Wearing a little black dress and a bold pink lip, the blonde beauty is the perfect fusion of natural beauty and rock star style.

Diana Ross Inspired Her Teenage Co-Star to Set Boundaries That Later Saved Her Career
In 1999, ABC aired the made-for-television film, Double Platinum, starring Diana Ross alongside Brandy. The film was a tale of a famous mother who abandoned her infant child and an unsupportive husband for a life on the road, only to return 18 years later in hopes of reconciliation.
The film was Brandy’s third, and a Neilsen’s ratings hit. Brandy, juggling multiple hats at the time, learned a much bigger lesson from the Motown icon that she still carries today.
In her memoir Phases, Brandy writes that production on the film primarily centered around Ross’ schedule. At the time, Ross had wrapped a tour overseas, missed the Thanksgiving holiday stateside, and as a result, only agreed to shoot the film in New York - versus Los Angeles or Canada for sound stages and budget reasons - so that she could travel back home to Connecticut every night to be with her two youngest children. Ross also refused to miss Christmas, insisting the film be completed ahead of the holiday.
The studio, ABC, agreed. Typically, a movie of that stature would take 20 days to complete. They were given a timeline of 17 days, 14 of which included overlapping scenes that featured both of them together.
Brandy was excited to do the film and learned much more than she’d anticipated by observing Ross. The Moesha star was 19 at the time and reveals she was burned out from the grueling schedule of shooting a successful television show while balancing a music career, films, performances, interviews, photoshoots, and everything in between. Her career had taken off and wasn’t slowing down. Afraid of losing momentum, she admits she said “yes” to everything, no matter how tired she was.
“She had boundaries,” Brandy writes. “Firm, clear, nonnegotiable boundaries. She’d toured the world over, crossing oceans and continents. Headlines stages from Vegas to Tokyo, commanding audiences of thousands with a flick of her wrist. And still, she chose home. She carved out space to be a mother. When we finished Double Platinum, she would be going back to her home to celebrate the holidays with her family. It was the first time I’d seen a woman at that level of power and fame have a firm boundary around work. And she did it without guilt or apology.”
2008 Animated Film Was Just Crowned the 'Greatest Sci-Fi Adventure Movie of the Last 25 Years'
There are countless subgenres within the science fiction film genre, ranging from dystopian to romance. One of the most popular subgenres is the sci-fi adventure, wherein the main characters are given a nearly impossible task in a futuristic landscape.
The publication Collider recently spotlighted a few acclaimed sci-fi adventures, with a ranking of "10 greatest sci-fi adventure movies of the last 25 years." The list, published on July 7, included thrilling science fiction films released after 2001 like 2009's Star Trek,Project Hail Mary from 2026,Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi released in 2017, and Everything Everywhere All at Once from 2022. According to the publication, the 2008 Pixar-Disney film WALL-E is the very best sci-fi adventure has to offer since 2001.
The movie, which secured the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature in 2009, has a score of 95 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
The Director of 'WALL-E' Andrew Stanton Shared Why He Wanted to Make an Animated Science Fiction FilmIn a 2008 interview with Tribute.ca, the director of WALL-E, Andrew Stanton, who also co-wrote the script with Jim Reardon, shared that he had been a long-time fan of the science fiction genre. He explained that he wanted to make a film reminiscent of the great sci-fi films of the 1960s and 1970s.
"Sci-fi hasn't been done much in animation. And so, I really felt it was ripe to sort of find something fresh. And my favorite movies because, I'm showing my age, were all through the late '60s to the '70s," said the Finding Nemo director during the 2008 interview. "I just loved [2001: A Space Odyssey] and Close Encounters and Alien and Blade Runner. And I loved these worlds that just felt like they were just so complete, so figured out, and I'd get so engrossed in them. And I wanted WALL-E to feel like it was a movie that was almost found in a can from that same era."
While speaking to Tribute.ca, Stanton also noted he was able to give the film about robots and a destroyed Earth emotional depth through the connection WALL-E has with EVE.
"A love story, that's all about emotion. It's all about relationships and change and stuff," said Stanton.

Two contestants got the FJ question correct, but it wasn’t enough to beat Groen’s massive lead. He finished with an added $600 for a total of $32,000 after answering correctly. A'Latorre wagered $6,005 for a second-place total of $18,805, while Grove wagered nothing and ended in third place with $9,400.
Groen will be back on Thursday for attempt number 6.

Country Star Announces Return After 2026 Touring Break
Justin Moore has shared some exciting news with his fans.
On Tuesday, the country singer shared a video teaser on his official Instagram account of him walking around backstage, getting ready to perform on stage. The last scene showed a quick snapshot of his upcoming tour dates, which will take place throughout July and into mid-November. Opening night is on Thursday evening in Illinois, and the string of concerts will conclude in Arkansas on Nov. 21.
Moore is set to hit multiple states during his Live in Concert Tour, including Wisconsin, Oregon, Utah, Missouri, New Jersey, Maine, Connecticut, South Dakota, North Dakota, Michigan, Kentucky, Arizona and more. Some of the dates in the announcement also list the shows Moore will be opening for Riley Green, who is currently on his Cowboy As It Gets Tour. More dates are expected to be announced soon.
"See y’all on the road soon!" Moore wrote in his caption.

"I've made the decision to take some time to focus on my health. As a result, I'll be stepping away from touring for a short period and will be unable to perform some upcoming shows," the announcement read. "This is the right decision for me and my family, and I appreciate everyone's understanding and support."
Moore was scheduled to perform multiple concerts across the United States throughout the second week of June, with planned stops in Texas, Alabama, New York and New Jersey. In addition, he was set to appear in various music festivals, including the Rock the South Festival.

There's a New 'Ice Cream' Movie About Kids — But It's Unrated and Terrifying
The summer box office continues to heat up, with Moana and The Odyssey soon descending on cinemas.
And come August, an alternative entry will also hit the big screens across the U.S., with a title so innocuous you might think it's safe to bring the whole fam for a viewing.
Ice Cream Man is co-written and directed Eli Roth, to help put things into perspective for those familiar with his work. The brains behind Thanksgiving (2023) and Hostel (2005) has a new movie whose 86-minute duration is so horrific that the MPAA wouldn't even slap a rating on it.
That means Ice Cream Man, hitting theaters nationwide on August 7, is officially "unrated," and Roth's media company The Horror Section released a new clip from the scary flick on Wednesday, July 8 to tease what's to come next month.
"The children are having a meltdown," reads the caption of the YouTube upload, a clever play on the film's title and subject matter. Check it out below.
Here's the movie's synopsis, per The Horror Section: "An idyllic summer town descends into madness when an ice cream man serves kids sweet delights with horrifying results."
Roth, 54, co-stars in Ice Cream Man, in addition to co-writing and directing. For added star power, original music by legendary rapper Snoop Dogg is also featured in the film.
The Horror Section’s upcoming slate also includes Don’t Go In That House, B---h!, with Snoop, 54, on board as a producer as well as writer and performer on the original soundtrack. Oh, and he's set to star in the movie as well.
Roth told Variety earlier this year that he intends “to make the ultimate haunted house movie.” He wants it to be, “something that mixes House, House by the Cemetery, Hausu, andFriday the 13th,” and that the film will be “something so insane people can’t believe it exists.” Find out more here.

My Mom Jayne explores the life and legacy of her mother, actress Jayne Mansfield, who died in a 1967 car accident when Hargitay was just 3 years old. Hargitay was also injured. Mansfield was a mother of five at the time of her death.
In the film, Hargitay examines the impact of her mother’s death and uncovers long-held family secrets, including the true identity of her biological father, singer Nelson Sardelli. Hargitay grew up believing that the man who raised her, actor Mickey Hargitay, was her biological father. Despite discovering the truth in her 20s, she kept it private out of respect for her family.
Throughout the documentary, the Law & Order staple is honest about trying to distance herself from her mother’s sexy image as she built her own acting career, taking on more serious roles. By the end of the film, she develops a deeper understanding, appreciation, and admiration of her mother.
1986 No. 1 Hit Ranked 'Best Song' of the '80s
Some songs have stood the test of time and have gone on to become the most influential tracks in music history, which rings true for one major No. 1 hit that has been voted the best song of a decade. Prince's "Kiss" has been named the best song of the 1980s by Rolling Stone, beating out 199 other '80s classics to take the top spot on the coveted list.
The beloved track, released on Feb. 5, 1986, was the lead single of Prince and the Revolution's eighth studio album, Parade. Prince had originally written the track as an acoustic demo for funk group Mazarati, fronted by his former bassist, Brown Mark. However, Prince opted to take the song back, and it paid off as it soared straight to the top of the charts.
"Kiss" landed the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100, where it stayed for two weeks, and peaked at No. 6 on the UK Singles Chart.
For the song, Prince famously stripped away the bass guitar and replaced it with gated acoustic guitar and a Linn drum machine that lends to its unique, rhythmic feel. According to reports, studio executives hated "Kiss" upon first listen, calling it unfinished due to the lack of bass and the minimalistic feel—but that hasn't stopped its unwavering popularity and accolades.
The famous track has been covered countless times, perhaps most famously byTom Jones. After the singer added it to his Las Vegas residency set, synth-pop band The Art of Noise reached out to the Welsh icon to collaborate with him on an official studio version.
An unlikely pairing, the cover peaked at No. 31 on the Billboard Hot 100 and scored Jones a first-time MTV appearance. He recalled, "When they sent me the finished version I thought, 'If this isn't a hit, I'll bloody well pack it all in.' It was a busting hit."

76-Year-Old Classic Fantasy Novel Was Created Due to World War II Blackouts in London
When you think about The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis, you’ll immediately think of the lamppost.
This beautiful Victorian addition to the fantasy world brought up plenty of questions when the 76-year-old novel was first published. Even today, many have questioned about the origins of the lamppost — which you can find the story for in The Magician’s Nephew — and the meaning behind it.
It turns out that it was due to the blackouts in London during World War II that this lamppost became such an integral part of the story. Lewis needed a beacon of light in the darkness of the scary forest, and the lampposts became that during the London Blitz. All light had to be extinguished as the Germans dropped bombs on London, and there was a romance in the idea of a single light.
One of the stories long told about the inclusion of the lamppost is about when Lewis walked around Malvern, England, with fellow author and friend J.R.R. Tolkien. He looked at a lamppost and said that it would make a great start to a story. It was snowing at the time, providing the backdrop that would become The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
Malvern’s lampposts were all still powered by gas, and they looked like objects out of place considering they were so heavily identified with the murky streets of London — and they still are. Of course, Lewis couldn’t just have a lamppost for the sake of mystery, and he gave it a backstory in The Magician’s Nephew, with the White Witch being the one to bring in a metal bar from a London lamppost to Narnia as Aslan was creating it, and the lamppost literally grew like a tree.
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe also wouldn’t have become what it was without a single picture: a faun carrying a bunch of parcels and an umbrella in a snowy wood. Despite Tolkien hating the first draft of the story — and Lewis subsequently burning it — because of a mixture of mythologies, the Chronicles of Narnia began, and the world hasn’t looked back since.
Niall Horan Reveals the Simple Advice Reba McEntire Gave Him Before His Grand Ole Opry Debut
No matter how many venues you've played or how many fans you've performed in front of, some stages just feel a bit more important. That was definitely true for Niall Horan, who made his debut at the Grand Ole Opry on Tuesday, July 7. Understandably, the former One Direction singer admitted he was feeling quite a few nerves before this big performance.
But Horan isn't the only artist who's felt the pressure of performing at the historic venue. Looking for reassurance before stepping into the famous Opry Circle, he reached out to country superstar and fellow Voice coachReba McEntire for advice. The music icon kept her response brief, offering Horan a simple reminder before he took the stage.

Over the last 15 years, Niall Horan has played for massive crowds all over the world; however, nothing could have prepared him for his recent Grand Ole Opry debut.
After entering the legendary circle, the "Slow Hands" singer was deeply moved by the experience. He openly admitted to the crowd, "I can't believe I'm here. I'm shaking. This is pretty amazing."
Horan went on to discuss how performing at the Opry was something he never envisioned for his career.
"I've been very lucky to do some amazing things in the last 15 years of my career, but little did I know that one day I'd end up here in the circle at the Grand Ole Opry," he shared from the stage. "I'd like to thank the Opry for having me. This is incredible."
The event was even more special given Horan's ties with Nashville. Having previously played at the historic Ryman Auditorium years ago, standing in the official Opry Circle seemed like a dream come true.
"I was lucky enough, maybe eight years ago or so, to play at the Ryman," Horan recalled. "That was insane that night...and then, here I am…on the famous circle from the floor at the Ryman here at the Opry."

As nervous as he was for his first-ever Opry performance, Horan had the gumption to reach out to someone who made her own Opry debut at just 22 years old in 1977: the “Queen of Country” herself, Reba McEntire.
“I texted Miss Reba this afternoon,” Horan confessed to the crowd. “And I said, ‘Reba, what do I do? I’m scared.”
The country legend’s simple response? “Have fun, Niall. Have fun.”
The short reply may not have been exactly the advice Horan anticipated receiving, as he humorously added, “Thank you, Reba, but I’m s--t scared!”
McEntire had reason enough to feel jittery at her own debut, however, considering she was mistakenly left off the guest list that night. Thankfully, a quick call to her agent resolved the issue, and she was able to sing on the same night as her idol, Dolly Parton. So maybe there’s something to be said for going with the flow and having fun after all!

Horan’s nervousness at the Opry was pretty typical, according to fellow country music singer Thomas Rhett, who first sang at the Grand Ole Opry in 2012. After joining Horan on-stage, Rhett recalled a conversation he had with the singer just before the show.
“I looked at Niall in the dressing room and I said, ‘Are you nervous?’ And he said, ‘I'm very nervous.’ And I said, ‘Well, if it makes you feel any better, the first time I played the Grand Ole Opry, I threw up in the trash can in the dressing room.’"
While Rhett described performing at the Opry as “nerve-wracking,” he added that it was always an “exceptional experience” for singers.
After sharing a few laughs, the pair went on to sing "Old Tricks" together.

Despite the stage fright, Horan is no stranger to Nashville. Reflecting on his many visits to the music mecca throughout the years, the star mentioned that part of his very first album was made in the city, as well as most of his newest album, Dinner Party, which released on June 5.
“You guys are the most welcoming people in the world,” he said of Nashville’s residents, fans and artists. “I’ve never felt like an outsider…The most music-loving people in the world live in this city.”
And the Opry was an especially meaningful milestone for Horan for yet another reason: He spent his childhood in Ireland listening to America’s country music artists and feeling inspired by them.
“Traditional Irish music and country music work in tandem and have done for a very long time. And growing up as a young Irish child, this was the first music that I was ever put in front of,” shared the singer. “The cultural relevance it has in this country and around the world is so powerful, so strong.”
Of course, Horan’s own cultural relevance can only grow from here, and we have a feeling he’ll be back at the Opry again very soon—and with McEntire’s helpful advice, maybe with a bit less stress!

When it comes to the fantasy genre, it seems like we can’t escape romance as well. Sometimes, we want a fantasy with a bit of mystery and family drama rather than a love interest, and that’s exactly what Our Wicked Gifts by Kathryn Foxfield offers.
Succession fans who want some supernatural flair will certainly want to give the novel a read. The front cover offers some Clue vibes, but the family dynamics make it clear that there is one person to impress when it comes to skill: Allegra Winter.
Let’s just start with Allegra, who clearly believes that she is the best thing to ever happen to Earth. She is the head of the Winter family and of the company that this family has developed, and she will do anything she can to protect it all. That includes delivering souls to the darkness.
Yes, the Winter family made a deal with the Devil generations ago, and Allegra isn’t afraid to continue the traditions. She does it under the guise of protecting the family and everything they have accomplished, but she acts out of jealousy, fear, and control. After all, with her gift to get people to do what she wants, she’s used to having all of the control.
She becomes a character you love to loathe and despise. Throughout Our Wicked Gifts, you want to see her suffer and perish, although I will admit that the end is a little bit anticlimactic for her.
Meanwhile, we have Cecily, the black sheep of the family. She has always disappointed the family, becoming the one everyone can blame their problems on. Her brother Felix is a momma’s boy and can do no wrong, and her sister Octavia is the spitting image of their mother, Allegra. However, Cecily has something none of them have: a conscience.
We see the story through her eyes, getting to see how she develops as she finds out secrets and puts the mystery puzzle pieces together. As family members start turning up dead, Cecily takes it upon herself to really get to the bottom of it, making it clear that she doesn’t just want a scapegoat but the truth.

With hidden children, forgery, and much more, we follow Cecily as she learns more about the Winters and their dirty secrets than she ever thought possible. On top of that, she has to figure out if this is even a family that she wants to be in, and it’s one of the most realistic journeys ever to go on.
I want to repeat that. Cecily’s journey is realistic. She wants to be accepted by her family, but at the same time, she’s aghast at everything they do. As the black sheep, she has always wanted to have her mom say that she wants and needs her, even that she loves her, but she knows that actions mean more than words, anyway. It’s a difficult feeling to grasp and understand, but Foxfield does a wonderful job of explaining it through Cecily’s eyes.
There is a hint of a potential romance throughout Our Wicked Gifts, but it doesn't overtake the story. Instead, this romance is more of a push for Cecily to uncover the truth about her family. It helps her decide whether blood means everyone else has to be pushed to one side, and it helps her realize that maybe there is someone out there to love her for her in a way that family never has. It has a plotted reason to be there, which I appreciated.
My favorite part? The ending. Cecily has to make the choice, and she makes the only one that she can. The best thing is that she’s not sacrificing something about herself to make that choice. I’m not going to give away the exact details of the decision she makes, but it’s not one of the two choices on offer. It’s something that she figures out along the way, as she finds out just how much bad her family has done.
In the end, there is an element of sacrifice, but not in the way that you would expect. It opens the door for a second novel, and I’m here if Foxfield wants to write it.

Over time, this often leads to rounded shoulders, increased curvature through the upper spine, muscle tension, stiffness, headaches and reduced postural endurance,” Lyndsey Meade, founder of BODY Hot Pilates and certified Pilates instructor, tells Parade. “The body adapts to whatever position it spends the most time in. If we're spending hours each day in a flexed, forward position, the muscles that support upright posture gradually become weaker while others become increasingly tight and overworked.”
The most effective way to address this condition is by disconnecting yourself from work, putting away your devices and regularly moving your body. But alas, since many jobs require constant connection, this may not be the most feasible option. That’s why it’s essential to learn tried-and-true habits to help reduce—and alleviate—tech neck.

Which Muscles Become Tight or Over-Active With Tech Neck?When dealing with tech neck, it’s common to experience tightness and overactivity in the pectorals, upper trapezius, levator scapulae and the tiny muscles at the base of your skull, Meade explains.
“At the same time, the deep neck flexors, lower trapezius, rhomboids, serratus anterior and the muscles that support spinal extension often become weaker and less active,” she points out. “This creates a cycle where the body relies on the wrong muscles for support. The more those muscles compensate, the harder it becomes to maintain good posture throughout the day.”

The Best Pilates Exercise To Address Tech NeckInstructors agree that the best Pilates move to address tech neck is the swimming exercise. And no, this exercise doesn’t require a pool!
While most people consider tech neck a neck issue, it’s really all about upper body posture. That’s where Pilates swimming comes into play. According to Meade, this exercise strengthens the back side of your body, including the muscles that support your neck, shoulders and upper back, while promoting spinal extension.
“Pilates swimming is performed in a prone position (lying on your stomach) and requires you to actively lift your chest, arms and legs off the mat. This directly combats forward head posture by forcing the entire posterior chain to engage. It strengthens the deep extensor muscles of the spine while simultaneously stretching the front of the chest, effectively reversing the slumped, forward-head position,” explains Dr. Femi Betiku, DPT and instructor for Club Pilates.
Here’s How To Do Pilates Swimming- Begin by lying on your stomach with your legs extended behind you and your arms reaching overhead.
- Lift your arms, chest and legs slightly off the mat.
- Keep the back of your neck long.
- Alternate between lifting your opposite arm and leg in a controlled fluttering motion—as if you’re “swimming.”
For most, practicing this exercise three to five times a week as part of a well-rounded Pilates practice can yield real improvements in body awareness, posture and upper-back strength within just a few weeks. Keep in mind that it’s more important to be consistent rather than perform hundreds of reps in one go.
Dr. Betiku also stresses the importance of taking a dual approach—maximizing your daily habits (i.e., carving out “micro-breaks” in your workday to extend your spine) while building mobility and strength through movements like swimming.

What Parts of the Body Does Pilates Swimming Target the Most?When performing Pilates swimming, you typically feel engagement in the upper back and shoulders first, but the movement is really a full posterior-chain exercise. Meade says it fires up the rhomboids, rear shoulders, spinal extensors, middle and lower trapezius, glutes and deep postural stabilizers that promote a strong upright position.
“The neck is involved, but ideally it isn't doing the work. Instead, the neck benefits because the surrounding muscles become stronger and better able to support proper alignment,” she tells Parade. “One of the biggest misconceptions about posture is that you need to constantly ‘pull your shoulders back.’ In reality, good posture comes from building strength and endurance in the muscles that support it naturally. That's exactly what movements like swimming are designed to do.”

How To Tell if You’re Genuinely Improving Head and Neck AlignmentThe goal is to make lasting improvements to your head and neck alignment rather than engaging in a stretch or exercise that provides temporary relief. According to Dr. Betiku, temporary relief looks a little something like this: Your neck may feel a tad looser for an hour or so after exercising, but the tension quickly comes back once you return to your desk.
“True improvement in alignment is characterized by postural endurance. As the deep stabilizing muscles of your neck and upper back get stronger, you will notice that your body naturally rests in a more upright position without you having to consciously ‘force’ your shoulders back. Clinically, you will also notice a sustained reduction in secondary symptoms, such as fewer tension headaches, decreased upper trap tightness at the end of the workday and an easier time taking deep, expansive breaths,” Dr. Betiku explains.
By adding Pilates to your routine, your entire body will reap the strengthening benefits—and your tech neck will thank you.
