Dianna Russini Recalled Another NFL Coach’s Unusual Voicemail in Resurfaced Podcast
Dianna Russini is back in the spotlight after a resurfaced 2025 podcast clip revealed a previously overlooked story involving NFL coach Sean Payton. In August 2025, Russini went on The Bill Simmons Podcast where she mentioned receiving a voicemail from the Denver Broncos' head coach.
"You understand why he does the things he does and how he operates and when he’s in love,” Russini said on the podcast. "He’s in love with this team right now. Even this summer, coach reached out to me a few times checking in. I missed the call, which, how do you miss a head coaching call? But it happens."
Insane: A clip of former Dianna Russini saying that Broncos HC Sean Payton used to send voicemails has resurfaced online...
The Russini files never end 🫣pic.twitter.com/nwhhX6uZo6
"He left me a voicemail. I gotta see if I still have it," she continued. She went on to say that Payton left a short message saying, "I love my Q," likely referring to his "quarterback."
"Who does that?" Russini added. "So when I saw him [and] we caught up, I was like, ‘What’s going on?’ He’s like, ‘Di, I love this team. Wait ‘til you see.'"
Russini is an NFL insider who recently resigned from her job at The Athletic after photos of her with New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel were published by Page Six. The pictures showed Vrabel and Russini—who are both married to other people—holding hands and hugging while at a resort in Arizona. Initially, both played the photos off as a moment between friends, but additional photos have since been released, one even showing the two kissing at a bar in New York City back in 2020.
Russini has not issued any statements after leaving her post at The Athletic. As far as Vrabel goes, he has addressed the media a couple of times since the scandal first broke. He missed day three of the 2026 NFL Draft to be with his family, but he returned to work on Monday, April 27.
2006 Film Ranked the 'Greatest Spy Movie Masterpiece' of the Last 100 Years
Spy movies are one of the most popular film genres, and it's easy to see why. Many movie-goers enjoy the genre's thrilling scenes and stress-inducing storylines. However, some spy movies deserve more acclaim than others.
The publication Collider recently put out a ranking of the "10 greatest spy movie masterpieces," released after 1926. The list, published in March 2026, included hit spy films like 1975's Three Days of the Condor, Notoriousfrom 1946, Goldfinger from 1964, 2007's The Bourne Ultimatum, and Casino Royale, released in 2006.
The 2006 German film, The Lives of Others, was named as the best "spy movie masterpiece of the last 100 years." Collider reported that the movie deserved the ranking's top spot because it expertly examines the inner-conflict of Stasi agent Gerd Wiesler (Ulrich Mühe), as he monitors writer, Georg Dreyman (Sebastian Koch).
Collider noted that the movie, which takes place in the 1980s and 1990s, won the Oscar for Best International Feature Film at the 2007 Academy Awards. The Lives of Others has a score of 89 on Metacritic.
The Director & Writer of 'The Lives of Others' Said He Did Extensive Research for the 2006 FilmIn a behind-the-scenes interview about The Lives of Others, the film's writer and director, Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, said he did extensive research about the East Berlin secret police and those affected by the surveillance before the movie's production. He explained that "the most important thing for [him] was to research through conversations with people who witnessed such events" to ensure the film was accurate.
"People who were imprisoned for several years, who were damaged by the whole system. And from what I was trying to find is what damaged them, in what ways they were damaged. I spoke to various Stasi officers to recognize those capacities they used on the victims. Using the two, you can piece [together] the truth," explained the German filmmaker.
He also said that he went to "the various memorials on this theme."
"I think that those places store memories, that feelings felt in a particular place don't just disappear, they are somehow still in the stones. And I felt quite a lot in those places," said von Donnersmarck.
Starbucks Celebrates 10 Years of a Fan-Favorite Drink With a Free Giveaway
This year marks 10 years of sweet cream at Starbucks, and to celebrate, the coffee giant is giving away one of its newest at-home offers.
The signature creamer has remained a fan-favorite menu item at the international coffeehouse chain, where it's made in-house and used as a customization tool and a key ingredient in recipes like its cold foam and cold brew. It's become so popular over the past decade that the company has added it to its retail line, dubbing the collection Starbucks Sweet Cream Enhancers. And today, it announced it's giving away cartons of its home-use sweet cream for free for a limited time as part of a special, commemorative partnership with Top Chef and Traitors alumKristen Kish.
Its new campaign is a play on "dupe culture," in which the chef and TV personality suggests Starbucks Sweet Cream is a staple that white-labeled products, cheaper alternatives, or copycat recipes can't replace.
Starbucks Celebrates 10 Years of Sweet Cream With Special PromoStarbucks first introduced its Sweet Cream at its cafes in May 2016, and ever since, fans have enjoyed it at the coffeehouse and at home with DIY recipes and, more recently, its Sweet Cream Enhancers line (available in Brown Sugar, Vanilla and White Chocolate Macadamia flavors). The difference between Starbucks' retail creamers and its Enhancers is seemingly subtle, but the Sweet Cream Enhancers are said to offer a silkier texture than the original creamer line.

Starbucks is so confident that once consumers try it, they'll never turn back that it's prepared to give away a limited number of Sweet Cream Enhancers next month. So if you've ever "duped" the original, now's your chance to try the real deal for free.
How to Get Starbucks Sweet Cream Enhancer for FreeThe limited-time offer will be available beginning on May 31, marking 10 years to the day of its initial launch, exclusively through Instacart. Here's how the giveaway will work: online shoppers will need to add a bottle of Starbucks Sweet Cream Enhancers to their cart and the deduction will be made at checkout, as long as supplies last (delivery fees may vary).

1971 Soft Rock Classic, Named No. 1 Hit Song for Five Weeks, Became a Breakup Anthem
Fifty-five years ago, soft rock queen Carole King topped the Billboard Hot 100 with her iconic breakup hit, "It's Too Late."
Released in 1971 as the lead single from her landmark sophomore album, Tapestry, "It's Too Late" was a massive success. Upon its release, it climbed up the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No. 1 for five consecutive weeks and marking it as one of the longest-running No. 1 hits of the '70s. In total, "It's Too Late" spent 17 weeks on the chart, affirming its status as one of the biggest songs of the year.
Aside from its chart domination, "It's Too Late" also achieved significant commercial success. In 1972, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) certified it Gold for selling over one million copies. It total, the track sold over 25 million units worldwide.
Photo of Carole King sitting in window sewing tapestry during the 'Tapestry' album cover session in 1971.The success of "It's Too Late" directly reflected the album's cultural impact. At the 14th annual Grammy Awards ceremony in 1972, King swept the major categories, taking home wins for Album of the Year, Record of the Year (for "It's Too Late"), Song of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female.
"It's Too Late" was produced by Lou Adler via Ode Records and is immediately recognizable for King's signature jazz-influenced soft-rock sound. It is a sophisticated production, blending upbeat piano, smooth jazz orchestration and a relaxed, easy-listening drum rhythm that guides listeners through the piece. The song's ear-catching production helped amplify the track's lyrical genius.
King was known for her vulnerable songwriting, and this chart-topper was no exception. In "It's Too Late," King expertly explored the sense of acceptance that one must reckon with following a breakup. She powerfully wrote through a lens of maturity, taking the pain of a heartbreak and offering listeners a grounded perspective. She notes that even though both parties tried to make the relationship work, they are simply on different paths—and that's okay.
Tapestry and its tracklist have left an impact on the music industry that has persevered for decades. To this day, "It's Too Late" remains a monumental moment in soft rock history. The track's enduring popularity is reflected in its legacy, with Spotify streams totaling over 307 million.
Since her massively influential release, King has been recognized as a two-time Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee. Her critical acclaim and undeniable commercial longevity have solidified her legacy as one of the greatest musicians of all time.

Nestlé's Newest Product Brings Chef-Inspired Flavor Straight to Your Kitchen
Maybe it's just me, but does anyone else feel like chefs are some sort of alchemical magicians who understand how to extract molecular-level flavor out of ingredients in a way that some of us never will? They're like the griots of West Africa, transmuting millennia of stories and culinary tradition into a single dish, sometimes into nothing more than one bite. It's a particular form of artistry that evokes all our senses, enticing us to take in everything on the proverbial porcelain canvas. You get it.
Even if you aren't as mystified by culinary artisans as I am, I think we can all agree that there's something special about being able to create something better than the sum of its parts. It's the reason we're willing to pay so much when we go out to eat, or why we'd rather let someone else do the cooking. The good news is, you don't necessarily have to be an expert-level chef to create dishes that could be served at a restaurant from the comfort of your own kitchen.

Barry Keoghan Addresses Speculation on Breakup with Sabrina Carpenter: 'I'm Asking for People to Stop Assuming'
Barry Keoghan is addressing online rumors that he cheated on Sabrina Carpenter.
Keoghan appeared on the podcast Friends Keep Secrets hosted by Benny Blanco, Lil Dicky (Dave Burd) and Kristin Batalucco on Tuesday, April 18. During the episode, Keoghan opened up about his public breakup with the pop star.
"I came off Instagram and social profiles. I've stopped going to events. I've stopped socializing," he said. "It's because, you know, there was a narrative out there that was never really sort of even spoken on, a narrative that's not true, and I never confirmed or said anything about it. I just disappeared."
Keoghan never mentioned Carpenter directly and Lil Dicky went on to as if the narrative Keoghan was referring to was infidelity to which he confirmed.
Keoghan added that navigating a relationship in the public eye can be "challenging." He then discussed internet rumors surrounding his spilt from Carpenter. Specifically, TikTok influencer Breckie Hill reposting videos alluding to Keoghan cheating on Carpenter with her.
Hill later addressed the rumors saying she "did not get with Barry" and had never met him. She clarified that her reposts alleging that she was homewrecking" Carpenter’s relationship were made "simply because I thought it was so ridiculous."
Keoghan said of Hill's retraction that "no one seemed to latch onto that video."
"I'm not asking for people to become my fan and like me because that's not normal either," he continued. "But I'm asking for people to stop assuming and also stop jumping on this narrative and attacking me and dragging me down in any way you can, involving my parents who are no longer with me... just absolutely disgusting and vile. There's videos on TikTok literally going, 'I hate him.'"
Keoghan had previously spoken about the online harassment he received shortly after his split from Carpenter in a post on X in 2024. In the statement, the actor said he received messages that included, "absolute lies, hatred, disgusting commentary about my appearance, character, how I am as a parent and every other inhumane thing you can imagine."
Keoghan and Carpenter first went public with their relationship in Feb. 2024 and their breakup was confirmed by a source to Entertainment Tonight in Dec. 2024.
2006 Hit Thriller Ranked Among Most 'Respectful' Films About 9/11
This September will mark 25 years since the 9/11 terror attacks on the U.S.
Not too long after the devastating events, a film was released that reimagined what transpired inside one of the downed planes from that day. And now, Tuesday, April 28 marks 20 years since United 93 was released in U.S. theaters.
Directed by Paul Greengrass, the riveting thriller was both a critical and commercial success, ultimately receiving two Academy Award nominations at the 2007 ceremony.
Here's the official synopsis of the often hard-to-watch docudrama, which holds an impressive 90% average critics' rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on more than 200 reviews:
"On Sept. 11, 2001, terrorists seize control of United Airlines Flight 93 and three other planes. As realization of the imminent horror dawns on passengers, crew and loved ones on the ground, the courageous acts by those held hostage in the air count down in actual time."
The late, great film critic Roger Ebertgave the film four out of four stars, writing: "This is a masterful and heartbreaking film, and it does honor to the memory of the victims... The movie is deeply disturbing, and some people may have to leave the theater. But it would have been much more disturbing if Greengrass had made it in a conventional way. He does not exploit, he draws no conclusions, he points no fingers, he avoids 'human interest' and 'personal dramas' and just simply watches."
There have been other narrative movies made about 9/11, but fans and film analysts over the years have called United 93 one of the best and most respectful of the bunch. When the San Diego Union-Tribune reported on it at the time, for instance, its headline read, "United 93 a grueling but respectful study of doomed flight."
More recently, a Redditor posted that the action thriller was "one of the hardest movies I’ve ever watched in recent years." And looking ahead, other media surrounding the fateful day will certainly be revisited as well this coming September.

If you could change the past, would you? It’s a question many people have, and Stephen King opted to tell that story with 11/22/63. It created a somewhat alternate timeline and would later be transformed into a highly praised miniseries.
While King is well-known for his horror stories, there are the odd releases that branch out. This is one of them, and 11/22/63 has been ranked as the best of King’s non-horror pieces of work by Goodreads users.
‘11/22/63’ Offers a Time Travel StoryWhat if you could go back in time and save a life? That’s something Jake Epping has the opportunity to consider. There’s an element of the British TV series Goodnight, Sweetheart at the heart of the story, as time travel is possible through one portal in a local diner’s storeroom, and it only takes people to one particular time period: 1958.
Sure, that’s a few years before JFK was assassinated, but it allows Jake time to set up the stepping stones needed to prevent it. He has the opportunity to befriend the right people and keep a certain Lee Harvey Oswald away from Dallas, Texas, on November 22, 1963.
Of course, there is always the question of the butterfly effect. Is saving a life justified? How much does it change in the future? That’s something Jake learns as he goes on his journey and heads back in his own time. While it’s not quite a horror story, there is an element of horror to it. After all, monsters make sense, but people do terrible things for some of the most darkest of reasons.
Don’t Expect a Sequel of This Stephen King StoryKing was once asked about whether he would develop a sequel to the story. After all, Jake survived, and so did his love interest, Sadie. Of course, not everything worked out the way many people wanted, especially those invested in the romance.
While King has admitted that he loved writing the story of Jake and Sadie, he doesn’t want to revisit them. It may be that he’s taking lessons from his own story. Can it be done just as well the second time, or is it best to leave good stories in the past where they belong?
King isn’t one to chase the profits. He will write what he wants and how he wants, and isn’t that what we respect the most about him as an author?
Brooke Hogan Reveals Why She Did Not Participate in Hulk Hogan Docuseries
Brooke Hogan is sharing why she decided to opt out of appearing in her late father's Netflix documentary series Hulk Hogan: Real American.
The four part docuseries featuring Hulk Hogan's final interview before his death released on Wednesday, April 22. The series also featured interviews from his son Nick Hogan, his ex-wife Linda Hogan, and his widow Sky Daily Hogan.

Brooke shared why she chose not to join her family in the documentary in an interview with Extra on Monday, April 27.
"Why come out of hiding and talk about something that I'm just gonna get raked over the coals for anyway?," she said "It's missing 98 percent of real life, like it was a beautiful showcase piece on my dad's life, but it didn't talk nearly about the underbelly of the beast.”
Brooke also told the outlet that "nothing in the documentary was a surprise" to her and said she "actually watched it kind of scared thinking there would be a surprise for me and there wasn't."
Brooke reflected on the complicated relationship she had with her father, telling Extra, "He did really hurt me, and I never really got a genuine apology or a sorry. The forgiveness just came from my love for him, but even in the documentary, I felt like there wasn't accountability, and I was just like, ‘This is basically your last chance to really be honest.'"
Hulk Hogan died in July 2025 from a heart attack at 71 years old. He spoke out his contentious relationship with his daughter and his use of fentanyl in the documentary. Including an affair he had with Brooke's former friend and assistant.
Brooke said that her father “quit cold turkey for a long time" and that she doesn't think "he had an addictive personality at all towards drugs."
"I think his addiction was validation, particularly from women. I think that it was, you know, the sex part," Brooke continued in her interview with Extra. "I think it was… ‘Am I still young? Am I still strong? Am I still attractive? Am I still good enough?'… That led to a lot of his downfalls and a lot of his scandals.”
Joey Fatone Recalls Wild Fan Scam Involving a Paternity Test During Early NSYNC Fame
Being famous and part of a popular boy band can lead to a few obsessed fans who will try anything to be a part of a pop star's life. NSYNC member Joey Fatone looks back at an encounter where a fan appeared on his doorstep, claiming he was the father of her child.
ID's Boy Band Confidential: Deep Cutstakes a deep dive into the spotlight years of the popular boy band in the mid-90s into early 2000s. Fatone details a wild experience he had during the start of the band's fame when a fan knocked on his parents' door while he was away on tour. He recalls his father opening the door, and the fan saying, "Hi, my name is such and such. That's your son's daughter' My dad's like, ‘I'm sorry?'"
The shock experienced by Fatone's parents is justifiable as the singer remembers getting a call from his mother, who was "hysterical crying." Unsure of what to do in the situation, his mother made him talk to the fan over the phone.
"And she puts her on the phone… she's like ‘Hey, I'm such and such. I don't want any money. We met a while back,' and it was the first performance we ever did as NSYNC, which was around 1996. What this woman told me is that we met, we hung out, we had a great time that night and then I hadn't seen her since," said Fatone.

The moment led the NSYNC member to believe that his career was over, and the shocking possibility that he was a father. When NSYNC was formed, Fatone was roughly 18 years old at the time and in his early 20s during their early breakthrough years. When the tour ended, Fatone was even more surprised to learn that the woman had taken legal action against him with a paternity test.
As Fatone's mother was "losing her mind," the singer received a supposed birth certificate with both his and the woman's name on it. The piece of paper ended up being the smoking gun Fatone needed to prove he wasn't the father.
"The font was in one type and then my name was in a completely different type of font and you can see that it was white out on it," he explained.
"The woman was just making the whole thing up. Basically, she wanted me to get a paternity test, take a photo of all of us walking into it so she would get paid by whoever wanted to list the story. And that was the only reason why.”
Fatone dodged a bullet thanks to having noticed the small detail on the birth certificate. Fatone has been linked to his high school sweetheart, Kelly Baldwin, in an on-and-off relationship after joining NSYNC during the early years. They rekindled their romance in the early 2000s and had their first child in 2001. They married in September 2004 and had another child in 2010.

Taylor Swift Admits She Wrote ‘Love Story’ When She Was Mad at Her Parents
It’s no surprise that when The New York Times recently polled over 250 music insiders and six of the publication’s own critics to compile a list of the 30 Greatest Living American Songwriters, Taylor Swiftwas one of the top picks. She’s won Grammys, she was named Billboard’s Top Artist of the 21st Century in 2025, and she has sold millions of albums. So how does she write her iconic songs? According to Taylor, one of her famous hits started with her parents!
Taylor Swift, she’s just like us. Okay, so maybe not really. After all, how many of us can say that we sold out a multi-country (make that multi-continent) concert tour that drew in over 10 million screaming fans? But when it comes to her creative process, the 36-year-old Grammy winner has one muse that we can all relate to.
Remember those tumultuous teen years when everything felt oh-so Earth-shatteringly important? And of course, your parents just didn't get you. Well, it looks like Taylor also remembers that time of her life—and it served as the catalyst behind the creation of”‘Love Story.”
View this post on InstagramIn The New York Times interview, Swift shares the spark behind her first forays into songwriting, “I started writing songs when I was 12. As soon as my love for singing and picking up an instrument happened, songwriting just spontaneously just started becoming the entire cornerstone of my life.”
She continues, explaining the type of music that really struck a chord with her early on, “A hypothetical structure would be, you know, first verse, you know, little girl learns a lesson that in the chorus her mom teaches her about. And the little girl grows up, and she realizes, Oh my god, my mom was right about this. Now, the second time you hear the hook, that same hook means something a little bit different because she’s, like, grown up in her life.”
And that brings her to”‘Love Story.” The lead single from her 2008 album Fearless, “Love Story,” shot to the top of the charts, and in 2015 the Recording Industry Association of America certified it eight-times platinum.
The song focuses on, as the name suggests, a Romeo-and-Juliet-esque love story in which an angsty teen is forbidden to pursue the romance they desire. At the time of its release, fans speculated that the hit was about a rumored relationship with Joe Jonas. But, as it turns out, that isn’t exactly true.
So what was the real inspiration behind the chart-topper? Swift explains, “I think the first time I felt like, I don’t care if people hate this because I love it so much, was when I wrote the song “Love Story” when I was 17, sitting in my bedroom, mad at my parents, because they wouldn’t let me go on a date. With a guy who was too old, so I shouldn’t have been on a date with him anyway.”
What’s the moral of this “love” story? Swift sprinkles in a pinch of humor, adding, “And this is why you need to discipline your kids. Because they might write songs. That go No. 1.”
Pilates Instructors Say These 3 Moves Are the Fastest Way To See Results in Your Core
Your Pilates instructor has a deep understanding of the core and how it works. In fact, many instructors complete more than 450 hours of training to become certified while studying biomechanics, anatomy and meticulous movement.
This helps ensure your Pilates workout is as effective and safe as possible. During sessions, instructors focus on engaging the deep abdominal muscles, back and pelvic floor—jointly referred to as the “powerhouse”—with precise, controlled movements. The result? Deep muscle engagement that supports mobility, flexibility and functional activities.
Pilates is a stellar low-impact, total-body workout that’s suitable for all fitness levels—plus, it’s incredibly adaptive. This modality blends strength and flexibility training to help alleviate pain, support injury rehab and promote a solid mental well-being.
Moral of the story? You may want to table your standard ab workout and prioritize Pilates instead.
“Traditional ab workouts tend to target the muscles you can see (the rectus abdominis or the ‘six-pack’ muscles) and they usually train them in isolation,” explains Daisy Zhang, certified Pilates instructor and founder of Mind Pilates. “Pilates goes deeper and activates the transverse abdominis, the pelvic floor and the deep stabilizers that traditional workouts miss entirely. Every Pilates movement is paired with intentional breathing, which is actually what switches on those deeper muscles. You're working smarter, and the results show it.”
Pilates works the core as a system, meaning the exercises you do during a session translate more accurately to real-life movement, posture and injury prevention, says Emma Stallworthy, certified Pilates instructor and co-founder of Your Reformer.
It’s time to roll out your mat and get started. We spoke with Pilates instructors to learn some of their go-to moves to see noticeable results in the core while boosting functional strength.

The 3 Best Pilates Exercises for Your CoreInstructors say these three Pilates exercises are the fastest ways to see real results in your core: planks, Hundreds and Dead Bugs.
“What makes these three stand out is that they all demand that you breathe, stabilize and control at the same time,” Zhang tells Parade. “That combination is what actually changes how your core looks and functions. Most ab exercises isolate one muscle, but these three train your entire core system to work together, which is what creates real results.”
According to Jill Drummond, certified Pilates instructor and vice president of Fitness at BODYBAR Pilates, these exercises recruit the transverse abdominis as the spine remains stable and elongated.
“Hundreds are a staple that builds strength, endurance and length, and planks and Dead Bugs follow that same pattern,” she explains. “All three challenge the core to stabilize the spine while the limbs move, which is why they deliver such fast, visible results!”
Now, let’s dive in and learn how to do them correctly.

1. Plank- Start by placing your hands below your shoulders on the mat.
- Press into the pads of your fingers and hug your inner arms in toward your armpits.
- Walk your feet out to hip-width.
- Gently lift through your pelvic floor and draw your waist in.
- Be mindful of lengthening from head to heels as you hold the position with proper Pilates form.

2. The Hundred- Begin sitting tall on a yoga mat.
- Roll back, bringing your chin to your chest and hovering your shoulders above the ground.
- Extend your legs to a 45-degree diagonal, bringing them together and pointing your toes.
- Reach your arms out in front of you.
- Keep your lower belly gently drawn in as you begin to pump your arms.
- Sync your breath in a smooth rhythm as you breathe in for 5 seconds and exhale for 5 seconds.
- Do this 10 times (one inhale and one exhale counts as a full rep).
- Begin by lying flat on your back with your arms extended toward the ceiling and knees lifted to form a tabletop position.
- Press your lower back into the floor and brace your core.
- Lower one arm and the opposite leg toward the ground.
- Return to the start position.
- Repeat on the other side and continue to alternate.
According to Zhang, these exercises engage the transverse abdominis, which serves as a natural “corset,” in addition to the internal and external obliques and the pelvic floor. While it may not be the main focus, your rectus abdominis does some work during these moves as well.
“That matters because the transverse abdominis is the muscle that actually pulls the abdomen inward and flattens the midsection,” Zhang points out. “You can do a hundred crunches a day and never touch it.”
Keep in mind that the deep core engagement required in exercises like planks, Hundreds and Dead Bugs is quite different than if you were to perform standard ab exercises.
“Crunches and sit-ups work by flexing the spine. Usually, people end up relying on momentum and surface muscles to get there,” Zhang tells Parade. “Dead Bugs, Hundreds and planks work in the opposite direction. Your spine stays neutral, and your deep core has to work continuously just to hold everything still. That constant, controlled engagement is what trains the transverse abdominis and pelvic floor in a way that crunches don’t.”

The Importance of Breathwork for Core EngagementFocusing on your breath during every exercise in a Pilates practice is a non-negotiable. According to Stallworthy, it’s the tool that fuels deep core activation.
“When you exhale fully, the transverse abdominis naturally contracts and the pelvic floor lifts,” she explains. “Most people hold their breath during exercise, which inhibits deep core activation entirely. Pilates teaches you to synchronise your breath with your movement so that every effort phase is supported by this natural co-contraction.”
Holding your breath creates outward pressure and can derail the “flat abs” look you’re trying to achieve. That’s why it’s just as important to ace the breathing as it is to master the exercise.
“In Hundreds, breath is built into the exercise. The rhythmic inhale and exhale help fire the deep core and maintain endurance,” Drummond explains. “In [the] plank and Dead Bug, breath prevents bracing or gripping and helps maintain a neutral spine.”
If you’re looking to achieve a strong, toned core, these Pilates moves are an excellent place to start. With dedication and consistency, you’ll be well on your way to securing your desired results.
