Days of Our Lives actress AnnaLynne McCord has dated several high-profile men. She was once in a relationship with Twilight actor Kellan Lutz, and also dated Dominic Purcell from Prison Break. But now, she is officially off the market. She recently revealed that she is engaged to Danny Cipriani, a professional rugby player who proposed over Christmas in 2025.

According to McCord, they first met on the dating app Raya about a decade ago. They were "on and off" for a few years and ultimately split in 2020. They later reconnected in 2024 as friends but became "more than friends" about "48 hours" later.

McCord opened up about the proposal in an April 11 interview with People. “I cried for 10 minutes straight,” she revealed. “At some point, I realized I had to answer. I said, ‘Yes, but I can’t even speak,’ and he replied, ‘That’s okay, it’s actually a good sign that you are quiet for once.’ Then we’re all laughing.”

McCord admitted that she bought Cipriani a promise ring over Thanksgiving in Arizona. She considered proposing to him at one point, but changed her mind after speaking with her siblings, Rachel and Angel. “I told my sisters,” McCord explained. “Both really questioned this choice, and they strongly discouraged it. I decided to tell him that was my plan, but then the look on his face convinced me not to, and he fessed up and told me he had plans to propose to me on our upcoming trip to Cambodia.”

On Christmas Day, Cipriani got down on one knee at her Los Angeles home with her friends and family watching over Zoom. The ring was a 15-carat, emerald-cut diamond with seven round accent diamonds set in the band.

“I come downstairs and there are rose petals everywhere and a rose petal heart," she explained. "Danny, down on one knee with a ring, waiting for me to step into the heart.” She went on to say, "I called this 10 years ago. I knew we were soulmates, I knew we were meant to be together. I was so sure, and I was not wrong."

Cipriani is a former professional rugby player who announced his retirement in 2024. McCord is an actress and model who has appeared on hit shows like 90210 and Nip/Tuck. Recently, she received a Daytime Emmy nomination for her portrayal of Cat Greene on Days of Our Lives.

Jon Bon Jovi’s health condition sparked worries not only among fans but also from a close friend and fellow musician.

In an interview with Hot Metal, Trixter’s Steve Brown shared an unforgettable encounter he had with the Bon Jovi frontman in 2022 during Gwyneth Paltrow’s 50th birthday.

At the time, it was during the music icon’s recovery period after undergoing vocal cord surgery to address vocal cord atrophy, or in layman’s terms, an aging voice.

"The last time we hung out was in 2022, right after he had that really rough tour and he had his first bout of vocal surgery," he told the outlet as cited by Blabbermouth.

“I grabbed him and I pulled him away from Jerry Seinfeld and Steven Spielberg … that's a whole other interview in itself,” Brown said further as he went into detail about the encounter, adding, “I pulled him away and I said, 'I love you, bro, and I want you to know I heard the tour and you've got some serious problems.' I said, 'I had surgery around 10 years ago, I've been through the wringer. I've become … I'm not a doctor, but I know every trick.' He looked at me and he said, 'I really appreciate that, I'll reach out to you if I need ya.'"

However, months after their last face-to-face conversation, the Trixter lead guitarist has not received any response from the Grammy winner despite reaching out through his team.

Brown mentioned how he made a real effort to reach out, not just to offer support but also to extend help.

“And finally I got his cell (phone) and his e-mail and I sent him an e-mail and I called him and texted him and I said, 'Hey, man, I'm here.' I told him I jammed with [BON JOVI keyboardist] Dave Bryan in December, right before I launched ALWAYS JOVI. We played three songs together down in Nashville. I told Dave the same thing, man. Because Dave … we all want Jon to succeed, but you cannot go out there and be bad. There's no hiding it anymore and we saw that last thing that came out, that Tony Robbins special [which was recorded in September 2025 and featured a BON JOVI performance], and I'm not going to slag on anybody but [he 's] got a long way to go,” noting the significant improvement needed before the band’s highly anticipated concert.

Brown was referring to the Bon Jovi: Forever Tour 2026, which will officially kick off on.

July 7 with a multi-night residency at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

After this, the band is set for a European tour covering major cities in the UK and Ireland.

Since this will be Jon Bon Jovi’s first full-scale concert following his 2022 hiatus, Trixter raised concerns that the frontman might not be performance-ready and could risk disappointing fans due to unforeseen challenges during the tour.

As a friend and fellow musician, he also suggested that the iconic vocalist may need better guidance or support, speaking from personal experience with similar struggles.

"And I think we all do because we all know what he's been through and I don't want to see … even my enemies, dude. I don't want to see anyone go through that. And I especially don't want to see fans pay $500 for a ticket and walk out of there and be disappointed. It's like the boxer who's been in the ring too long. But I honestly believe — I think there is hope, and sadly, I don't think that the right people are working with him, and I hope I'm wrong. I swear to God. I hope we're both talking about this, but Jon and everybody who's listening in that camp, I'm here, man."

As anticipation builds following Jon Bon Jovi’s return to the concert stage, all eyes are now on the “Livin’ on a Prayer” hitmaker as fans look forward to seeing him deliver a heart-stopping performance on his comeback.

Overall, cancer death rates in the U.S. are declining, which is amazing news. According to the American Cancer Society, cancer mortality in U.S. adults younger than 50 has decreased 44% since 1990. Rates of breast cancer, lung cancer, brain cancer and leukemia have all gone down.

Unfortunately, the rate of colorectal cancer is on the rise, particularly among younger adults. According to the Cancer Research Institute, one in five people diagnosed with colorectal cancer is under 55 years old. “Colorectal cancer death in people less than age 50 is not only rising, but is now the number one cause of cancer death in this age group,” says Dr. Leybelis Padilla, MD, a gastroenterologist and the founder of Unlocking GI.

Why is this happening? Researchers don’t know exactly, but it’s likely due to more than one reason. Dr. Neil Parikh, MD, a gastroenterologist at Connecticut GI, says that it likely comes down to people living a more sedentary lifestyle, eating more ultra-processed foods and genetics. 

This also means that diet and lifestyle play a role in lowering your risk of colorectal cancer. For example, a study published in the World Journal of Gastroenterology found that eating certain types of fruit regularly was associated with a lower risk of colorectal cancer. Which fruits should you up your intake of, according to the study? Here’s what you need to know.

General Tips for Lowering Your Risk of Colorectal Cancer

While eating more fruit can play a role in lowering your risk of colorectal cancer, it’s certainly not the only action you should take. Dr. James Cox, MD, a gastroenterologist and assistant professor at Texas Christian University Burnett School of Medicine, says that exercising regularly, not using tobacco, minimizing alcohol consumption and having a diet low in ultra-processed foods are all science-backed ways to lower your risk.

What should you eat instead? All three gastroenterologists we talked to advocate for eating a whole food, fiber-rich diet. That means lots of fruits and vegetables, whole grains, plant-based proteins, fish and lean animal proteins. 

Dr. Cox says that it’s also important to follow the colorectal cancer screening guidelines. This is especially important since symptoms for colorectal cancer don’t typically show up until the cancer is already at an advanced stage. It’s advised that everyone 45 and older be screened for colon and colorectal cancer. If one of your family members had colon or colorectal cancer, you should be screened earlier, which you should talk to your doctor about.

5 Fruits for Lowering Your Risk of Colorectal Cancer

Remember, eating fruit regularly is just one part of lowering your risk for colorectal cancer. With that in mind, let’s get into what researchers found about which fruits made the biggest impact when it came to mitigating risk. 

Researchers analyzed 22 different scientific studies, collectively involving more than 1 million people. They highlighted four fruits that were associated with a lower risk of colorectal cancer. Each one is listed below, plus one more fruit that the gastroenterologists we talked to say can also help lower the risk.

1. Watermelon 

According to the analysis, eating watermelon regularly was associated with a 26% lower risk of colorectal cancer—that’s pretty major! “We often credit tomatoes for being healthy because of their lycopene, a powerful red antioxidant that gives them the color they are known for. This same lycopene is also found in watermelon and it may actually be more available to the body to absorb than tomatoes, making watermelon an underrated powerhouse,” Dr. Padilla explains.

In addition to being high in lycopene, Dr. Parikh says that watermelon is high in antioxidants, including vitamin C. Antioxidants, he explains, help combat oxidative stress—a key contributor to cancer. “Watermelon also has a high water content, and hydration has always been beneficial to improve bowel flow and overall gut health,” he adds.

2. Apples

Researchers found that regularly eating apples was associated with a 25% lower risk of colorectal cancer. Dr. Cox says this is likely due to apples’ fiber and flavonoids (plant-based compounds that act as antioxidants and help reduce inflammation). 

Dr. Parikh also says that apples’ fiber likely plays a role, explaining that apples contain soluble fiber, which fuels healthy gut bacteria. 

3. Kiwi 

Eating kiwi regularly was associated with a 13% lower risk of colorectal cancer. “Kiwi is rich in vitamin C, fiber and unique digestive enzymes like actinidin. This allows it to facilitate a diverse and healthy gut microbiome,” Dr. Parikh says.

Kiwi also helps with constipation. One scientific study found that eating two kiwis a day improved constipation in people with irritable bowel syndrome-constipation. Why does this matter? Dr. Cox says that there is a theory that better gut transit time (how quickly food is digested and excreted), the less time that bodily tissue is in contact with stool, which could lower the risk of colon and colorectal cancer. Scientific research backs this up, showing a connection between prolonged gut transit time (constipation) and an increased risk of colorectal cancer. 

4. Citrus fruits

Like kiwi, citrus fruits are also high in vitamin C, so it’s not too surprising that these types of fruits were associated with a 9% lower risk of colorectal cancer. “Citrus fruits like oranges, lemons and grapefruits are high in vitamin C and flavonoids. Flavonoids also have strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which allow for enhanced integrity of the gut lining,” Dr. Parikh says.

5. Berries

While not highlighted in the analysis, Dr. Parikh also recommends eating berries regularly if you want to lower your risk of colorectal cancer. Though they’re small, he says berries are loaded with fiber and polyphenols, which have both been associated with a lower risk of colorectal cancer. 

While all of these fruits may be associated with a lower risk of colorectal cancer, Dr. Cox emphasizes that all fruits and vegetables are beneficial, so his advice is to eat a variety of fruits and vegetables that you like. 

Dr. Padilla says this too. “It's important not to get too stuck in the weeds of figuring out which foods have which antioxidants or individual superpowers because what we know is that when it comes to overall health and most especially microbiome health, dietary diversity matters. The real power comes not from one isolated nutrient, but from the way the many compounds, fibers and other plant components in whole foods work together,” she says.

But if you’re not in the habit of eating any fruit at all, any of the five aforementioned fruits are great options to start with. You’ll be lowering your risk of cancer one bite at a time.

Packing with just a carry-on is one of my specialties. After touring with a Broadway show for a year with just a single suitcase, and having to live in the tiniest cruise ship cabins as a cruise ship performer, I know a thing or two about keeping my belongings to a minimum. When you’re traveling with a carry-on, your airplane outfit is very important. For this Disney trip, I decided to go with a comfortable pair of red striped pants paired with a buttoned up dark blue vest. They are appropriate for the Disney vibe, will be comfortable on the plane, and both pieces can be worn at other times during the trip. I also will be wearing a pair of white sneakers, which will also be the shoes I wear in the parks each day.

Park Outfits

The most important outfits that you will pack for your Disney trip will be your park outfits. For this specific trip, I am only going to Magic Kingdom, Epcot and Animal Kingdom. I decided to wear exercise dresses each day–which are comfortable, sweat wicking dresses that have shorts built into them. Then, to add more of a flare, I added in themed Disney shirts to go overtop the dresses. Each day, I will tie the t-shirts to be tighter around the waist (‘80s style) with a hair-tie, and then the outfit will look cohesive and fun.

Pool Day Outfits

For most people, the days that you’re not at one of the Disney World parks, you’re spending it at the pool at your Disney resort. I’ll be staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, and I expect to do a lot of poolside relaxing. I packed just two bathing suits, since it’s no big deal to rewear one of them. To go over top of my bathing suits for meals or exploring the resort, I brought two sundresses and a pair of shorts. Since my bathing suits are one-pieces, they can act like a shirt when the shorts are on.

Dining Reservation Outfits

One of the best parts of staying on Disney property is taking advantage of all of the dining options that are around the entire Walt Disney World resort. My family has scheduled a few specific reservations, so I know exactly what to expect each day. One of the evenings, we are eating a more upscale meal at a restaurant called Jiko at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. For that dinner, I packed a longer dress that I thought would be perfect for that evening. 

Another night, we are planning on exploring Disney Springs and have reservations at a restaurant over there. I will wear my black sundress (the same one from my pool day looks) out that night, and will simply dress it up with some jewelry to make it more of an evening look. Lastly, we booked brunch at Ohana, which is in the Polynesian Resort, and I will also wear my pool day sundress there. That way, I can head right to the pool when we get back to the Animal Kingdom Lodge for the day! I also packed a layer piece that can go over any of my dresses, adding a bit of warmth while also making my outfits look slightly different.

Shoes

I remember when I was growing up, it was very “uncool” to wear sneakers to Disney World. Luckily, nobody is of that mindset anymore. Now, you’ll see that most Disney guests wear supportive sneakers around the parks. I am planning on wearing my white pair of sneakers, which are perfect for walking thousands of steps in the parks, plus they go with every outfit. In addition, I’ll bring my pair of Croc sandals, which are ideal for the pool days and casual wandering around. Lastly, I’m packing a pair of summery ballet flats, which I’ll reserve for wearing in the evenings when we go out to dinner.

What Else Do You Need?

First and foremost, don’t forget socks and underwear! I always jam them into my smallest compression packing cube and call it a day. You also don’t want to forget pajamas, and if you’re like me, you’ll want Disney themed pajamas. For toiletries, you don’t need to bring your entire shower with you. Disney (if you’re staying on property) provides shampoo, conditioner, bodywash, and lotion in your resort room. So, I only bring a few necessities for toiletries to get me through the week.

The last items that I put in my carry-on itself is usually my bag of makeup, a hair straightener, and a hair brush. With the way I packed for this trip, I actually have a good amount of room left in my suitcase to buy some souvenirs!

My personal item is just as important as my carry-on. Here, I put accessories like Mickey ears, a handheld fan, and my Disney fanny pack (which holds my passport and wallet). I also include any chargers or electronics that I’ll need, medications, snacks, and small hair accessories.

The "Pro" Disney Packing Checklist

Prioritize Power over Everything: In 2026, your phone is your lifeline for everything from Lightning Lane entries to mobile food orders. Pack a high-capacity portable charger (at least 10,000mAh) or a FuelRod. The beauty of the FuelRod is that you can swap it for a fresh one at kiosks throughout the parks and resorts for free, which is a total game-changer when you’re on the move. (Buy them on Amazon before the trip. A single one at a Disney kiosk is about $38, but you can usually get a two-pack on Amazon for around $35.)

Be a Cooling Enthusiast: Florida humidity is no joke. A rechargeable neck fan or a handheld misting fan should be the first thing in your personal item. If you really want to level up, pack a few cooling towels—you just wet them down and drape them over your neck for an instant "ahhh" moment during those 2:00 PM parade waits.

Master the "Dry Bag" Hack: Beyond a poncho, pack a few large Ziploc bags. They take up zero space but are essential for protecting your phone and wallet on Splash Mountain or during those sudden Florida downpours. They also double as a great way to stash a wet swimsuit on your last day.

Don't Forget the "Post-Park" Recovery: Your feet will thank you for packing a small bag of Epsom salts. After a long day of "crushing the parks," a 10-minute foot soak in your resort tub is the ultimate luxury that costs next to nothing.

Hydrate for Free: Don't waste money on $5 bottled water. Bring a collapsible or insulated refillable water bottle. You can get free cups of ice water at any quick-service dining location, making it easy to stay hydrated without the "souvenir" price tag.

How To Style Low-Rise Baggy Jeans

Stylists like Freeman say low-rise baggy jeans are one of spring's most versatile trends. For starters, there are so many ways to dress them up or down, and you can build out a wardrobe that contains a variety of pieces that they pair well with.

"It's essential to invest in unique pieces like elaborately embellished or embroidered tops and accessories such as silk scarves, corsets, iconic jackets, clutches, statement jewelry, gloves and belts," the stylist says. "[You'll also want to invest in] stylish footwear like boots, clogs or mules, as the trend of mixing high and low-value items continues to rise."

One of his favorite approaches is balancing masculine and feminine elements in the same outfit.

"[This is where] garments above the jeans' waistline convey feminine energy, while those below offer a masculine touch," Freeman adds. "To achieve this, first identify the pants' waistline, which serves as a guide to separate the two styles in your outfit."

A successfully balanced look can be created by pairing low-rise baggy jeans with classic styles like Timberland boots (Freeman says he prefers the classic Nubuck ones), and a white fitted tank top made from delicate fabrics like silk, satin or lace.

"Bralettes are also a great option, especially when crafted from delicate materials, and for added flair, consider more rigid fabrics—denim on denim works wonderfully," he continues.

For a trendier, summer-ready look, Freeman also says you can style low-rise baggy jeans with a one-piece swimsuit or a bathing suit top. He says you can even add a pair of Crocs if you're into the look.

He also adds that choosing the right corset or shapewear can breathe life into your experience with baggy jeans. The same goes for your intimates.

"Many women and men make the mistake of not paying attention to their choice of undergarments every day," he warns. "The type of intimates one chooses can completely alter how an undergarment fits and, most importantly, affect overall comfort. In terms of styling, he also says to choose slightly translucent tops, allowing a hint of skin while still being tasteful.

Written by Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler and released on June 27, 1973, the classic ballad became the band’s first major hit, peaking at No. 59 on the Billboard Hot 100 before hitting No. 6 three years later following its re-release. In 2018, the song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, surpassing one billion streams on Spotify. 

According to the Grammys website, Tyler’s song is rooted in the classics, with the flamboyant vocalist sharing in his 2011 autobiography, Does the Noise in My Head Bother You?, "I grew up, under the piano, listening and living in between the notes of Chopin, Bach, Beethoven, Debussy. That's where I got that 'Dream On' chordage."

Of course, that “chordage” had its early doubters — one of whom was Tyler’s band mate, guitarist Joe Perry, who didn’t consider “Dream On” rock and roll enough.

​​”Back in those days you made your mark playing live,” Perry told Classic Rock magazine, per the Grammys site, in 2002. “And to me rock 'n' roll's all about energy and putting on a show. Those were the things that attracted me to rock 'n' roll, but 'Dream On' was a ballad. I didn't really appreciate the musicality of it until later.”

Mikko Von Hertzen, singer and guitarist with Finnish proggers the Von Hertzen, curated the list for Louder. About “Dream On,” he wrote, “This song is nothing short of magical for me. So much longing and beauty. Every time I hear it, it takes me back to a certain point … I had a serious crush on a girl and tried to woo her with this song. But she was into one of my pals. I still connect this song with the emptiness and hurt I felt.”

His list also includes Free’s "Wishing Well," Pink Floyd’s "Time," Led Zeppelin’s "The Rain Song," and Queen’s "Liar" — proving that 1973 didn't just rock, it ruled.

There’s absolutely no shortage of great hotels in New York City, but for the FIFA World Cup, where you stay is less about luxury level and more about how efficiently you can get to MetLife Stadium.

I’ve lived in NYC and the Northern New Jersey area the better part of my entire life, and have done staycations or visited each of these hotels over the years, I’ve become an expert on all the local options. I also know exactly how game-day traffic and transit can be here. The difference between a smooth experience and a stressful one usually comes down to one thing: proximity to Penn Station, Port Authority Bus Terminal or the Lincoln Tunnel.

Hotels within walking distance of these hubs make all the difference. From Penn Station, you can take NJ Transit directly toward the stadium. From Port Authority, buses run straight across. Miss that positioning, and suddenly you’re navigating multiple transfers or a gridlocked Uber before the match even starts.

Located about a 7–10 minute walk from Penn Station—where many of the trains will begin their journey from the city to MetLife Stadium—Moxy NYC Times Square hits that sweet spot between convenience and high-octane energy. You can realistically wake up, grab coffee, and be at the train before most people have figured out their route.

The hotel itself leans playful and social. Rooms are compact but smart, with under-bed storage and clean design that works for a quick reset between outings. Where it really shines is in its shared spaces. The rooftop bar is one of the more fun in Midtown, and the lobby always has a low-key buzz.

This is where I’d stay if I wanted to keep things efficient but still feel like I have access to everything and anything that New York has to offer at my fingertips. Civilian is one of the more interesting hotels to open in Midtown in years, and it happens to be incredibly well positioned for World Cup logistics.

You’re about a 10-minute walk to Port Authority, which means direct bus access to MetLife Stadium. That alone makes it a smart choice, but what sets it apart is the smart and neighborhood-centric design.

The entire hotel is inspired by Broadway and theater culture, and it shows up in ways that feel intentional. Think layered textures, moody lighting, and curated backstage-style details throughout the property—it’s immersive without being over the top.

Rooms are compact, but everything is controlled digitally, from lighting to blinds to temperature, which makes it feel more modern than some other aging Midtown options.

The real draw is the fun, often loud decor and vibe. The lobby feels more like a creative workspace than a hotel, and it’s a great place to regroup, grab a drink, or plan activities in between the games.

If you want to turn your World Cup trip into a full-on experience, Equinox Hotel is worth the splurge. Located on the west side near Hudson Yards, you’re still within striking distance of Penn Station while staying somewhere that feels like a destination in itself. The hotel is built around wellness, with an incredible fitness club, spa, and one of the more impressive pools in the city, not to mention access to rooftop barrel saunas and hot-cold plunges.

Rooms are designed for recovery, with blackout systems, soundproofing, and beds that are genuinely hard to leave. You’re also positioned just across the street from NYC’s newest luxury shopping mall destination, The Shops & Restaurants at Hudson Yards.

Best Boutique Escape in New Jersey: The George

If you’re open to staying outside the city and want something that feels genuinely different, The George is one of the most interesting hotel experiences in the area.

Located in Montclair, New Jersey, an adorable commuter town known as “The Brooklyn of New Jersey” it’s about a 20-minute car ride from MetLife Stadium (without any traffic), however, this is anything but your typical suburban hotel. The 32-room boutique property is owned and designed by Bobbi Brown, and you can feel that level of attention to detail the moment you walk in.

The hotel is set in a restored historic home, but the interiors feel layered and lived-in rather than overly precious. Every room is different, filled with a mix of textures, books, and objects that give the impression they’ve been carefully collected over time, not ordered in bulk.

There’s also a strong sense of place in Montclair, which has a creative, slightly under-the-radar energy, with great restaurants, coffee shops, and local boutiques, so your trip doesn’t just revolve around the match. It’s the perfect “match” though if you’d prefer a manageable sized town over staying in the big city.

Eve Plumb revealed she did not know that her Brady Bunch co-star, Robert Reed, was gay when she worked with him more than 50 years ago, and didn't find out until after his death.

In an April 2026 interview with Page Six, Plumb, who played middle child Jan Brady on the classic ABCsitcom from 1969 to 1974, said her TV dad’s sexuality was “never an issue" and “never was apparent" to her, “even as an adult.”

Reed’s personal life became public following his death in 1992 at age 59. Colon lymphoma with human immunodeficiency virus infection was listed as "significant conditions contributing to death," according to his death certificate, per The Tampa Bay Times.

The media went crazy with reports that the beloved Brady Bunch dad was HIV positive, leading to gossip about his private life. At the time, Dr. H. Rex Greene, the doctor who signed Reed’s death certificate, told the Times, "I think it's despicable that he's being dragged through the media."

In the new interview, Plumb said she was saddened by how Reed’s death was handled in the media. “What was sad was the way it was splashed all over the papers and made to be so lurid,” she said. “He was part of a group of people who had to hide [their sexuality] and continued to hide who they were and be vilified for having a disease that was none of their doing. To be blamed for that was ridiculous.”

While Plumb was unaware of Reed’s sexuality, her co-star Barry Williams once shared that it was more of an open secret.

In 2023, Williams told Metro Weekly that Reed was forced to live a deeply closeted existence due to the times. “That was very difficult and unfair,” he said.

“You’re talking about a time period where there was a different…social consciousness and acceptability," Williams added. "Robert did not talk about it. He just didn’t. He was very private. Florence Henderson had compassion for Reed

Reed’s TV wife also once talked about his hidden life. The actor, who had previously been married to Marilyn Rosenberger and had a daughter, was “forced to live this double life” while playing the perfect father on TV, Brady Bunch star Florence Henderson told ABC News in 2000.

“I had a lot of compassion for him because I knew how he was suffering,” Henderson said. “I don’t think The Brady Bunch could have existed at that time with the public knowing that Robert Reed was gay. I just don’t think they would have bought it.”

It's a sign of the times, Harry Styles sings on his 2017 power ballad, which is seeing a surge on streaming almost a decade later.

Fans can pinpoint the boost to a hit blockbuster currently in theaters.

Project Hail Mary, starring Ryan Gosling, delivered the second-highest openings of the decade, and now, it's shooting the former One Direction member's hit back into orbit.

Billboard reports that Styles' debut single, "Sign of the Times" is one of several tracks that's seeing huge surges in streaming thanks to the film's soundtrack.

The report notes that the power ballad has nearly doubled its weekly streams after being included in a "standout scene in the film."

The song has risen from 2.8 million U.S. streams to 5.2 million across a two-week span, even outperforming some more current tracks.

The song is featured in a karaoke scene on Earth, which serves as a “calm-before-the-storm” moment, as character Eva Stratt (played by Sandra Hüller) sings it in a pre-mission setting.

According to Rolling Stone, it was Gosling’s idea for a karaoke scene after hearing her angelic voice, with director ChristopherMiller noting, “the lyrics were so poignant for the moment,” matching the film’s themes of global crisis, sacrifice and uncertainty of what’s to come in the future.

As for the song choice, it was all Hüller, as Gosling told Entertainment Weekly that “she picked this Harry Styles song. She came in, she smashed it, and it was a perfect song choice as well because it ends up becoming part of the trailers and the whole spirit of the movie." 

"Sign of the Times" was a massive global hit for Styles in 2017, marking the highest-charting solo debut at the time.

While it did not go to number 1 on the U.S. charts, debuting at number 4, it did notch a #1 on the UK Singles Chart.

Criticshailed it as a “bold” and “unexpected” debut single for the former boy bander. The six-minute track was a career-defining moment that established him as a serious artist, marking his evolution as a songwriter and entertainer.

His sound even drew comparisons to ‘70s artists such as David Bowie and Queen.

To this day, it remains one of the defining pop-rock crossover songs of the late 2010s, with Rolling Stones including it in the list of 100 Greatest Songs of the Century so far.

Few fans realize that one of Garth Brooks’ most popular 1992 hits draws inspiration from one of the most influential singers and songwriters of the 1970s.

James Taylor was an overwhelming influence when Brooks wrote "The River." Songfacts shared Brooks' co-writer Victoria Shaw's commentary on crafting the now-iconic tune.

"I met Garth at the Opryland Hotel during Country Radio Seminar. His album hadn't come out yet, but his managers introduced me, and we just became friends," Shaw revealed.

She claims that she and Brooks were experiencing difficulties writing, and at one point, they put some music on the stereo. "We were blank, so blank. And so finally, he said, 'You know what? Let's just take a break. What are you listening to on the stereo?' And I had just bought this new James Taylor CD, so I put it on and we were just listening to it, and it got us in a mood."

Shaw continued, "You can listen to music and it takes you somewhere else in your head. It just frees up your brain."

"So we were listening to this, and all of a sudden, in the middle of (a song), he goes, 'turn it off. I've got something.' He literally picked up a guitar and just went, 'You know a dream is like a river...' He had probably the first few lines. They just came out, and it was like, 'Oh, OK, that's where we're going.'"

In an interview with American Songwriter, the musician revealed that Taylor's music was a positive influence in his young life. “My older brother Mike brought a James Taylor record into our house, and our house finally agreed on one music. I owe James my life because, you know, our house was not an easy house to grow up in. If you argued, you ended up in the backyard."

Brooks continued, "But if you came home and heard James Taylor on the stereo, it was going to be a good, peaceful, wonderful night. I’ve tried to explain that to James, how much I appreciate it. But he’ll never know the godsend he was to our family.”

“The River” was released in April 1992 as the fifth and final single from Garth Brooks’ third studio album, Ropin’ the Wind. The song became his ninth number one hit on the Billboard country charts. According to his official website, the LP was Brooks’ second album to sell more than 10 million copies after 1990sNo Fences.

In 1960, a chart-topping Elvis Presley song did more than dominate the airwaves—it unexpectedly turned the life of one young man around, setting him on the path to becoming a soul legend.

The King of Rock and Roll released "It's Now or Never." The song was a career-defining hit, released shortly after his tour of service for the United States Army concluded.

The song was written by Wally Gold and Aaron Schroeder, who based their version on a melody similar to the Italian classic, Eduardo di Capua's "O Sole Mio." According to American Songwriter, Presley heard "There’s No Tomorrow” by Tony Martin while stationed in Germany, and wanted a song with a similar musical style.

Gold and Schroeder came up with "It's Now or Never." The song would become a worldwide smash, per the Elvis History Blog, and reach the pinnacle of Billboard's charts in August 1960.

The song did more than become a worldwide hit; it changed the life of a future soul superstar who was spending time in a juvenile detention center for his crimes. American Songwriter reported that, as a young man, Barry White spent four months in jail after stealing $30,000 worth of Cadillac tires.

White was midway through his sentence when he heard the Presley hit coming from another cellmate's block. He recounted the moment in his book Love Unlimited.

The future soul superstar explained, “I’d heard [the song] before, I don’t know, twenty-five, thirty times. But it never hit me like it did that night. It was, of all people, Elvis Presley!"

"The song? ‘It’s Now Or Never’. It became my personal message, meant only for me. ‘Stop wasting your time, Barry,’ it said. ‘When you get out, you better change your ways. It’s now or never.’ I sat up in my cell bed, and right then, and there took an oath that I would do just that—change my life.”

He concluded, “I knew I was never going back in, that the life I’d known on the street, all of it was history. I was going to change everything, because the night before I’d heard the Voice and the Voice had heard me!”

White stayed true to his promise. He turned his life around and began a career in the music business, recording some of the best soul songs of a generation.

Barry White would go on to have six Top 10 Billboard hits. These would include 1975's "You're The First, The Last, My Everything," 1973's "I'm Gonna Love You Just a Little More Baby," 1977's "It's Ecstasy When You Lay Down Next to Me," 1974's "Never Ever Gonna Give Ya Up," and 1975's "What Am I Gonna Do With You."

On April 12 in 1954, a now-iconic song that would help launch rock and roll into the mainstream was recorded during the final minutes of a rushed studio session.

That song was “Rock Around the Clock” by Bill Haley & His Comets—a track that didn’t just climb the charts, but helped redefine what popular music could be.

The recording session 72 years ago today wasn’t even supposed to be about the song. The band had spent most of their time working on another track, leaving only a short window to record “Rock Around the Clock,” which they had been performing live for months. With little time to spare, they managed just two takes—one too loud, the other stripped down—before engineers later stitched them together into a single finished version.

Even the now-famous guitar solo had a makeshift origin. Session guitarist Danny Cedrone reused a solo from an earlier recording, earning just $31 for what would later be considered one of rock’s defining moments.

When the single was released, however, it barely made a ripple. It was relegated to the B-side of “Thirteen Women (and Only One Man in Town)” and initially sold modestly, appearing destined to fade into obscurity.

Then came its second life.

In 1955, the song was featured in the opening credits of the film Blackboard Jungle, instantly connecting with a new generation of teenagers. Practically overnight, “Rock Around the Clock” exploded into a cultural phenomenon.

The success wasn’t just cultural—it was historic on the charts. “Rock Around the Clock” became the first rock and roll record to reach No. 1 on the pop charts in both the United States and the United Kingdom, holding the top spot in the U.S. for eight weeks in 1955. Before the modern Billboard Hot 100 existed, it also dominated multiple key metrics, topping the “Honor Roll of Hits,” leading disc jockey airplay charts, and becoming one of the most-played songs on jukeboxes across the country. It was, in every measurable way, the biggest sound in America—and soon, the world.

The track would go on to sell millions of copies worldwide and is widely credited with bringing rock and roll into the global mainstream. Its influence stretched far beyond the charts, becoming an anthem for youth culture in the 1950s and a blueprint for the sound that followed.

More than seven decades later, the song’s impact still echoes—proof that sometimes, history is made in the final minutes of a session that almost didn’t happen.

On April 12, 1977, Diana Hyland’s final episode of Eight Is Enough aired on ABC. The drama series about a Sacramento family had premiered less than one month prior, with Hyland cast as matriarch Joan Bradford opposite Dick Van Patten as newspaper columnist and patriarch Tom Bradford.

Hyland tragically died of breast cancer on March 27, 1977, after filming just four episodes of Eight Is Enough. At the time, an obituary in The New York Times announced, “Diana Hyland, who played a mother of eight in the ABC‐TV series Eight Is Enough, died yesterday at her home here. She was 41 years old. Miss Hyland, who had been briefly ill, had also appeared in Peyton Place and Young Dr. Malone on television.”

The actress’s final Eight Is Enough episode was titled “Turnabout,” and it was a regular episode that focused on eldest son David (Grant Goodeve), not a planned finale for Hyland.

“Turnabout” was originally scheduled to air on March 29, two days after Hyland’s death, but it was replaced with another episode that didn’t include the late actress.

The cast didn’t know Hyland was sick

In an interview with the Television Academy Foundation, Van Patten said he had been thrilled to be cast on Eight Is Enough opposite Hyland, whom he’d previously worked with on the 1960s soap opera Young Dr. Malone.

“I remember the day that the first day of work, when Diana came in she said, ‘Oh Dickie, I'm so glad I got this job, I love it. I'm so happy,’” the actor recalled. “And she was so happy that she got that job, and then it ended.”

Van Patten also revealed that he had been unaware of Hyland’s illness until the very end.

Hyland’s then-boyfriend, John Travolta, later told People magazine that her illness progressed rapidly. “She didn’t know she was going to die for sure until two weeks before,” the actor shared.

‘Eight Is Enough’ continued without Diana Hyland

Following Hyland’s unexpected death, Van Patten admitted that he expected Eight Is Enough to be canceled. “[After she died], I thought that would be the end of the series, but instead they wrote it into the script that I become a widower,” the actor told the Television Academy. “I thought they were going to cancel it. I mean, I remember everybody thought well, I guess this is the end, but [show creator] Bill Blinn said, ‘No, nothing doing, I'll write it right into it.’”

Eight Is Enough went on with co-stars Van Patten, Goodeve, Lani O’Grady, Laurie Walters, Susan Richardson, Dianne Kay, Connie Newton, Willie Aames, and Adam Rich. The series ran for five seasons and switched gears as widower Tom Bradford found love once again with newcomer Betty Buckley’s character, Abby.

After airing just nine episodes in Season 1, Eight Is Enough returned in September 1977 with the Season 2 premiere, “Is There a Doctor in the House? In the episode, it was revealed that Joan Bradford had died about a year earlier.

A few months later, the Eight Is Enough matriarch’s death was referenced in the two-part Christmas episode, “Yes, Nicholas, There Is a  Santa Claus,” which aired Dec. 14, 1977. In an extremely emotional scene, son Tommy Bradford (Aames) finds a Christmas present that his late mother had bought early and wrapped for him. The cast’s real-life emotions were apparent as several of them cried on camera during the emotional moment.

In April 1985, it was pure, unadulterated Madonna mania. The Queen of Pop had dropped her second album Like a Virgin in late 1984. She had already met future husband (and future ex-husband) Sean Penn on the set of her "Material Girl" music video in February. Then, just as she was about to kick off The Virgin Tour, she also made her acting debut. Desperately Seeking Susan, starring Madonna, opened 41 years ago on April 12, 1985.

Dedicated Madonna fans will want to bring up Madonna's earlier underground film A Certain Sacrifice, which wrapped in 1981, but it was a low-budget independent film. Madonna also got screen time in the 1985 movie Vision Quest, but only as an unnamed singer in a club without any real lines. So Desperately Seeking Susan ... it really was her first true acting role in major commercial film.

In Desperately Seeking Susan, Madonna stars alongside Rosanna Arquette and Aidan Quinn. Arquette plays Roberta Glass, a bored New Jersey housewife who becomes obsessed with a mystery woman named Susan (played by Madonna) she's following through personal ads. Things happen and, in part, because of one super-cool, gold pyramid jacket, Roberta gets mistaken for Susan, which sets her off on a new bohemian adventure in New York.

Desperately Seeking Susan was a solid box office success, too, grossing over $27.3 million in the U.S.

At the heart of the city’s identity is Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, a space that Jackson says "feels special because it’s grown so much in just 15 years, yet it never feels finished (in a great way)." Celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2026, the museum will officially open its 114,000-square-foot expansion to the public on June 6 and 7. Designed by the acclaimed Safdie Architects, the project highlights include two new galleries, educational spaces, art studios, a community floor, a new café and an outdoor plaza, all designed to deepen engagement.

While remaining open to the public throughout the construction period, Crystal Bridges is currently reinstalling every gallery and moving every work of art in the building to take visitors on a thematic journey through American art, architecture and nature. "The collection is truly world-class, but the way the museum rotates works and brings in new exhibitions means every visit feels a little different—you always see something you didn’t see before," says Jackson.

The museum "gently forces you to experience the architecture and the surrounding nature as part of taking in the art," she says. Jackson's personal favorite space is the postwar contemporary gallery, "especially the Joan Mitchell there, which I think is one of her best works. That mix of discovery and personal connection is what keeps me coming back." For a more contemporary edge, visitors can head to the Onyx coffee shop located inside The Momentary—a decommissioned cheese factory turned contemporary art space—which allows you to take your coffee with you while browsing the galleries, creating a fluid experience between caffeine and culture.

An Elevated Culinary Map

Bentonville’s food scene has leveled up to match its cultural growth, offering everything from refined fine dining to authentic street-level flavors. "It's so hard to narrow it down with so many great options around town and with new spots opening left and right!" says local expert Robertson. "I love meeting friends at the Meteor for Happy Hour, Lady Slipper and Callisto for date night, drinks with a view at the Tower Bar, burgers at Townie Burgers and Junto for sushi."

When it’s time for a post-adventure drink, the community gravitates toward spots like The HUB Bike Lounge or The Meteor, which Klasky describes as featuring "great service, great drinks and great quality." For a more formal evening, the city delivers via Conifer, the Hive, Preacher's Son, and Bar Cleeta, all of which Robertson says "deliver on flavor and experience in their own distinct and beautiful ways." For those seeking a quintessential local meal, Robertson insists that "Yeyo's... tortillas are simply the best, no contest!"

To find the true character of Bentonville, you have to look toward the specialized corners of the city. Robertson points to Two Friends Books & Cafe, an independent bookstore that "is so welcoming it feels like the Cheers of bookstores even if you've never been there." If your timing is right, Klasky recommends seeking out a "hidden gem like Field Supply's curated selection of vintage offerings," though it is famously only open on the first weekend of every month.

For a final, uniquely Bentonville moment, a trip to Airship Coffee at Coler is essential. As Klasky notes, "you can only reach it by bike or on foot, which makes the experience even more special."

Robertson summarizes the unique draw of the city perfectly: "You have access to world-class dining, art experiences, a dynamic business culture and you can be on a beautiful forest trail within 10 minutes of leaving the office... it's the best of the big city and small town life rolled into one."

Some legends will be remembered forever, and they deserve to be. Tom Clancy is one of them, who would have turned 79 today, April 12, 2026. Sadly, the bestselling author died in 2013, although his works will live on forever.

While many have read his books, there are some who will only know of them because of the success of the Prime Video series Jack Ryan. It was the best adaptation of Clancy’s work, although there were other movie attempts. Sadly, Clancy never got to see the adaptation, as it didn’t premiere until 2018.

An Author Until the End

Clancy originally started publishing his novels in 1983, and he continued to write until his death. While he is best known for his series focusing on Jack Ryan, he has written about other characters. His later works even focused on Ryan’s son and nephews to help continue the story.

His first novel, The Hunt for Red October, was the first in the Jack Ryan series, set during the Cold War. When Soviet submarine captain Marko Ramius goes rogues with a cutting-edge ballistic missile submarine, the CIA has to step in. This introduces Jack Ryan, the analyst working for the CIA, who needs to prove his theory that Ramius actually wants to defect to the United States.

The story would then continue with The Patriot Games and soon he found himself with a whole series devoted to this main character. However, he would also co-author with others, including via Red Storm Rising with Larry Bond and SSN with Martin Greenberg.

He also wasn’t afraid to getinto the world of non-fiction, releasing titles such as Submarine: A Guided Tour Inside a Nuclear Warship and Marine: A Guided Tour of a Marine Expeditionary Unit. He made sure to do the research, as he was an insurance agent when he first started writing!

Tom Clancy Became the Cornerstone of Publishing at Putnam

Deborah Grosvenor, the editor at the Naval Institute Press, knew that Clancy was going to be a huge hit, and she made sure that The Hunt for Red October landed at her publishing house. It was the right call, as this was a novel that President Ronald Reagan praised, leading to a boost of 300,000 hardcover copies and two million paperback copies!

Despite his background in insurance, Clancy brought technical accuracy to the story, leading to meeting with several of the U.S. military’s high-ranking officers at the time. However, Putnam would end up getting their hands on the next books.

Red Storm Rising would be the first to be published at Putnam, where Clancy quickly became the cornerstone of the publishing house. With 17 novels making it to the New York Times Bestseller list and him becoming one of just three authors to sell more than two million first-print copies in the 1990s, it’s not a surprise.
