What Kind of Mom You Are, Based on Your Birth Month
What does being a mother mean to you, according to the stars? Even before welcoming my daughter almost two years ago, I’ve prickled at the idea that becoming a mom results in losing your identity entirely. I was positive that motherhood would feel like a new evolution in my sense of self. So far, that’s exactly how the experience has been for me — something I attribute in great part to the fact that I have a stellium (that’s three natal chart placements or more) in Leo, the fixed fire sign ruled by the sun, which oversees self-image, identity, and purpose. It goes to show just how much your unique astrology influences your experience as a mom and how you go about raising a child.
No matter what kind of mom you are, becoming a parent is undoubtedly one of the most magical life experiences. After all, you not only get to see how you evolve into your new caregiving role, but you get a front-row seat to watching your little human grow into who they’re meant to be. As an expert astrologer and the author of Raising Baby by the Stars: A New Parent’s Guide to Astrology, I am passionate about empowering moms to not only understand their little one but themselves through the lens of their birth chart. It can also help to consider your birth month when exploring what kind of mom you are — or will be.

January: The Pragmatic, Future-Oriented MomIf you were born during the first month of the year, you were born while the sun was moving through hardworking, grounded Capricorn or eccentric, humanitarian Aquarius. Both signs thrive on thinking about what comes next and how they can craft the next chapter of their dreams. They’re hardworking and often quite innovative. In turn, you’re the kind of mom who is apt to instill a serious work ethic in your child. You’ll think about how something they foster at an early age (like a love of theater or martial arts) will bolster their resume down the road. And depending on the moment, you can get behind tradition or thwarting convention, so you excel at teaching your kiddo when to revel in a family bonding moment and when to strike out on their own.

February: The Artistic, Deeply Empathic MomBorn when the sun was moving through inventive fixed air sign Aquarius or dreamy, rose-colored glasses-wearing mutable water sign Pisces, your imagination is one of your greatest strengths as a mother. You’ll nurture any tendency your child has to daydream or innovate, steering them toward both learning about STEM and getting lost in fantasy novels. They’ll also feel comfortable leaning on you to work through some of their most challenging emotions, because it’s territory you have a wonderful perspective on, and you know how to be a warm shoulder to lean on.
March: The Creative, Go-Getter MomBecause you were born while the sun was moving through mystical, spiritual, mutable water sign Pisces or dynamic, action-oriented cardinal fire sign Aries, you’re in sync with both the ethereal and the concrete aspects of life. Your child likely sees you as both wise and artistic and as someone who knows how to get things done. Whether they lean on you as they think up an out-of-the-box approach to a school project or for motivation before they attempt to learn how to swim or compete in a major school athletic event, they can trust that you’ll be their greatest cheerleader and ally as they take on the world.

April: The Mindful, Down-to-Earth MomBorn when the sun was moving through Aries, the impulsive, playful cardinal fire sign, or Taurus, the grounded, slow-and-steady fixed earth sign, you’re a truly salt of the earth kind of parent. You’ll teach your child that what truly matters is what you can see, touch, hear, taste, and smell — and that you’ll never go wrong by living in the moment and making the most of every single day. At the same time, you’ll apply your innate go-getter mentality and earthy rationality to any goal that your child wants to set. From you, they’ll learn that they have everything they need to go to bat for their dreams — and they can pursue them at whatever pace is best for them.
May: The Social, Fun-Loving MomWhether you were born when the sun was moving through friendly, practical fixed earth sign Taurus or buzzy, people-oriented mutable air sign Gemini, relationships are very much a top priority to you in life. You’ll go out of your way to nurture a social circle with other parents in your neighborhood. In turn, you’ll help your little one have an equally vibrant social life by signing them up for classes, taking them to the library, and encouraging them to try an array of extracurriculars. You’ll also bond with them through fun-filled experiences, like hosting picnics at the park and holidays at your house, and having lots of lively, bubbly conversations.
June: The Upbeat, Sentimental MomBorn when the sun was in either social mutable air sign Gemini or deeply caregiving cardinal water sign Cancer, you’re adaptable, adept at communicating, and emotionally wise. You tend to be a natural-born visionary who loves coming up with sweeping game plans for your child, whether you’re planning a family vacation, their first concert, or a trip to check out their dream college. With your big heart and love of music, art, and culture, you’ll always prioritize teaching your child, ensuring they feel nurtured, and making sweet memories alongside your nearest and dearest.
July: The Joyful, Strong-Willed MomWhether you came into the world when the sun was moving through nurturing cardinal water sign Cancer or powerful, charismatic fixed fire sign Leo, your heart always leads the charge. You’re loving, confident, dynamic, family-oriented, and deeply protective of your child. You might have a tendency to shower them in gifts, as that may be your love language, or to offer warm, sunny compliments galore. Because you tend to be strong-willed, you might not always see eye-to-eye with your little one, but even when that happens, they’ll feel like you only want the best for them and always have their back.

Tom Hanks Is So Cute Grooving in the Crowd During His Handsome Son Chet Hanks’ Concert
Chet Hanks, the handsome son of Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, had a star supporter in the audience at Stagecoach this weekend: His dad.
While Tom is known for iconic films like Apollo 13, Saving Private Ryan, and Philadelphia, Chet, 35, is coming into his own these days. After early roles, guest-starring on Curb Your Enthusiasm and Atlanta, Chet has gone on to recurring roles on series like Empire and Your Honor. But during a performance with his band, Something Out West, at Stagecoach on Saturday, a fan spotted Tom grooving in the crowd like one proud papa.
"Watching Chet Hanks then realizing his dad is next to me," the concert-goer shared on her video, which showed Chet singing onstage, and then panned to Tom, grooving in the crowd in jeans and a cool hat. We love a supportive dad!
View this post on Instagram Does Chet Hanks Star in any Current TV Shows?Yes! Now, he stars alongside Kate Hudson in a recurring role on the Netflix series Running Point. At the season 2 Los Angeles premiere at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood, Hanks looked quite handsome as he worked the red carpet with his castmates.

Did Chet Hanks Get Stuck in Colombia? It seems so, but he’s back home now! Apparently, the actor was recently traveling on his Greek passport and visiting friends in Puerto Rico when he decided to head to Colombia for a few days. However, because he didn’t have his American passport, which was about to expire, he was stuck in Colombia. In a unique Instagram video, Hanks declared, “free me.”
“So I’m literally stuck in Colombia. I’m stuck in Medellin. Granted, there’s worse places to be stuck, but I literally have no f—— idea what I’m going to do. And the only embassy to get this shit settled is in Bogotá. I don’t want to go to Bogotá. So, yeah, free me. You know what I’m saying? Free me,” Hanks told the camera.
Don’t worry, because Hanks managed to make it home to sunny Los Angeles safely!
His Memorable Curb Your Enthusiasm RoleAny fan of Curb Your Enthusiasm will remember the hilarious episode where Sammy, the daughter of Jeff and Susie, has a new boyfriend, Victor. But some may not remember that Chet Hanks plays Victor. Naturally, Larry David makes a fool of himself by refusing to say “Thank you for your service” to Victor, enraging the entire household. It’s definitely worth a rewatch!

The resulting mixture is the ideal treat for all those with an avid sweet tooth, allowing you to tuck into a frothing milkshake and Twizzlers' famous gummy candies in one singular dish.

Shirley MacLaine Steps Out in Rare Outing Ahead of Her 92nd Birthday
Shirley MacLaine was seen enjoying a casual lunch in Malibu on April 18, marking a rare public appearance for the Hollywood icon just days before her 92nd birthday. The outing offers a glimpse of the Oscar-winning actress during a quiet moment away from the spotlight.
In photos published by Page Six, MacLaine appeared to be in good spirits as she left the restaurant after her meal. She was slightly unsteady on her feet and held onto the backs of chairs and someone’s arm as she carefully made her way through the outdoor area of the restaurant.
MacLaine wore a pair of dark slacks, a chocolate brown shirt and a tan cardigan sweater. She accessorized with a pair of round-rimmed sunglasses and a couple of rings.
MacLaine, who is best known for the 1983 film Terms of Endearment, recently told People magazine that she is doing well and that she is "really healthy," despite her advanced age. And, believe it or not, she's still working, though she's become a bit more selective in what she takes on these days.
In 2022, MacLaine appeared in two episodes of Only Murders in the Building starring Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez. Though this is listed as her most recent role on IMDb, she's got a few things in the works for the year ahead, including roles in People Not Places and Margret and Stevie. In October 2026, MacLaine will release The Wall of Life, a book that will provide fans a look back at her life by way of stories and photographs.

Beethoven's 'Für Elise' Is a 216-Year-Old Mystery Involving a Secret and a Lock of Hair
On April 27, 1810, Ludwig van Beethoven finished a piano bagatelle that he never intended for the public to hear. He scribbled a dedication on the top of the page and tucked it away. The world didn't lay eyes on it until 1867. By then, the composer was long dead, and the woman who inspired the most famous melody in history had vanished into the fog of the 19th century.
We call it "Für Elise." But there is a very good chance her name wasn't Elise at all.
The reigning theory is a case of bad penmanship. Ludwig Nohl, the man who discovered the manuscript forty years after Beethoven’s death, claimed the paper was dedicated to a woman named Elise. The problem? The original paper is lost.
Beethoven’s handwriting was notoriously illegible, a jagged scrawl that looked like a bird trapped in an inkwell. Most historians bet that Nohl misread "Therese."
Therese Malfatti was the woman Beethoven wanted to marry in 1810. He was forty; she was nineteen. He bought a new suit. He got a haircut. He proposed. She turned him down for a nobleman. It was a crushing blow for a man already going deaf and losing his grip on social graces.
But there is a second candidate who fits the "Elise" bill. Elisabeth Röckel was an opera singer and a close friend of the composer. Her nickname in certain circles? Elise.
She was moving away from Vienna in 1810, and some scholars argue this haunting, repetitive piano loop was a parting gift. When she died, she had a lock of Beethoven’s hair in her possession and a quill pen he had given her.
And then there is the child prodigy, Elise Barensfeld. She was a thirteen-year-old piano prodigy who lived near Malfatti. Some think Beethoven wrote the piece as a favor to Therese, intended as an easy practice exercise for the young girl.
Why the Mystery ContinuesAnd while modern music means fans know (or can figure out) the inspiration behind every Taylor Swift bridge and trending rap feuds. But "Für Elise" remains a question mark.
It is a short, moody piece of music with the feel of a private conversation we weren't supposed to overhear. Yet the magic of the piece is that it isn't Beethoven’s song anymore; it belongs to whoever you’re thinking about when you hear those first five notes.
Why This Record-Breaking 'Straddle Coaster' Is the Steampunk Adventure Your Summer Needs
Six Flags New England has officially launched its newest thriller, the Quantum Accelerator, and it’s officially time to update your summer travel plans. While this steampunk-themed adventure made its debut to the public on April 17, it is already establishing itself as a standout for both hardcore coaster fans and families looking for their next shared adrenaline rush.
“Quantum Accelerator is an exciting new addition that raises the bar for family thrill rides at Six Flags New England,” park manager Bill Falzone says in a press release. “This coaster is sure to become a favorite among guests of all ages. It's the perfect complement to our world-class lineup and reinforces Six Flags New England as the go-to destination for family fun in 2026."
Related: Six Flags New England Is Opening a One-of-a-Kind Roller Coaster in 2026
Why the Quantum Accelerator Is the Ride to WatchUnlike your standard coaster that slowly climbs a hill, this "straddle" coaster puts you in a motorcycle-style position on a hover-bike, leaning forward into the action. The experience is defined by two high-speed launches—one straight out of the gate and a second mid-course burst that propels you to a top speed of 45 mph.
“This unique feature allows you to lean forward and accelerate into the adventure,” the park says. “Keeping a low physical profile helps you manage the high-speed launches, tight twists and banked curves to achieve the maximum adrenaline rush.”
While it’s billed as family-friendly, don’t let the label fool you. The ride features 11 "airtime" moments (that weightless feeling in your stomach) and a Stengel Dive, a unique maneuver that tilts riders over 90 degrees during a high-speed turn. Early riders have praised the ride's "convoluted layout," noting that the winding track makes it nearly impossible to predict where you're headed next.
Related: The Roller Coasters Amusement Park Superfans Are Most Excited to Ride in 2026
What’s New in the CanyonThe coaster is the centerpiece of a larger revitalization of the park's Crackaxle Canyon area. In addition to the ride, the park has upgraded several amenities to round out the experience:
- JB’s Smokehouse: Located directly across from the ride, this spot has introduced fresh menu items like sirloin steak sandwiches and salads to go along with its signature smoked barbecue.
- Elevated Dining: Across the park, expect a major step up in food quality, with new offerings like deep-fried Brussels sprouts at Chop Six and hand-breaded fish and chips at the renovated Riverboat Café.
- Retail & Refreshments: New gear is available at Screamore Gadgets, while Doc Pemberton's Refresh Station provides a convenient pit stop for those needing a quick drink before heading back into the queue.
With wait times already reaching over two hours during the opening weeks, you’ll want to arrive early to ensure you get your seat on the bike.

NFL WAG Brittany Mahomes Stuns With Figure-Hugging Mini Dress
Brittany Mahomes brought a major fashion moment as the NFL WAG stole the spotlight during the Stagecoach country music festival.
The wife of Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes shared a glimpse of their child-free getaway on Instagram as they took part in the world’s largest annual country music festival, held in California.
While the Gen Z music fans kicked off the festival season earlier this month with Coachella, country fans, including the power couple, stepped into the spotlight at Stagecoach for a more Western-inspired celebration of music and style.
During the event, the 30-year-old switched her Chiefs inspired look as she turned heads with her stunning outfit that perfectly matched the festival’s laid-back charm and country-inspired aesthetic.
Patrick Mahomes #15 of the Kansas City Chiefs wife, Brittany Mahomes, celebrates after defeating the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in overtime during Super Bowl LVIII at Allegiant Stadium on February 11, 2024 in Las Vegas, Nevada.Embracing the sheer fashion trend, Brittany Mahomes put her own spin on the see-through dressing with a brown crochet figure-hugging mini dress, layered over a black two-piece swimsuit.
She styled the look with black knee-length cowboy boots and bold accessories such as multiple bangles and a large heart pendant necklace.
As for her glam, she kept it minimal and went for a peachy makeup look while wearing a tousled hairstyle.
Patrick Mahomes’ outfit, on the other hand, had a mix of casual and Western style. The quarterback opted for a brown checkered button-down top, perfectly matching his wife’s outfit and completed his festival look with light-washed jorts and white sneakers.
View this post on InstagramOf course, it would not be a country festival without completing the outfit with a beige cowboy hat.
“Inhaled lots of dirt, it was great,” she captioned her post.
The comment section was filled with reactions hyping the mom of three’s bold festival look.
“Cowgirl Brittany is the one. Breath-taking gorgeous!!!!” one wrote, praising her stunning festival style.
“Absolutely gorgeous, Queen!” a commenter said.
“You do know how to dress, Britt,” a follower echoed.
“The Ma’am of KC. Get it, girl!” another added.
The same goes for another who commented “KC’s King and Queen slayed with the fits!”
Before the “Country Coachella,” as fans called the Stagecoach festival, Brittany Mahomes posted some of her looks during the event.
In one Instagram post, she looked radiant in a white corset top paired with skimpy peplum shorts and beige cowboy boots, while finishing the look with a dark cowboy hat for a polished cowgirl-chic ensemble.
With her latest appearance, the NFL WAG once again solidified her reputation as one of the most closely watched style icons in the NFL circle.

Nancy Guthrie: ‘The Answer Is in Tucson,’ Says Former FBI Assistant Director
Nancy Guthrie remains missing nearly three months after investigators say she was abducted from her Arizona home in the middle of the night. The whereabouts of the 84-year-old are still unknown as authorities continue vetting tips and working leads.
During a recent episode of his new podcast, The Fairfax Files, Michael Hershman spoke with former FBI Assistant Director John Miller about several high-profile cases, including Guthrie’s disappearance. When Hershman described the case as “unusual” and asked for Miller’s perspective, the former law enforcement official suggested that the person responsible for Guthrie's abduction is likely local to Tucson.
"I think the answer is—and I think that the Guthrie family believes this, too—the answer is right there. The answer is in Tucson," Miller began. "This was probably something hatched locally by someone who thought, 'Here's an individual who is relatively defenseless, lives alone, is vulnerable, unable to put up a lot of resistance. If we came and took her away, who is connected to… someone with resources and money."
Miller went on to say that these factors strongly suggest the person was local, noting that people in the area are familiar with the Guthrie family and aware that Nancy lives alone. He added that in the vast majority of kidnappings, those responsible had some prior connection to the victim, such as a former employee, current employee’s partner, family member, or someone who had worked on the property and had access.
“I don’t think that this case is going to be vastly different, other than someone local who had enough contact around that house to assess what that would be like, and had some idea, some nightmarish dream about, ‘We’re gonna demand a lot of money, and we’re gonna do it through crypto, and we’re never gonna have to go to a ransom drop or pick up a package or show ourselves, we’re gonna take kidnapping into the digital age, and we’re gonna get a big payday,’” Miller added.
As of the time of this writing, authorities have not publicly named a suspect, and the investigation into Nancy's February 1 disappearance remains ongoing.

Beloved Comedian With 'Worst Actor' Nod Turns 61
Kevin James broke into the glitz and glam of entertainment when he became a familiar face in comedy and a core member of what fans call the "Sandler comedy family” for his solid working relationship with Hollywood icon Adam Sandler.
Having turned 61 on April 26, the comedian was once labeled a “Worst Actor” at one point in his career.
In the late 1980s, he began his career as a stand-up comedian, mostly doing his stints in Long Island, where he grew up.
After building a successful reputation as a stand-up comedian known for his relatable physical humor and family-friendly style , he transitioned to television, appearing on shows like The All-New Candid Camera , as well as The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Late Show with David Letterman.
It was the 1998 CBSsitcom The King of Queens where he had his breakthrough in Hollywood after landing the role of an IPS delivery driver named Doug Heffernan , who lived in New York City with his secretary wife Carrie, played by Leah Remini , and his eccentric father Arthur Spooner, portrayed by Jerry Stiller.

James’ exceptional performance on the show earned him major recognition after being nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series at the 58th Primetime Emmy Awards.
With his continued success, he moved into film, which was largely driven by his long-standing friendship with Adam Sandler, whom he first met while filming The King of Queens.
From his first cameo role in the hit rom-com 50 First Dates, the duo worked together in I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry, Pixels, followed by the Grown Ups franchise, along with the tight-knit circle of Happy Madison collaborators like Rob Schneider, David Spade , Chris Rock and more.
Amid his fame and the high-profile names he worked with, James could not escape the fact that critics had not always been as forgiving.
The Golden Raspberry Awards, also known as the Razzies , are a parody award show known for honoring the worst cinematic achievements of the year and have included the Home Team star in multiple nominations.
Many of these were linked to his work with Adam Sandler, beginning in 2008 with a Worst Supporting Actor nomination for I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry.
During the 2014 Razzie Awards, James secured his second nomination, along with the entire cast of Grown Ups 2, for Worst Screen Combo.
However, it was in 2016 when the comedian earned a nod for Worst Actor following his portrayal in Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2.

Beyond that, the film was heavily criticized as "criminally unfunny” and lacking the charm of the original, earning nominations for Worst Picture , Worst Screenplay and Worst Screen Combo featuring James and his Segway.

Hershey's Debuts New Bubble Yum Cotton Candy Milkshake That Fans Are Saying They 'Need in Their Life ASAP'
It's always an exciting day whenever Hershey's reveals a brand-new treat joining its world-renowned lineup of famously sweet snacks.
Such is especially the case when said treat happens to be a fresh and memorably delicious dessert as eye-catching as the brand's new Bubble Yum-inspired Cotton Candy Milkshake at Hershey World.
Available exclusively at all Hershey World properties across the globe, the Bubble Yum Cotton Candy Milkshake features the same rich refreshing taste fans know and love from Hershey's longtime bubble gum company.
Made from a combination of vanilla ice cream blended with milk, cotton candy syrup and beet root powder for its distinct pink coloring, the new treat is sure to remind customers immediately of summer baseball games, high-octane carnivals or any other festive occasion in which cotton candy might be sold.
It's even topped off with a swirl of whipped cream and real cotton candy, giving fans one more reason to purchase this overstuffed dessert while they can.
As most fans of Hershey's properties might know, Hershey World can only be found in a handful of locations throughout the world, including Hershey, PA; Times Square; Las Vegas; Niagara Falls and Singapore.
With that in mind, it's hardly a surprise that most fans shared their utter excitement at the debut of the new dessert, while others voiced their frustration that the product won't be made available in additional locations.
"The cotton candy one needs to be released into the main world," one fan commented on Instagram.
"Bruh I need that Bubble Yum in my life ASAP. And the cotton candy flavor one too," said another user, complete with a peering eye emoji.
Interestingly, Hershey's new Bubble Yum Cotton Candy Milkshake joins four other flavors similarly making their way to all Hershey's World locations. This includes Hershey's Cafe Espresso Nuggets Milkshake, the Cookies n' Creme Milkshake, Twizzlers Pull 'n Peel Milkshake and Reese's Oreo Mikshake.
Melissa McCarthy Spent Six Years Planning the Perfect SVU Surprise for Mariska Hargitay
There is a specific kind of joy that comes from watching someone genuinely surprised by a person they love. On the Law & Order: SVU set on April 23, that joy was delivered in full, complete with a rubber mask and six years of patient planning.
Melissa McCarthy had wanted to appear on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit for years. But rather than simply arriving on set for her guest role, the actress choreographed an elaborate surprise, disguising herself as an elderly woman (gray curly wig, silicone prosthetic mask, the full commitment) and walked through the studio at 6 a.m. without Mariska Hargitay's knowledge. 'Everyone has been sneaking around behind boss lady's back, lovingly,' McCarthy documented in an Instagram video she posted that evening. 'She does not know we're coming.'
View this post on InstagramHargitay, who has been anchoring SVU for 27 seasons as Captain Olivia Benson, had no indication her longtime friend was on set until McCarthy appeared in costume, wig replaced by a character-appropriate 1980s mullet, and walked out to greet her. The reaction required no script. 'Are you f---ing kidding me?' Hargitay said on camera, before pulling McCarthy into a hug. She later posted a behind-the-scenes selfie with the caption: 'SURPRISE!!!! #MELISKA mind blown and still doing the happy dance!'
McCarthy playedJasmyn Jewell, a flirtatious professional fighter who assists Hargitay's character with a murder investigation during an expo. Their scene together included Hargitay placing her friend in handcuffs, a moment McCarthy noted she had been looking forward to for some time. 'I've been thinking about this for years,' she told Hargitay. 'I would not be a good prisoner.' On Instagram after the episode aired, McCarthy wrote that the surprise was 'six years in the making' and paid tribute to her friend directly: 'Mariska, you are the real deal. Sorry everyone lied to you, hope it was worth it'.
The episode, which aired April 23 on NBC, drew immediate fan reaction. Comments flooded both stars' social media, with viewers describing the behind-the-scenes footage as the best clip they'd seen all year. The response reflects something SVU fans already know: after 27 seasons, Hargitay's connection to the show and to the people around her carries genuine feeling. McCarthy joining the franchise for a moment built entirely on friendship rather than career calculation made the guest appearance feel, for once, like something entirely unscripted.
Law & Order: SVU was renewed for Season 28 earlier this month, extending a record as TV's longest-running primetime live-action series. McCarthy, who joins a long list of guest stars including Viola Davis, Patricia Arquette, and Leslie Odom Jr., can now count herself among the SVU alumni — and apparently could not be more pleased about it. 'PS,' she added in her post, 'LOOK MA I FINALLY MADE IT ON LAW & ORDER!!!!!'
This Is the Best New England Food City for a Long Weekend—and It’s Not Portland
Often overshadowed by renowned food hubs like Boston and Portland, Providence is almost always the underdog when it comes to tourism. However, thanks to an influx of industry and a resurgance that has been quietly happening for decades, it's quickly rising to the top when it comes to loud and proud food cities. What adds to the charm is the size. Just under 19 square miles and with fewer than 200,000 full-time residents, Providence is compact enough to explore over a long weekend, but its 25 distinct neighborhoods give the city depth. Each has its own food identity, which means you can eat around the globe without ever leaving town.
According to Kristen Adamo, President & CEO of GoProvidence, the city's small size is actually a major benefit when it comes to food. “A lot of people automatically think ‘Boston’ when they think New England food, but Providence is ‘The Creative Capital’ where chefs come to stretch their creativity. It’s a smaller city, which means less pressure to play it safe and more room to try something new," she says.

View this post on Instagram Why Now?Providence is always evolving, and with that, there's almost always a new restaurant opening or food experience for tourists and locals to indulge in. "Providence has this mix of talent and freedom that gives the food scene its spark. And because we’re home to Johnson & Wales University, one of the top culinary schools in the country, there’s always new talent coming into local kitchens," Adamo says.
One of the newer openings that's getting buzz is Track 15, the food hall in Union Station that opened in March of 2025 and gave downtown a stronger all-day food stop, with multiple local vendors in one place and an easy location between the riverfront and the financial district. Cielito Mexican Kitchen, opened in August 2024 and added the Alcantar family’s Michoacán cooking to downtown, expanding the city's hispanic influence with dishes like enchiladas verdes, ensalada de nopal, and mole de olla. The Downcity Providence Food Tour may not be new, but they're always adding new stops and unique tours that cover at least six eateries in about three hours, which is a quick way to understand the city’s downtown food scene and figure out where you want to return for a full meal later.
“The city is certainly buzzing," Adamo says. "A new generation of chefs, bakers, and bartenders is stepping up, and they’re blending beautifully with the classic spots that locals have loved for generations. Providence has always had its own identity, and perhaps the rest of New England is now trying to keep up, for once,” she laughs.

Where to EatStart the day in the West End at Irregardless, where co-owners James Dean and Joe Hafner built the menu around Dean’s grandmother’s (insanely delicious) biscuit recipe. Adamo highly recommends the fried chicken biscuit with hot honey or the egg-and-cheese with maple-fennel chicken sausage. Downtown, Ellie’s is the local go-to for a cinnamon bun and a fresh-pressed coffee, while Bolt is another great coffee spot for a quick espresso on the go. For pizza, stop at Pizza Marvin in Fox Point, which brings New Haven's extra crispy thin crust to the city. Al Forno isn't new, but is one you can't miss, because chef and owners Johanne Killeen and the late George Germon helped put Providence on the national restaurant map with their one-of-a-kind grilled pizza.
“Providence is a city that really champions individuality and independent restaurants. Family-owned spots thrive here, and chains rarely stick around," Adamo says. "People here want food with a story behind it—a grandma’s recipe, a chef’s childhood dish, a family tradition brought from another country. That’s why the food feels so personal," she says.
Adamo loves how spoilt for choice travelers are when they come here. “It’s really the combination. The restaurants are fantastic, but the city itself makes eating here feel easy and fun. Our size is our strength. Providence is walkable, compact, and full of character. You can go from a James Beard–nominated restaurant to a late-night hot wiener spot without ever needing a car, and each neighborhood has its own distinct flavor. It’s a food city without the stress — just great meals in a place that feels friendly and accessible," she says.
For dinner, Adamo loves Oberlin, which sits on bustling Westminster Street. The brainchild of Benjamin Sukle and Bethany Caliaro, it's one of the city’s most coveted reservations. Dinner has to include their Rhode Island oysters, fresh crudo, and house-made pastas. Next door is Gift Horse, which is regaled as one of downtown's best seafood spots, with chef Sky Haneul Kim’s sesame-milk scallop crudo, smoked and buttery scallop roll, and fried skate wing ssam drawing national attention. It may not be new, but Angelo’s, a Federal Hill institution, is always packed, and has been serving Italian classics for more than 100 years.

Where to Stay & PlayIf the trip is organized around dinner, stay downtown. The Beatrice, on Westminster Street, is one of Adamo's favorites, with 47 rooms in the restored Exchange Bank Building and Bellini Providence on-site, which means a plate of pasta or a drink can happen before you've even unpacked. For something quieter with a more localized vibe, stat at Dye House in Olneyville. This small boutique hotel and event space is sitting in a former mill building, ad is better for travelers who want a little distance from downtown without leaving the city entirely.
You can't visit Providence without spending a few hours at the RISD Museum. Free on Sundays and Thursday evenings, it houses over 100,000 pieces of fine artifacts, sculptures, and art works from Monet, Picasso, Warhol, and so many more. If you're still feeling artsy, head back over to Olneyville, which is home to Providence's old manufactoring plants, which are now home to incredible restaurants, bnbs, and art galleries galore. Adamo loves Dirt Palace, a feminist art collective, as well as The Wurks Art Collective. Olneyville is also home to great shops, like RiffRaff bookstore. If your dates line up, WaterFire adds even more charm to the waterfront with more than 80 bonfires lit on select evenings from May through November, sometimes December.

Michael Jackson’s 'Dirty Diana' Was Princess Diana’s Favorite Song—But It Was Never About Her
Michael Jackson’s “Dirty Diana” sparked headlines for its provocative subject matter, but it also carried an unexpected royal twist thanks to Princess Diana’s surprising admiration for the track.
The risqué 1988 classic found an unlikely admirer in the Princess of Wales. She called it her favorite song of the entertainer's reported Biography.
Jackson and Diana forged a bond over their love of philanthropy and their shared experiences. Both lived under constant media scrutiny throughout the 1980s.
The powerhouse friends first met in July 1988, reported Biography, when the princess and her ex-husband King Charles attended the entertainer's Wembley Stadium Bad Tour. That was the first meeting between Jackson and Diana, who attended the July 1988 show along with her then-husband Prince Charles.

Jackson spoke about meeting Diana and performing in front of the royal couple in an interview with Barbara Walters almost a decade later, in 1997. “I took ['Dirty Diana'] out of the show in honor of Her Royal Highness," he explained. Diana asked the King of Pop, “Are you going to do 'Dirty Diana' she asked him. He responded, "No, I took it out of the show because of you."
Diana encouraged Jackson to keep it in the setlist. She said, ‘No! I want you to do it. Do it. Do the song.’”
Despite years of speculation about the song's meaning, including that it was written for Princess Diana, "Dirty Diana" was, in fact, about a groupie. He wrote the song for the LP Bad, and it was his 5th consecutive No. 1 single said his official Facebook page.

“Dirty Diana” gave Jackson the rare distinction of becoming the only artist to score five consecutive No. 1 singles from the same album. It also stood out in his catalog as one of the few tracks featuring a guitar solo, with Steve Stevens providing the instrumental edge.
Jackson's popularity has surged since the release of the feature film Michael. The renewed attention has introduced his music to a new generation of listeners while also sparking fresh interest in his most iconic hits and stories.
The Hollywood Reporter shared that Michael opened with a whopping $97 million domestically, and a $120.4 million overseas. In total, the film grossed $217.4 million thus in its first three days of release.
Princess Diana died at 36 in August 1997. Michael Jackson died in 2009 at 50.
