Of the dozens of feature films adapted from works by Stephen King, Stand By Me is certainly a fan-favorite.

The 1986 film, which is based on King's 1982 novella titled "The Body," is not only frequently considered to be one of the best film adaptations of any of King's works, but it's also often ranked among the top book-to-film adaptations of all time.

Stand By Me is also included on the Short List's roundup of the 53 best book-to-film adaptations ever, (ranked at #7), and is featured on Rotten Tomatoes' list of the best film adaptations of King's works (#3).

Even King himself has said that Stand By Me is his favorite cinematic take on his writing. In a 2014 Rolling Stone interview, the author praised the film for staying true to the book's emotional significance.

King has also voiced adoration for Reiner and what he did with the film. While paying tribute to the late director in an op-ed for the New York Times in December 2025, King recalled the first time Reiner showed him the film.

"He asked me for notes; I had none," King wrote. "I had just let the whole thing wash over me. I marveled at what a good story the truth could make in the right hands."

A longtime drummer best known for his work with legendary rock band KISS is firmly denying a wave of rumors circulating among fans, calling the claims “totally ridiculous.” 

Eric Singer addressed the issue during a recent public question-and-answer session, making it clear that the stories being spread online have no truth behind them.

Singer, who has been a key part of KISS for decades across multiple periods, spoke openly and confidently about his role in the band’s history and his approach to performing. 

His comments were recorded during a Q&A session at a KISS Fan Expo event in Indianapolis, where he responded directly to questions about his playing style, past band decisions and long-standing fan debates.

Singer addressed rumors suggesting he was instructed to imitate former KISS drummer Peter Criss in both style and stage performance.

He dismissed the idea completely, saying: “That’s completely ridiculous. I’ve never once been told to do that. Never.”

Singer further clarified that his drumming style has always been his own and not a copy of anyone else’s past work in the band. He added that anyone who has watched him perform over the years would notice that his approach is distinct and consistent.

He also emphasized: “So, when people say that, it’s totally ridiculous.”

For Singer, the issue appears to stem from misunderstandings among fans about how KISS evolved over time and how its lineup changed while still maintaining its signature image.

KISS, formed in 1973 in New York City, became one of the most recognizable rock bands in the world thanks to its theatrical performances, face paint personas and high-energy stage shows. Over the decades, the group went through multiple lineup changes while maintaining its identity and global popularity.

Singer joined the band in the early 1990s and became a recurring member across several eras. His first major run began after the passing of original drummer Eric Carr, eventually playing on albums such as Revenge and Carnival of Souls: The Final Sessions before rejoining again in the early 2000s.

He later became part of what is considered KISS’s final long-term lineup, performing alongside Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons and guitarist Tommy Thayer for many years.

During the Q&A, Singer explained that band continuity is not unusual in rock history. He pointed to other well-known groups that have continued performing despite member changes, arguing that what matters most is the quality of the music.

He said that as long as the band respects its legacy and performs well, audiences should still be able to enjoy the experience, even if the lineup is different from the original.

Singer also shared insights into his long career as a touring and studio musician. Beyond KISS, he has performed with major rock acts including Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath, Brian May and Gary Moore, contributing to over 75 albums throughout his career.

He also discussed how KISS eventually entered a busy touring period starting in the late 2000s, continuing strong until the group’s final touring chapter concluded in 2023.

One of the ongoing tensions Singer addressed is fan reaction to newer members wearing the iconic makeup originally associated with earlier KISS members. The band’s characters, such as the Catman persona once linked to Peter Criss, remain a major part of its identity.

Singer acknowledged that some fans struggle with these changes but argued that performance quality matters more than strict lineup history.

He explained that he does not play differently when in makeup versus out of it, adding that audience perception often creates differences that are not actually present on stage.

His remarks suggest that while debates about authenticity continue online, the musicians themselves see continuity in the band’s sound and performance.

Adam Levine is officially returning to coach another season of The Voice.

The singer served as a coach on the series during its first season and continued for 16 seasons. Levine then stepped away from the reality competition show in May 2019 and returned for season 27 in 2025. He was not a coach on season 28 but returned for season 29.

People exclusively revealed on Tuesday, April 14, that Levine would be a coach for the upcoming 30th season. The rest of the coaching panel has yet to be revealed.

Levine had previously spoken to the outlet about returning to the show for season 27 where he said "the stars aligned."

"It was one of those moments where we started talking about it and it felt right... and it hadn't felt right until now," Levine said at the time.

Levine also said in an interview with People in 2025, that when he stepped away from The Voice he had, "plenty of time to not be on the show, and to do my thing, and to not have that define me, for lack of a better way of saying it. It was nice to go and just be with my family, and go tour, and do music, and do what I was originally in my mind intended to do: make music and play music."

The official announcement of Levine's return follows the contestant he coached, Alexia Jayy, winning season 29 on Tuesday, April 14. Levine had coached contestants to victory on season 1, season 5, and season 9 as well.

According to a recent Instagram reel that the star shared, her dream could soon become a reality. After seeing the episode, Randy Fenoli—the famous face of Say Yes to the Dress—personally reached out to her. In his message, he offered to help her find the perfect gown.

"Hello, beautiful Madison… I saw that you wanted help with your wedding and to be able to say 'yes' to the dress," he wrote to her in a direct message on Instagram, which she read aloud in her reel. "I would love to help you in any way I can."

Naturally, Madison was beyond thrilled. A longtime fan of the show, she could not contain her excitement, sharing how big of a Fenoli fan she is—thanks, in large part, to Fenoli's "flamboyant personality" that brings her so much joy. She raved about watching Fenoli and dreaming of having that same experience at Kleinfeld Bridal in New York City. But she says she never believed that this day would come for her.

So, will she officially appear on the show? That part is still up in the air. While nothing has been formally confirmed, the fact that Fenoli himself initiated contact certainly increases the chances. Plus, Kleinfeld publicly commented on Madison's post.

"Madison!" the company wrote. "We would be honored to have you say YES to the dress with our team at Kleinfeld! We will send you a DM to get everything set up!"

What is certain is that Madison and Tyler—who became the first engaged couple in the Netflix series—are actively planning their wedding and embracing this new chapter together. And if her infectious enthusiasm is any indication, Madison would make a perfect fit for the bridal reality show's heartfelt, celebratory tone.

In other words: It’s not official yet, but all signs point to a very real possibility that fans could soon see this Love on the Spectrum bride say yes to the dress on TV very soon.

The “Houdini” songstress, 30, crafted cocktails and paired the drinks with her favorite songs during Vogue’s Toast to Cinema series. In the video, which was released on Tuesday, April 14, Lipa opened up about her love for “Toxic” while making a Basil Smash inspired by the track.

“You’re very silly and giggly and fun, and I need to hear ‘Toxic’ at the end of every single night when I’m feeling like that. It’s one of my favorite songs,” she said. “I think it’s one of the greatest pop songs ever made. It makes me feel nostalgic, but also at the same time, if it came out yesterday, it would be an absolute smash. I love it so much.”

In addition to her admiration for the song itself, Lipa shared her appreciation for the “Toxic” music video.

“The bit that stays in my mind that I remember so well is Britney in a stewardess outfit, and I don’t think anyone has ever been able to make a stewardess outfit look so good,” she raved.

Lipa proved she’s more than just a fan of Spears’ music as she gushed over her fellow pop star.

“I love Britney so much,” she added. “I love everything about her, all her songs. She’s such an icon.”

In January 2004, Spears, now 44, released “Toxic” as the second single from her fourth studio album, In the Zone, which dropped in November 2003. She won the first and only Grammy Award of her career for the song in the Best Dance Recording category in 2005. The track topped the charts in 11 countries and peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Rolling Stone ranks “Toxic” at No. 114 on its list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. The outlet also named it as the best song in Spears’ catalog in 2022.

“The great pop song of this century. The ultimate Britney Spears classic. A taste of a poison paradise,” Rob Sheffield wrote at the time. “‘Toxic’ is all that and more, summing up Britney at her best and brashest.”

Since 2019, Spears has been on an indefinite hiatus from her music career. More recently, she was arrested for DUI on March 5, for which she is scheduled to appear in court on May 4.

“This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable,” Spears’ spokesperson said in a statement after her arrest. “Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law, and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.”

Spears’ rep added that her loved ones intended to “come up with an overdue, needed plan to set her up for success for well-being” and her sons, Preston, 20, and Jayden, 19—whom she shares with ex-husband Kevin Federline—would be “spending more time with” her in the aftermath of her arrest.

Earlier this week, Spears’ rep confirmed on Sunday, April 12, that the singer voluntarily checked herself into a treatment facility.

In a recent Instagram reel, Love on the Spectrum star Shelley Wolfe sat down to answer fan questions—and one response, in particular, struck a chord. When asked about her autism diagnosis, Wolfe revealed that she was only diagnosed six years ago, while on a trip to Japan—a trip that would ultimately reshape how she understood her entire life.

For fans who know her from Love on the Spectrum, the revelation may come as a surprise. On screen, Wolfe is articulate, self-aware, and socially engaged. But that, in many ways, is exactly the point.

Wolfe has been open in her writing on her Medium blog about what it was like growing up undiagnosed in Southampton, England. In one blog post, she describes a childhood marked by confusion, exhaustion, and a persistent sense of being "out of step" with others.

"Schools in my childhood acknowledged autism, but often without the tools or training to create truly inclusive environments," she writes in another blog post. "I remember moments where teachers wanted to help but did not quite know how, and times when peers simply lacked understanding ... Overall awareness was patchy. In everyday life, autism was not openly talked about, and stigma still weighed heavily."

She recalls putting immense effort into "masking," or copying social behaviors to blend in, often rehearsing conversations and forcing herself to meet expectations that didn't necessarily come naturally.

"I put so much energy into masking… forcing myself to blend in," she wrote, explaining how that effort left her drained and still searching for answers.

It wasn't until adulthood (around 28 years old) that she finally received a diagnosis, after years of navigating the world without a framework to understand her experiences. Her Instagram reel adds an even more vivid detail: That pivotal diagnosis came while she was abroad in Japan, underscoring how life-changing realizations don't always happen right away—or when you expect them to happen.

Having lived in three very different places—the UK, where she was born; Japan, where she spent much of her young adulthood; and the US, where she filmed Netflix's Love on the Spectrum—she has seen firsthand how autism awareness varies across borders. And putting it all together has helped shape her own awareness of autism.

"Japan's culture taught me a very different set of lessons about autism awareness," she writes in the second aforementioned blog post. "On one hand, there was incredible structure. Japanese society values systems, order, and routine, and in some ways, this can align well with autistic needs. There were community support groups, disability services, and education policies in place, though often very quietly and formally managed. On the other hand, Japan carries a strong cultural emphasis on harmony and conformity. This meant that autism was rarely spoken about openly."

In Japan, differences, she says, were often minimised so as not to "disturb" the status quo. She sometimes felt that being "openly autistic" was not entirely acceptable, and she already looked different as an English woman.

"These experiences have taught me that while the challenges and stigmas may differ from place to place, the common thread is always the same: Autistic voices matter, and representation can change lives," she says.

After all, Wolfe's story, while deeply personal, is far from unique.

For decades, autism has been understood—and diagnosed—through a lens that largely reflects how it presents in boys. According to Autism Speaks, early researchers in the 1940s studied almost entirely boys and men, and those findings largely dictated diagnostic guidelines. As such, research shows that boys are diagnosed at significantly higher rates.

According to the Centers for Disease and Control (CDC), girls are four times less likely to be diagnosed with autism than boys. When they are diagnosed, they receive those diagnoses, on average, nearly a year later than boys receive theirs, according to the National Autism Data Center.

But that disparity doesn't necessarily mean that autism is rarer in girls. Instead, it often points to a gap in recognition and, as such, representation.

Like Wolfe, many autistic girls and women develop strong masking behaviors, learning early on how to mimic social norms and avoid standing out. While this can help them navigate school and relationships, it also makes their autism harder to detect. As a result, many go undiagnosed until adulthood—if they are diagnosed at all.

Wolfe's experience reflects this pattern almost exactly.

Growing up, she was labeled "shy," "quirky," or overly sensitive—descriptions that often mask underlying neurodivergence in girls. Without a diagnosis, she lacked the language to explain her challenges, leading to years of internal confusion and isolation.

By showing autistic adults as "full, complex individuals," she notes, storytelling has the power to make others feel seen and less alone.

"Filming was not always easy; there were moments of vulnerability, when I opened up about my relationship, my insecurities, and my experiences of growing up without answers," she explains in her initial post. "Yet I knew that showing that reality could make a difference to someone watching... I want to show that growing up undiagnosed does not define your limits. It can be painful and lonely, but with the right recognition and acceptance, it is possible to thrive. My journey, from a Southampton schoolgirl to a Netflix cast member and advertising professional, is proof of that."

For many women watching, Wolfe's story may feel uncomfortably familiar. Late diagnoses can bring both relief and grief. Relief in finally having answers, and grief for the years spent misunderstood. They can also reframe past experiences, helping individuals make sense of social struggles, burnout, or feeling different without knowing why.

In speaking openly—whether on Instagram or in her writing—Wolfe is doing more than sharing her own journey. She's helping dismantle outdated assumptions about what autism "looks like," especially in women.

And perhaps most importantly, she's sending a quiet but powerful message to others still searching for answers: You're not alone, and it's never too late to understand yourself.

"The more of us who share our journeys, the more we move toward a world where no autistic person feels invisible, no matter where they live," she writes.

Nancy and Frank Sinatra's "Somethin' Stupid" hit No. 1 on the charts 59 years ago today!

On April 15, 1967, the most successful and well-known version of the song hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. It would go on to spend four weeks at the top spot and nine weeks atop the easy listening chart, now known as adult contemporary.

To this day, "Somethin' Stupid" is the first and only instance of a father-daughter No. 1 song. It also marked Frank's second gold single—selling more than 500,000 units in the United States—and Nancy's third.

"Somethin' Stupid" was written by C. Carson Parks, and before the father-duo made the song mainstream, it was originally recorded in 1966 by Parks and his wife Gaile Foote.

The Sinatras decided to cover it after Frank played Parks' recording to his daughter’s producer Lee Hazlewood.

“He asked me, ‘Do you like it?’ and I said, 'I love it, and if you don’t sing it with Nancy, I will,'" Hazlewood later recalled of their conversation. "[Frank] said, ‘We’re gonna do it, book a studio.’"

Nancy and Frank's rendition was recorded on February 1, 1967 after Frank had finished his collaboration with composer Antonio Carlos Jobim earlier in the day.

"On the first take, dad got silly, sounding his S’s like Daffy Duck for fun, so we had to do a second take," Nancy wrote in a 2025 Facebook post. "Mo Ostin, who was the president of Reprise [Records], bet Dad two dollars it would bomb. Mo lost his money—'Somethin’ Stupid' went to #1 and sold millions of copies. I framed the bill."

When the song was released in March 1967, Nancy's full name was listed on the label first, with the billing "Nancy Sinatra and Frank Sinatra."

"Somethin' Stupid" was also nominated for the Record Of The Year at the 10th Grammy Awards, ultimately losing to The 5th Dimension's "Up, Up And Away."

Just in time for CMA Fest, SoFi is rolling out a major new national initiative aimed at uplifting the next generation of musicians.

Launching April 15, the company is introducing the "Amplify Your Ambitions" Contest in partnership with the Country Music Association and multi-platinum star Kelsea Ballerini. The nationwide competition will award one grand prize winner $200,000, with two additional artists each receiving $50,000.

The contest will culminate in a live performance event in Nashville during CMA Fest, giving finalists a high-profile stage in one of country music’s biggest moments.

The initiative directly targets one of the biggest hurdles facing musicians today: financial instability. With many artists self-funding their careers—and often taking on debt to do so—SoFi is positioning the program as a blend of music, mentorship, and financial empowerment.

"Kelsea knows firsthand what it takes to build a career in music," the announcement notes, highlighting her role in helping identify artists who show both creative passion and a strong sense of direction.

The contest will feature a live judging moment with a panel that spans both music and finance, including:

• Vivian Tu, SoFi’s Chief of Financial Empowerment
• Shane McAnally

Three finalists will be selected by SoFi, with the final winner determined through a combination of judge input and public voting. The winner will be revealed June 4 following a live performance event in Nashville.

Roberta Flack's "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" hit No. 1 on the charts 54 years ago today!

On April 15, 1972, Flack's soulful version of the folk song reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 almost three years after it was initially released—ultimately spending six weeks in the top position.

Despite being released on Flack's debut album First Take in 1969, the song didn't achieve mainstream success until it was re-released as a single on March 7, 1972.

"The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" became a major international hit for Flack, winning Grammy Awards for Record of the Year and Song of the Year. Billboard also ranked it as the number-one Hot 100 single of the year for 1972.

Before it was a hit, however, the song was written in 1957 by British singer-songwriter Ewan MacColl for Peggy Seeger. Throughout the 1960s, "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" was recorded by several folk-pop singers, including the Kingston Trio, We Five, The Chad Mitchell Trio, Gordon Lightfoot, and Peter, Paul and Mary.

Flack, however, discovered it from a gospel folk-duo called Joe & Eddie. After teaching the song to a high school glee club, Flack began regularly performing it when hired as resident singer for a club in 1968.

When she finally recorded it for First Take, Flack's rendition came out much slower than Seeger's original, running more than twice the song's original two-and-a-half minute length.

“When you express your feelings about the first time you ever see a great love, you don’t rush the story,” Flack told Songwriter Universe in 2020.

Flack's version was also chosen by Clint Eastwood for his 1971 directorial film debut, Play Misty for Me, for a love scene featuring himself and Donna Mills.

"Here the scenario: I'm in my house in Virginia. My mom was living with me at the time. The phone rings and she says 'Roberta, it's Clint Eastwood,'" Flack recalled of her conversation with the actor. "I thought somebody was playing a joke."

"He really surprised me. I didn't faint but I came pretty close because I mean this was a big thing," she continued. "The conversation went like this: 'I'd like to use your song in this movie I'm doing. It's called Play Misty For Me. It's about a disc jockey and it has a lot of music in it. I'd use it in the only part of the movie where there's absolute love.'"

"I said okay. We discussed the money. Of course I was shocked. I gulped and said okay," she added. "He said 'Anything else?' And I said, 'I want to do it over again. It's too slow.' He said, 'No, it's not.'"

The success of "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" launched a career that would include classics like "Killing Me Softly With His Song," "Feel Like Makin' Love" and duets like "Where Is the Love," "The Closer I Get to You," and "Tonight, I Celebrate My Love."

In 1999, the Wachowski Sisters directed an iconic hit film that would go on to redefine science fiction and action genres.

The Matrix has now been ranked among the "100 Best Movies of All Time" by Collider, reinforcing its lasting influence decades after its release.
