the summer on its own, it also works year round. You can layer it under sweaters in the winter, flannels in the fall, or lightweight cardigans in the spring.
With over 400 five-star ratings, shoppers seemed to love it too. One reviewer described it as “simple, comfortable, and versatile,” adding, “The fabric is soft, breathable, and not too thin, which is perfect for layering or wearing on its own.”
Another shopper dubbed it a “summer staple,” writing, “The fit is perfect — it is stretchy, tight, but it is comfortable! You can wear it under a blazer to work or with a pair of jeans shorts on the weekend. They are also extremely comfortable for lounging or even sleeping in.”

‘I’m a Pilates Instructor—These Are the 5 Moves I Give Every Client Who Wants To Lose Weight After 50'
Whether you’re looking to boost muscle definition, burn some calories or a combination of the two, Pilates is a stellar training modality to consider. Doing exercises on the mat and the reformer can strengthen your deep core muscles while improving mobility, flexibility, functional movement and overall mind-body connection. Basically, Pilates is your golden ticket to building a lean, mean physique—and research backs this up. According to a 2021 study published in Frontiers in Physiology, Pilates can result in a significant decrease in both body weight and body mass index (BMI) and body fat percentage.
How exactly does Pilates impact the scale? While it can help you build a toned body, it isn’t a “calorie-crunching HIIT class—and thank goodness for that,” notes Lesley Logan, Pilates instructor at OnlinePilatesClasses.com, who has taught thousands of students and trained hundreds of Pilates teachers. It’s effective because it helps sculpt lean muscle, which is incredibly important as you age and we naturally start to lose that muscle mass.
“Muscle is metabolically active—it burns more than fat even when you’re just sitting on the couch. Plus, when you move better, you move more in your daily life. That’s the secret sauce,” explains Logan.
Below, Logan shares with us five moves she gives every client who wants to lose weight after 50—i.e. someone who may have a slower metabolism and is looking to build muscle. Keep in mind that these exercises shouldn’t be performed as a clunky circuit, but rather, they are a flow. Move from one exercise to the next without taking a water break or checking your phone every two minutes, Logan instructs.

The 5 Best Pilates Moves for Weight Loss Over 50, According to an InstructorLogan selected these moves because they fire up the entire body, challenge your heart rate via control rather than chaos, and help tweak your alignment as you work.
She says, “If you’re coming to me for a ‘magic pill’ to drop 20 pounds by Tuesday, you’re in the wrong studio. I’m not about the scale; I’m about how you move through the world.”
When clients 50+ tell Logan their goal is to “lose weight,” they're also typically striving to feel capable in their own skin once again. This means they’re craving a functional transformation. They want to feel firm rather than “soft” and feel confident enough to get up off the ground or carry grocery bags with ease.
“They want the ‘zip’ back in their step, the ‘tone’ in their arms and to stop feeling like their posture is collapsing into their lap,” she tells Parade. “If we want to support a changing body, we don’t need more 'grind,' we need more connection."
Here's how to actually do it.

1. The HundredLogan’s flow begins with the hundred to get your blood pumping—she calls it “internal heat.” If you aren’t breathing deeply during the exercise, you’re not burning.
- Start seated on a yoga mat.
- Roll back, bringing your chin to your chest and hovering your shoulders above the floor.
- Extend your legs to a 45-degree diagonal, bringing them together and pointing your toes.
- Extend your arms out in front of you.
- Keep your lower belly gently drawn in as you swiftly pump your arms.
- Sync your breath in a smooth rhythm, inhaling for 5 seconds and exhaling for 5 seconds. Make sure your abdomen does not protrude.
- Do this 10 times (one full inhale and one full exhale counts as 1 rep).

2. Abdominals“This is the ultimate stamina builder. It forces the core to support the limbs while they’re in motion—that’s where the ‘tone’ happens,” Logan says.
In a typical Pilates abdominal series, you’d likely perform exercises like the double-leg stretch, single-leg stretch, single straight-leg stretch, double straight-leg stretch and criss-cross—so take your pick. Here's how to do the criss-cross:
- Lie flat on your back with your knees bent and forming a tabletop position.
- Place your hands lightly behind your head.
- Lift your head, neck and shoulders, activating your core.
- Extend one of your legs out straight to a 45-degree angle.
- Rotate your torso, bringing your opposite elbow to meet the bent knee.
- Switch sides, extending the other leg and rotating your torso toward the opposite knee.
“Most people over 50 lose lateral stability. This shapes the hips and glutes, which are your biggest metabolic engines,” Logan explains.
- Begin by lying on one side with your body, forming a straight line from head to feet.
- Rest your head on your bottom hand.
- Position your top hand in front of you for balance.
- Bring both legs slightly in front of your hips to form a 30 to 45-degree angle.
- Brace your core as you lift the top leg to hip level.
- Use control as you slowly kick that leg forward.
- Then, sweep the leg back behind you.
- Repeat on the other side after completing all prescribed reps.

4. Swan“We spend too much time hunched. To look and feel leaner, we have to open the front body. It strengthens the back and improves the ‘long’ look everyone wants,” Logan notes.
- Start by lying face down on a mat with your legs extended behind you, hip-distance apart.
- Place your hands below your shoulders with your elbows bent and close to the sides of your body.
- Press the tops of your feet into the floor to gently activate your buttocks.
- Bring your shoulders down and back, maintaining a long neck like a swan.
- Inhale as you begin to lift your chest.
- During the lift, gently press your hands into the mat.
- Take a deep breath out as you slowly lower back to the ground.

5. The Seal“It looks fun, but it’s all about control and massage. It’s the perfect way to find your center and finish with a bit of joy,” Logan says.
- Begin seated on a mat with your knees bent and feet lifted off the ground, finding your balance right behind your sitbones.
- Open your knees just a bit and bring your arms inside your legs.
- Hold onto the outsides of your feet or ankles.
- Maintain a tall chest and braced core as you hold this rounded position.
- Take a deep breath in and roll back onto your shoulders.
- Exhale as you roll forward to return to the start position.
These exercises work together by challenging the core while the rest of your body offers resistance. By dedicating just 15 to 20 minutes a day to this flow, you’re reaping all the mind-body benefits Pilates has to offer.

Carnival’s Brand Ambassador Roasts the ‘Very Sad’ Trend of Working From Sea
The "Zoom background" has officially reached its final, slightly tragic evolution. While many of us have spent the last few years trying to convince our bosses that we aren't working from a beach chair, a growing number of travelers are actually doing it—and Carnival Cruise Line Brand Ambassador John Heald has some hilariously blunt thoughts on the matter.
In a recent Facebook Live "3-Minute" video, Heald addressed a note from a cruiser named Jordan who lamented the lack of professional office space on board. "I cruise a lot, John, and I spend my time working," Jordan wrote, adding that "the new working from home is working from the ship."
The "Soulless Empty Space"In his signature dry style, Heald didn't just sympathize; he gave us a reality check on what "work-life balance" looks like in 2026. "You’re absolutely right—there are more and more people who are working on the ships now," Heald admitted. "I see it every time I go on board. I see people hunched over the laptop, me included. It's just the way of the world."
While Heald promised to "speak to the beards" (Carnival’s upper management) about adding dedicated business centers, he couldn't help but roast the idea of a corporate cubicle in the middle of a vacation. He suggested that if the demand is there, perhaps the cruise line should provide "a dedicated area where you can have a printer, peace and quiet, and a soulless empty space where you can work." He then added with a wink, "We'll put a box of tissues there so you can cry. Very sad."

The "Steel Drum" HoaxThis debate comes on the heels of a viral hoax involving a remote worker supposedly fired after his employer caught him living on a Carnival ship for 14 months. While the story was a total meme—complete with "steel drum music" accidentally playing in the background of his video calls—it resonated because the "Cruise Office" is no longer a fantasy.
As the viral meme suggested, there’s something inherently funny—and slightly heartbreaking—about trying to maintain a professional "corporate" persona while a steward is making towel animals in the background. Thanks to Starlink, you can run a board meeting from the Lido deck, even if it means trying to look professional while the "Hairy Chest Contest" rages on three feet away.

Is It a Smart Move?Heald’s real lament isn't about the Wi-Fi; it’s about the loss of the real reason you came—an actual vacation. He admitted, "It does make me sad because I wish people could switch off completely from work."
The "Cruise Office" is the ultimate 2026 travel paradox. It’s a game-changer for saving vacation days, but it requires a level of discipline most humans don't possess when a Guy’s Burger Joint is within smelling distance. As Heald implies, the ultimate smart move isn't finding a printer on Deck 9; it’s finally closing the laptop and realizing the only thing you should be "zooming" toward is the nearest sail-away party.

1967 Movie Theme Became a Timeless Classic in Its Own Right — A Haunting Hit From Music Royalty
In 1967, Nancy Sinatra recorded the movie theme song, “You Only Live Twice.” The daughter of legendary Crooner Frank Sinatra followed in the footsteps of Shirley Bassey and Tom Jones to release a memorable James Bond theme. “You Only Live Twice” hit No. 3 on the U.S. Easy Listening Chart and No. 44 on the coveted Billboard Hot 100.
Featuring a lush orchestral intro, the movie song was written and composed by Leslie Bricusse and John Barry and reworked by Lee Hazlewood for the single using session musicians. Decades later, Sintra shared on Facebook, “When Lee heard the version of ‘You Only Live Twice’ I recorded in London with John Barry, he said it was great but not very commercial. So, we went into the studio to re-record it with The Wrecking Crew for the single.”
Nancy Sinatra was terrified to record ‘You Only Live Twice’Sinatra was just 26 years old when she recorded “You Only Live Twice.” On the heels of her signature hit “These Boots Are Made for Walkin,’” the young singer was terrified to be involved in the high-profile project at the height of 007 fandom. The recording session required nearly 25 takes before there was enough material for the song, according to Songfacts.
"I was panic-stricken from the very beginning of the whole procedure. I would rather have root canal surgery than go through that again,” Sinatra once said, per MI6.
In an interview with Best Classic Bands, Sinatra explained that she felt the title song was out of her league as a young singer. “I felt it was a huge stretch for me, and I suggested they call Shirley Bassey, who had sung ’Goldfinger,’” she shared. “They wanted me to do it. So, I went to London. We did the initial session with Leslie Bricusse in the booth and John Barry conducting the huge, pretty much symphonic orchestra. …And John wisely said to me after seeing me struggling, ‘Would you like me to record the track, and we’ll do your vocals later?’ And I said, ‘Oh yes, please.’ And that is what we did.“
“Later I found out what they did was they edited different parts of the recording, the overdub sessions, so they could actually have a complete take, because vocally I was just all over the place,” she added. “I was right about not being the right person to sing that thing. But I’m not complaining. It did very well.”

Rave reviewsSinatra’s song is often ranked among the best of all of the Bond movie themes.
Rolling Stone called the 1967 Bond theme “John Barry's finest moment,” while Esquire noted, “Those moody strings that open this tune are a perfect fit for Nancy Sinatra's brooding voice.”
GQ described the violin and horn-heavy opener as “unquestionably iconic,” noting that it surpassed the movie to become “a timeless musical cue.”
“You Only Live Twice” became such a timeless theme that legendary musician Robbie Williams sampled the song for his solo single “Millennium” in 1998. Sinatra’s song was also prominently featured in the Mad Men season 5 finale, “The Phantom,” in 2012.

'80s Timeless Classic Officially Ended Its 8-Year TV Run 34 Years Ago Today
More than three decades ago, one of television’s most influential sitcoms signed off for the last time. When The Cosby Show aired its series finale on April 30, 1992, it closed the chapter on a cultural phenomenon that had dominated prime time for nearly a decade.
The NBC hit, led by comedian Bill Cosby as beloved obstetrician Dr. Cliff Huxtable, first premiered in 1984 and quickly became one of the most-watched shows in America. By the time its final episode aired, the series had spent years at or near the top of the ratings and helped redefine what a successful sitcom could look like.
The Huxtables Changed TV ForeverAt the center of the show was the Huxtable family—smart, loving, funny, and unmistakably relatable. Cliff and his wife, lawyer Clair Huxtable (played by Phylicia Rashad), raised their five children in a lively Brooklyn brownstone filled with humor, life lessons, and plenty of memorable moments.
The Huxtable kids were played by a cast that would become instantly recognizable to viewers: Malcolm-Jamal Warner as Theo, Tempestt Bledsoe as Vanessa, Lisa Bonet as Denise, and Keshia Knight Pulliam as Rudy. Later seasons also introduced audiences to young star Raven-Symoné as Olivia.
The show’s warmth and humor were paired with stories about school, relationships, and growing up—topics that resonated with families across the country.

It was a cornerstone of NBC’s legendary Thursday-night lineup and played a major role in turning the network into the ratings leader during the 1980s. Beyond its ratings dominance, the show also earned widespread critical acclaim, collecting multiple Emmy Awards and Golden Globe Awards during its run.
Why the Show Became an IconPart of what made The Cosby Show so impactful was its portrayal of an upper-middle-class Black family on television—something rarely seen in prime time when the show debuted. The Huxtables were successful professionals, loving parents, and ambitious students, and the series presented their lives with humor and heart rather than stereotypes.
The show also blended comedy with real-life lessons. Episodes tackled topics like education, peer pressure, and responsibility, often wrapped in Cliff Huxtable’s playful parenting style and memorable one-liners. Its influence rippled through television for years, paving the way for later family sitcoms and helping normalize diverse portrayals of American families.
A Finale That Marked the End of an EraBy the time the finale aired in 1992, the show had completed an impressive eight-season run and produced more than 200 episodes. The final episode focused on Theo graduating from college—bringing the Huxtable family story full circle and celebrating the importance of education, one of the series’ core themes.
Even 34 years later, The Cosby Show remains one of the most discussed sitcoms in TV history. Its cultural impact, memorable characters, and record-setting ratings ensure that the Huxtables’ place in television history will never be erased.
