Twenty-five years after a Los Angeles restaurant became forever linked to the murder of Robert Blake’s wife, the late actor’s son has returned to the same location to stage a murder mystery.

Noah Blake, an actor known for the Harry and the Hendersons TV series and Teen Witch, is directing and starring in A Killer Night in Studio City, an immersive murder mystery that opened Sept. 15 at Vitello’s in Studio City, Calif.

It’s a location with an intensely personal history for the Blake family.

On May 4, 2001, Robert and wife Bonny Lee Bakley had dinner at Vitello’s. After leaving the restaurant, Bakley, 44, was shot and killed while sitting in Robert’s car nearby.

Robert was later charged with her murder but acquitted in 2005. A civil jury subsequently found him liable for Bakley’s death and awarded her family $30 million. That award was later reduced to $15 million, and the parties eventually reached a confidential settlement. Robert, who maintained his innocence, died in 2023 at age 89.

Now Noah has returned to Vitello’s for a very different kind of murder story.

“”When I was first approached about this, of course, there was this little bit of … and then I was like, ‘Wait, what am I doing? Of course, I should do this. This is a chance for me to, not rewrite history, but to create a new page and to create a new connection and a new relationship for me with this place, for my name with this place, for my family with this place,” Noah told Fox News Digital.

He described the production as an opportunity “not to rewrite history, but to create a new page” for himself and his family at a restaurant he said they frequented when he was growing up.

A Killer Night in Studio City is set in 1958 and described as an immersive murder mystery in which Hollywood glamour collides with “scandal, ambition, romance, and murder.”

Noah said he wants the restaurant to carry happier associations for his 4-year-old son.

“I want him to think about, ‘Oh, Vitello’s, that’s the place where daddy did that fun show.’ Not this other stuff,” he explained. “I’m not trying to minimize that tragedy, but it wasn’t my tragedy, and it was a cross that I’ve had to bear and still will probably for the rest of my life.”

But Rose Lenore, Bakley’s daughter with Robert, has a very different reaction to the production.

“I think him doing it at Vitello’s is upsetting for me and anyone who loved Bonny,” Lenore told Fox News Digital.

She said she found the choice particularly difficult because of the restaurant’s connection to her mother’s final night.

“To have Robert Blake’s son do any show at Vitello’s, let alone a murder mystery show, I find that to be insensitive and upsetting,” she said of her half-brother. Noah is Blake’s son from his first marriage, to actress Sondra Kerr.

Lenore emphasized that she wasn’t trying to dismiss Noah’s own experience or wish him harm, but said she felt an obligation to speak publicly about something involving her mother.

“I’m also not here to invalidate anyone’s healing journey, if that’s what this is for him,” she said. “But I also think it’s my moral obligation to stand up for what I believe in.”

Noah responded to Lenore’s criticism in a statement to Fox News Digital, explaining that returning to Vitello’s was part of confronting a painful chapter of his own life.

“Choosing to walk back into that space now and create something uniquely mine—something lighthearted and entertaining that people are enjoying—is part of my own healing journey,” he said.

He stressed that he wasn’t attempting to erase or rewrite what happened.

“I’m simply adding a new page to it, and I don’t ask or expect anyone else to sign off on what I need to do to heal,” Noah said.

Noah also said Lenore is “absolutely entitled to her feelings” and revealed that he had reached out to her in hopes of discussing the issue privately, but that conversation had not yet happened.

Returning to Vitello’s has also forced Noah to confront lingering questions about his father.

“I had to wrestle with who my father really was for everything I thought he was or knew or saw him as,” he said. “Did he do this thing? Was he really capable of this? Was he that far gone? Was my father this monster?”

Noah described his father as someone who could be loving, kind and generous but who could also be “menacing and threatening.”

Before his death, Robert continued to deny killing Bakley.

For Noah, however, A Killer Night in Studio City is an attempt to make sure the darkest chapter in his family’s history isn’t the only story attached to a place he once loved.

The production is scheduled to run at Vitello’s through Halloween.

This book was a huge hit when it was first printed in 1952; now it’s back as a bestseller following a popular Netflix adaptation.

John Steinbeck’s East of Eden follows multiple generations of a family in California’s Salinas Valley, reimagining the biblical stories of Adam and Eve and Cain and Abel against the backdrop of the post-Civil War era through the end of World War I. It won the 1962 Nobel Prize in Literature, with Steinbeck believing it to be his greatest work.

The streamer describes the adaptation as “a fiercely independent woman drives a rift between two brothers, igniting a saga that unfolds across two generations.”

East of Eden has found itself back in the No. 1 spot as it dominates Amazon’s Best Sellers List and is on the company’s “Best of #BookTok” audiobook list as well.

The Netflix limited series was released by the streamer in its entirety on Thursday, Oct. 1. East of Eden stars Florence Pugh, Christopher Abbott, Mike Faist, Hoon Lee, Ciarán Hinds, and Martha Plimpton. It was created and co-written by Zoe Kazan, the granddaughter of Elia Kazan, who directed the 1955 film version of the book.

Netflix released the series’ official trailer on Sept. 2, with Pugh’s character, Cathy Ames, serving as its narrator.

“I believe there are monsters born in this world to human parents,” she said. “A monster is a variation from the accepted normal; a child may be born perfect but without kindness or conscience.”

Netflix’s East of Eden quickly became the second most-watched series on the streamer after it was released, according to FlixPatrol. It remains in the No. 2 spot after the 1987 sitcom A Different World. The series has received mostly positive reviews, with an 87% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and an 81% from fans.

One of Austin’s full 60-minute sessions that I tried features a warm-up, low-impact aerobics and high-energy aerobics, toning and trimming and a soothing cool-down.

During the class, Austin leads her fellow fitness enthusiasts—who are clad in vibrant leotards—through exercises like side steps with claps, front kicks, arm punches, cross-body reaches, side-lying leg lifts, glute kickbacks and more, all while keeping up with the beat.

Although Austin’s routine doesn’t require any fancy equipment and relies on body weight alone, it provides a stellar workout. In fact, I was out of breath after my first few sessions before my body got into the swing of things. My typical workouts include Pilates and leisurely cardio, so I’m not used to high-energy aerobics on a regular basis. They gave me a total-body burn I wasn’t expecting—but enjoyed.

In every workout, I know I can count on Austin’s bubbly personality and encouraging commentary to keep me going strong. Some of my favorite lines from this session are, “Smile everybody—we’re going to burn fat!” and, “This is the best way to trim and tone.”

Another thing I love about Austin’s fitness videos? She keeps things fun and fresh. Sometimes, the workout guru has taken things beachside for a change of scenery. The Real Question: Is Her Hyper-Perky Energy Motivating or Dated?

I’m a firm believer that an instructor can totally make or break the workout experience. I favor someone who keeps me engaged and motivated to stick with a fitness routine for the long haul. That’s why I gravitated toward Austin’s warm, bubbly and positive personality. When I exercise at home, I need a workout program or video to feel as though I’m training in person with an instructor. Austin’s retro—and current—workouts deliver exactly that. While this training style may not be for everyone, it certainly works for me.

How Denise Austin’s Methods Hold Up Against Modern Pilates and HIIT

I’m certainly not ditching my Pilates membership anytime soon, but Austin’s low-impact aerobics are the ideal complement to my well-rounded workout routine. Pilates will always be my go-to because I genuinely enjoy in-person classes on the reformer. Plus, I love using additional tools like the magic circle, spring board and Pilates ball, since the extra resistance beyond just my body weight makes me feel like I’m progressing. I’m also on a solid roll attending three to four Pilates classes a week and feel incredibly accomplished. 

That said, Austin’s videos are perfect for the days when I’m craving a home cardio routine and want to burn extra calories while raising my heart rate—because her aerobics aren’t for the faint of heart. Unlike many workouts that weave in classic rest breaks, Austin’s flow is smooth and done in a continuous manner. The format is different from high-intensity interval training (HIIT), which involves alternating between short bursts of vigorous exercise and brief bouts of rest. 

I was pleasantly surprised by how challenged I felt doing Austin’s aerobics. They kept my body moving for the full 60 minutes!

A home warranty can look appealing when a house has an aging air conditioner, older appliances or several systems that would be expensive to repair all at once. But whether the contract is worth paying for depends on more than the monthly or annual price.

Home warranties are generally service contracts, not homeowners’ insurance or manufacturer warranties. They may help pay for eligible repairs or replacements when covered systems and appliances break down, but service fees, exclusions and coverage limits still apply.

That makes the decision largely a question of risk. Some homeowners prefer paying for coverage so that certain unexpected breakdowns are easier to budget for. Others may be comfortable keeping a larger repair fund and paying contractors directly.

So, when can a home warranty make financial sense—and when should you look more closely before buying? Here’s what you need to know.

Are Home Warranties Worth It for Older Homes?

A home warranty can be more appealing when a house contains older systems or appliances that are still functioning but could require repairs during the contract term. Age alone does not guarantee a covered breakdown, but older equipment can create more uncertainty for homeowners who do not want to absorb a large repair bill unexpectedly.

American Home Shield’s current plans cover breakdowns from normal wear and tear on eligible systems and appliances. AHS also says its coverage can include certain undetectable pre-existing breakdowns, rust, corrosion and failures related to insufficient maintenance, subject to the plan agreement.

The contract still matters. An old appliance is not automatically covered simply because it stops working.

What Does a Home Warranty Actually Pay For?

The answer depends on the plan (and company). For example, American Home Shield currently offers three homeowner coverage levels. Here is a quick overview of each:

If you’re comparing plans, American Home Shield lets homeowners choose coverage based on whether they primarily want systems protection or coverage on major appliances.

How Much Can Coverage Limits Affect the Value?

Quite a bit. A home warranty may cover a breakdown, but it may still limit how much the company will pay.

American Home Shield currently lists a $5,000 limit per covered HVAC system across its homeowner plans. Its ShieldPlatinum plan also lists up to $4,000 per covered appliance, a $1,000 roof-leak repair limit and a $50,000 total limit per agreement term.

Those limits are important when evaluating whether a contract provides enough protection for the systems you are most concerned about. If a repair or replacement costs more than the applicable limit, the remaining expense may still be yours.

Why It’s Important Not To Forget the Service Fee

A covered repair usually is not completely free. Home warranty companies commonly charge a service fee when you request a technician. That means the cost of using the plan includes both the contract price and whatever service charges apply during the year.

The Federal Trade Commission specifically recommends considering these fees when deciding whether a service contract is likely to save money. That is why comparing only the monthly premium can give an incomplete picture.

A homeowner who makes several service requests during the year will have a different total cost than someone who never files one.

Could You Already Have Overlapping Coverage?

Possibly. New appliances may still have manufacturer warranties, while recently built homes can have builder warranties covering certain defects or components. For this reason, the FTC cautions that service contracts can sometimes duplicate coverage a consumer already has and recommends comparing the contract with existing warranties before buying.

Homeowners insurance is different. It generally addresses covered events such as fire, theft or certain storm damage rather than ordinary breakdowns from wear and tear. Understanding those distinctions can help prevent paying twice for similar protection.

Are Home Warranties Worth It for Home Buyers?

They can be particularly attractive during the first year of homeownership. A buyer may know the age of the HVAC system or appliances, but still have limited experience with how reliably they operate day to day.

A home warranty can provide another budgeting tool during that adjustment period, particularly when several covered systems are already older. The value still depends on the contract terms. Buyers should review the exact plan rather than assuming every mechanical problem discovered after closing will be covered.

Can a Home Warranty Help Sellers?

Potentially. A seller-paid home warranty can give buyers another layer of protection against certain covered breakdowns after closing.

That does not increase the condition of the house itself, and it should not replace required disclosures or necessary repairs. Instead, it can function as an added service-contract benefit for eligible systems or appliances that remain with the home.

American Home Shield offers separate real estate home warranty plans for transactions, with ShieldEssential, ShieldPlus and ShieldComplete options.

When Might a Home Warranty Be Less Valuable?

A contract may be less compelling when most major appliances and systems are new and still covered by manufacturer or builder warranties. It may also be less attractive for homeowners who already maintain a substantial repair fund and prefer choosing and paying contractors directly.

The FTC recommends comparing the contract cost against the likelihood of needing repairs, reviewing coverage limits and exclusions and examining how the claims process works. In some cases, setting aside money for repairs may make more sense.

So, Are Home Warranties Worth It in 2026?

A home warranty can be worthwhile when the contract covers systems or appliances you are genuinely concerned about, and the potential repair exposure would be difficult to absorb comfortably. The calculation becomes less favorable when coverage overlaps with existing warranties or when exclusions and limits make the benefits too narrow for your needs.

The best approach is to compare the contract against the home you actually own: the age of its systems, condition of its appliances, size of your repair fund and the amount of risk you are comfortable carrying yourself.

The country music superstar, 50, on Saturday, Oct. 3, marked his wife’s 57th birthday with sweet words and a thoughtful gift that was sure to make her day even more special.

“The best there is!!!!!! Everyone, wish @gwenstefani a happy birthday!!!! I love you pretty girl!!!” Shelton sweetly captioned on Instagram alongside a carousel of photos highlighting some of the memories the couple has shared together.

Stefani is shown planting a smooch on her hubby’s cheek in the fourth shot, with her hair in a high ponytail as the Oklahoma native leans into her with a smile on his face. A Thoughtful Gift For Gwen

Aside from showering his famous wife with love on her birthday on social media, Shelton also purchased a thoughtful gift for Stefani, as shown on her Instagram Stories. 

The clip shows Stefani showing off the neat light-pink box, adorned with various floral decorations, before opening it up to reveal what’s inside. After opening up the box, Stefani shows what appears to be an elegant necklace from XIV Karats Ltd., featuring the number 11 as the pendant. It is unclear what the number 11 represents, though it could signify the anniversary of when the couple went public with their relationship. 

A Love Story That Started on The Voice

Stefani and Shelton first met on the set of Season 7 of The Voice in 2014 while working together as coaches. After their respective divorces ended, the two bonded and went from friends to romantic partners, publicly confirming their relationship in November 2015. The pair tied the knot on July 3, 2021.

A quick question – are you one of those people who, every October pours a margarita at midnight and puts on the same movie it has watched for years? If so, you’re clearly a fan of the Owens sisters and Practical Magic. The critics who reviewed the film in 1998 saw something very different, and with a new sequel, the difference in opinion between fans and critics has gotten larger.

Practical Magic arrived in theaters on Oct. 16, 1998, with Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman as Sally and Gillian Owens, sisters born into a family of witches and a curse that dooms the men they love. Reviewers were…not kind. The film holds a 31% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes from 111 reviews, and the site’s critics consensus faults its abrupt shifts in tone while conceding that the chemistry between its two stars made a strong case for future collaborations.

Audiences said something else entirely. On the same page, the film carries a 73% Popcornmeter score drawn from more than 100,000 ratings. That is a 42-point gap between the people paid to review it and the people who kept watching it.

The early days were hard on the people who made it. The movie opened at No. 1 with $13.1 million and then faded, and Bullock has been candid about what followed. “It got quiet,” she recalled. Rotten Tomatoes lists its final domestic total at $46.8 million.

Directed by Griffin Dunne and adapted from Alice Hoffman‘s 1995 novel, with Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing as the aunts who raise the sisters, the film found its audience long after it left theaters. It has since become an October staple, with its midnight margaritas scene becoming a tradition of its own.

That loyalty is the reason a sequel exists 28 years later. Practical Magic 2 opened Sept. 10 with Bullock and Kidman back as both stars and producers, Susanne Bier directing, and Joey King and Maisie Williams as Sally’s daughters. According to Rotten Tomatoes, it knocked Spider-Man: Brand New Day out of the top spot at the weekend box office. The original returned to theaters on Aug. 11, a month ahead of it.

The reviewers / fans split continues. The sequel sits at 36% on the Tomatometer from 168 reviews, five points above its predecessor. Its Popcornmeter score, drawn from more than 2,500 verified ratings, is 91%. Rotten Tomatoes summarized the audience response as a nostalgic celebration of family and tradition.

The two films now sit side by side with nearly matching critical scores and a fan base that has grown more devoted with each passing fall. Hoffman has continued the Owens family story in print, and her 2021 novel The Book of Magic helped inspire the sequel.

Dancing With The Stars pro Britt Stewart just shared a heartbreaking tribute to her dance partner Taylor Hanson following their shocking elimination from the competition series.

The pair were eliminated at the end of the show’s “Yacht Rock Night” on Tuesday, Sept. 29. Stewart and Hanson scored 18/30 for their foxtrot to “What a Fool Believes” by The Doobie Brothers.

On Saturday, Oct. 3, Stewart shared an emotional message about her DWTS journey with the singer-songwriter to Instagram.

“Taylor, thank you for showing up fully and authentically. Thank you for trusting me. What we created together was bigger than how many weeks we were given to create it,” she wrote underneath a carousel of images of the pair throughout the season. “I will forever be proud of our partnership and our DWTS journey together. Thank you for reminding me why I love to create and connect!”

“There are times in your life that you know will impact you in big ways,” Stewart continued. “I truly believe that having @taylorhanson as my partner for @dancingwiththestars Season 35 is and will be one of those times. I’m not even sure I am expressing the right words to sum it all up but all I know is that I’m grateful.”

The dancer ended her message by thanking fans who’ve sent messages of love and support following their elimination.

Stewart and Hanson’s elimination has been controversial amongst fans as they weren’t the lowest scoring couple of the night and it marks another early exit for Stewart. Last season, she was eliminated first last season alongside former NBA player Baron Davis.

Since making her DWTS debut as a pro in season 29, Stewart has been eliminated within the first few weeks in five of her seven seasons on the show. She previously made it to the semifinals with her husband Daniel Durant on season 31 as well as Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir on her first season.

During a post-elimination interview on the DWTS official podcast, Hanson shared that he specifically requested Stewart to be his partner this season.

“I specifically asked the show. I said, ‘If you’re gonna pair me with anyone, I would like to be paired with Britt, because she represents the spirit of why this show is great and why it’s 35 seasons in.'”

Christa Pike “may never recover” from a botched execution attempt, according to her attorney.

Stephen Ferrell, part of the 50-year-old’s legal team, spoke to Jake Tapper during a Sunday, Oct. 4 appearance on CNN’s State of the Union.

“We don’t really know the prognosis yet and may not know for several days,” he said, sharing that he has not met with Pike since she was hospitalized.

Ferrell added that she is on a ventilator and “critically ill.”

“It remains to be seen what the future is,” he continued. “I think one of the main things that will leave this up in the air for a while is the fact that we don’t know what the prognosis is — as in, the long-term prognosis. If she recovers — she may not fully recover.” 

“And there may be issues about her competence. We just don’t know any of this,” he said.

The death row inmate survived an execution attempt on Wednesday, Sept. 30. After Pike was given two doses of pentobarbital, she reportedly became unconscious but kept breathing.

Ferrell said that the Tennessee Attorney General’s Office has “not given us any indication as to what their intentions will be.”

When Taylor Swift waltzed onto the Saturday Night Live stage during Dakota Johnson‘s monologue on Saturday, October 3, the studio audience was truly shocked. According to Late Nighter, producers relied on their bag of tricks to keep the megastar’s appearance top secret.

Hours earlier, as Johnson and the cast performed a dress rehearsal in front of the audience, the Verity star delivered the same monologue she would during the live show, but cast member Sarah Sherman posed as her friend, delivering the same lines Swift would recite on the live show. Late Nighter reported that Sherman gave the audience no indication that she was just filling in for the megastar; in fact, it’s not even clear if she knew who would be showing up in her place.

With more than 500 people working behind the scenes at SNL, it’s no small feat to keep a secret guest under wraps, especially someone as famous as Swift. Executive producer Lorne Michaels often personally coordinates scripting with the celebrity, who arrives via an underground, VIP entrance at 30 Rockefeller and is whisked up to Studio 8H for their cameo.

For her top secret appearance, Swift walked onto the set midway through Johnson’s monologue, just as the actress was talking about leaning on her friends through her very public breakups. Johnson introduced Swift as “my literal therapist,” but the music queen pushed back on the title, claiming that Johnson just shows up at her door with empty bottles of wine and endless stories about her exes. Eventually, Swift joked, she has her security detail drive Johnson home.

Swift returned to the stage at the end of the night, after Johnson thanked the cast and crew. The Life of a Showgirl singer was carrying a birthday cake for her friend, who turned 37 as the clock struck midnight.

Although her appearance was a surprise to most, Swifties were already buzzing before SNL about the possibility their queen would make an appearance, given that Johnson is a close friend and stars in her new music video for Patient Zero.

It’s not the first time Swift has made a secret cameo on SNL. Her last live pop-in was literally a two-second appearance in 2023, when she showed up mid-show to introduce her friend Ice Spice’s musical performance. She also surprised the audience during Seth Rogan‘s 2014 monologue, alongside James Franco and Zooey Deschanel. In 2021, Swift made a prerecorded cameo in the SNL Digital Shorts music video Three Sad Virgins with Pete Davidson.

Of course, Swift has also made non-secret appearances on SNL, starting with her first time on the show in January 2009, as the musical guest. Following the death of her partner Ken Urker, Gypsy Rose Blanchard has started a campaign to combat cyberbullying and harassment. Urker was found dead at his Louisiana residence on Thursday, Oct. 1. Blanchard said that he “endured an unimaginable level of public scrutiny and relentless cyberbullying across social media platforms” before his death.

According to PEOPLE, Blanchard believed that Urker overdosed, saying that he “wasn’t in a good state of mind lately” and that “he had been drinking a lot to cope.” Also, Lafourche Parish deputies found Urker dead with a blood-stained paper towel on his left arm, with drug paraphernalia in his bathroom next to a brown, powdery substance.

Three days after his death, Blanchard shared a Change.org petition on Instagram in support of Kenan’s Law to change how social media platforms deal with online harassment. She stated that reports of harassment and cyberbullying were made across multiple social media platforms, but that “far too often, the response was simply: ‘No violation.'”

“I only have my daughter and my voice.❤️‍🩹” In honor of Ken, I am asking for your support for Kenan’s Law.🤍” Blanchard wrote in the caption.

“Kenan’s Law is about changing the way social-media platforms handle repeated reports of harassment…This is not about silencing criticism or taking away anyone’s freedom of speech. Public figures can and should be criticized. But public figures are still human beings, and fame should never erase someone’s humanity,” Blanchard added.

Blanchard said that Urker’s passing drove her to “turn pain into purpose” and “advocate for a better system for the next person who feels like no one is listening.

“Fame does not erase humanity,” Blanchard stated on Instagram. “A pattern cannot always be understood one post at a time.🤍”

The special appearance also carries extra significance for Jack following the death of his father last year.

Ozzy died at age 76 on July 22, 2025, just weeks after performing what was billed as his final concert with the original Black Sabbath lineup in his hometown of Birmingham, England.

Ozzy’s family announced his death in a statement, revealing that he was surrounded by his loved ones in his final moments.

When Can Cheap Travel Insurance Be Enough?

A lower-cost policy can make sense when your financial exposure is relatively small. For example, you may not need an expensive cancellation benefit if most of your reservations are refundable. Also, a domestic traveler may already have strong health insurance, reducing the importance of a large travel-medical benefit.

Sometimes—but only if you actually need them. ‘Cancel For Any Reason’ coverage, adventure-sports benefits and rental-car protection are examples of options that may add to the premium.

NAIC says CFAR can increase total travel insurance cost by close to 50% while generally reimbursing only 50% to 75% of eligible trip costs. An upgrade makes more sense when it addresses a specific risk in your trip rather than simply making the policy look more comprehensive.

Cheap travel insurance can be worth it when the plan adequately covers the financial risks you actually face. A low premium should not be the only deciding factor, but neither should a longer list of benefits.

Compare cancellation and interruption limits, medical and evacuation coverage, baggage caps, deductibles and exclusions. Then consider what protection you already have elsewhere.

NAIC emphasizes that each travel policy has its own limits and covered situations, so consumers should ask exactly what is and is not included before purchasing. The goal is not to buy the cheapest policy or the most comprehensive one. It’s to buy enough protection for the losses you cannot comfortably absorb yourself.

Sass Jordan, rock star and judge of Canadian Idol, has passed away at age 65. Jordan’s family announced her death with a post on her Instagram account on Friday, Oct. 2, saying that she was surrounded by her “loving family” as she “peacefully crossed over to the other side.”

“She remains in our hearts, an inimitable force of nature. An irreplaceable being of light and joy!” the caption stated.

Jordan was born in Birmingham, England, on Dec. 23, 1960, to French literature professor Albert Jordan and ballerina Jean Lanceman. She moved from France to Montreal with her parents at age three. Her publicist, Eric Alper, wrote on his website that seeing David Bowie on his Diamond Dogs tour inspired Jordan to become a singer and a musician.

“Over four decades, she gave Canadian rock one of its most recognizable voices, carved out space for women in a genre long dominated by men, and opened doors for the young musicians who came through her band,” Alper wrote.

Jordan made her recording debut in 1986 as co-lead vocalist on “Come On (Baby Tonight” on Bündock’s album, “Mauve.” Two years later, she made her solo debut with “Tell Somebody,” which rose to the #11 spot in Canada and won her the Juno Award for Most Promising Female Vocalist in 1989. She was then nominated for Best Female Vocalist in 1990, 1993, and 1995.

Jordan moved to Los Angeles in January 1990, where she recorded “Racine,” her highest-selling album, with an estimated 450,000 copies sold worldwide. She toured alongside Aerosmith, The Rolling Stones, AC/DC and Van Halen. In 2003, she became a judge on Canadian Idol, where she remained for its entire six-season run.

Jordan is survived by her husband, Derek Sharp, daughter Stella Jordan-Sharp (Daniel Yepes), stepdaughter Brianne Sharp, brother Daniel Jordan (Isabelle Courville),” Alper wrote in a statement. “The family asks for privacy as they grieve, and thanks fans around the world for the love and music they shared with Sass across her remarkable life.”
