Who Is Sam Darnold's Fiancée Katie Hoofnagle? Inside the Seattle Seahawks Quarterback's Love Story

Sun, 02/08/2026 - 6:45am

Sam Darnold is Seattle's golden boy of the moment thanks to leading the Seahawks to Super Bowl LX—and Katie Hoofnagle has stood by him in his journey to playing in the Big Game.

Darnold gave Hoofnagle a shoutout in a pre-Super Bowl interview in February 2026, gushing of his bride-to-be, “She reminds me of why I do what I do, why I go to work every single day … Sometimes the season can get long, but she makes it all the [more] worthwhile."

It wasn't the only time Darnold has expressed his adoration for Hoofnagle publicly.

Last year, he told Us Weekly, “She’s great. She’s always been my biggest supporter. And I love her, and I thank her for that all the time.”

Is Sam Darnold in a relationship?

Yep! He's happily engaged to Hoofnagle. They had a super-cute exchange when the Seattle Seahawks won the NFC Championship on Jan. 25, 2026.

In a video captured by ESPN, Hoofnagle runs to Darnold on the field. Darnold hugs her and quips, "How about that?" (That's the same thing Travis Kelce told Taylor Swift when he won the AFC Championship last year!)

An overjoyed Hoofnagle yells, "Let's go!"

Darnold hugs her again and tells her he loves her. "I love you more," she responds with a smooch. "Dude!"

He then hands her an NFC Championship hat. She puts it on and he tells her, "Fire!"

A beaming Hoofnagle hugs him again and gushes, "I love you. I'm so proud of you! Oh my God!"

Darnold tells her, "It doesn't feel real."

She won't let him deny his success, telling him, "Hey! You did that!"

Ever humble, Darnold smiles and says, "You did that."

They compromised: Hoofnagle smiled at him and said, "We did that."

Who is Katie Hoofnagle?

Born Dec. 3, 1997, Hoofnagle grew up in the San Francisco Bay area of California. After graduating from the University of South Carolina, Hoofnagle moved to Charlotte, North Carolina.

"Going home to the San Francisco Bay Area after graduating college would’ve provided me with countless opportunities for professional growth, but not the personal growth I knew I needed," she wrote on LinkedIn. "At the end of the day, I felt like there was more to life than just my career and I knew I needed to dig my roots somewhere new. What was meant to be a short term plan in an unfamiliar city turned into a home I never want to leave."

There's much more to Hoofnagle than her career.

She clearly has a sense of humor: Hoofnagle's Instagram bio reads, "I'm here so I don't get fined," a famous quote by Marshawn Lynch, and she and Darnold rocked the infamous (and iconic!) Britney Spears-Justin Timberlake all-denim ensembles for Halloween last year.

She's a girls girl if her Insta feed says anything, as Hoofnagle is frequently photographed with her girlfriends. She's also pals with other NFL WAGs, including Hailee Steinfeld, wife of Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen (see them in slide 7 below).

Darnold has said she gets him out of his shell during the offseason.

“If she wants to go somewhere and I just want to chill, she’s like, ‘Let’s go out to dinner. We need to go to dinner,’” he told Us Weekly.

In 2021, she worked at the Masters golf tournament.

In addition to her work as a marketing specialist, Hoofnagle also earns money thanks to brand partnerships. Ahead of the NFL Honors in February 2025, she posted an Instagram video of herself getting ready that was sponsored by Jo Malone London fragrances (she said she was wearing the English Pear & Sweet Pea scent to the event!). She will also partner with DoorDash in social ads around the 2026 Super Bowl.

Does Katie Hoofnagle play soccer?

Hoofnagle played club soccer at the University of South Carolina, and it's one of the things she and Darnold bond over.

“The support [from] my girlfriend is unbelievable,” Darnold told Us Weekly. “You know, the fact that she just understands it. She’s a former athlete herself, and just gets kind of the grind of everything. When I just want to chill, she’s very up for that, especially during the season.”

The Gridiron Galaxy: 5 Times Sci-Fi and Fantasy Tackled the Super Bowl

Sun, 02/08/2026 - 6:43am

Whether it’s a government conspiracy or a Staten Island basement full of vampires, the 'Big Game' has a funny way of showing up in the most unexpected corners of the multiverse. Here are five times our favorite genre shows proved that you can’t escape Super Bowl Sunday.

1. 3rd Rock from the Sun: The Supermodel Invasion

In the two-part special '36! 24! 36! Dick!', the Solomon family (aliens posing as humans) finally encounters the hype of Super Bowl Sunday. They discover a literal 'big game' threat: a troop of Earth’s top supermodels are actually rival aliens using the game’s massive broadcast to hypnotize the entire human race. Ironically, given the ad hype during the Super Bowl, it's a satire on the 'mind-controlling' power of high-budget commercials.

2. What We Do in the Shadows: The "Superb Owl"

In the fan-favorite episode 'Brain Scramblies,' ancient vampires are invited to a neighbor's Super Bowl party. Having never heard of the NFL, they assume they are attending a celebration for a 'Superb Owl.' The trio spends the night genuinely excited to meet thid mystical being, only to be disappointed that a huge owl never makes an appearance.

3. The X-Files: The Ultimate Conspiracy

Ever wonder why some teams are perpetually cursed? In 'Musings of a Cigarette Smoking Man,' we see the show’s shadow-government architect managing world events. His pettiest order? That the Buffalo Bills must never win a Super Bowl as long as he’s alive. That's right, the 'Big Game' is just another tool for the secret Syndicate.

Related: First 'X-Files' Reboot Details Revealed and Fans Are Divided

4. The Simpsons: The Great Stadium Heist

While not technicallysci-fi or fantasy, The Simpsons covers a lot of the same ground. In the legendary 'Sunday, Cruddy Sunday,' Homer leads a busload of Springfield’s finest to the Super Bowl. The episode features typical Simpsons weirdness, like fake tickets made of crackers, a locker room prison break, and a stampede onto the field. A great parody of the Super Bowl as a road-trip pilgrimage.

5. Stranger Things: The Upside Down Takeover

In one of the most famous marketing moments in genre history, Stranger Thingshijacked Super Bowl LI to announce its second season. The teaser began as a vintage Eggo commercial that distorted into the supernatural darkness of the Upside Down, making it clear that Netflix was betting big on the show.

Despite aliens, global conspiracies, and alternate dimensions, the Superb Owl continues. Just don't tell the vampires.

7 Best '50s Hairstyles, According to a Celebrity Stylist

Glamour in the 1950s wasn’t subtle—and that’s exactly why it still resonates. This was the era of hair that made an entrance, with soft volume, glossy finishes and elegant styles that felt unapologetically feminine. Decades later, those same silhouettes continue to influence how we style our hair, proving that drama, when done right, never feels dated.

From voluminous ponytails and sculpted curls to perfectly shaped bobs and sky-high bouffants, ’50s hairstyles were all about confidence and intention. Every wave had a purpose. Every strand was placed. Inspired by icons like Marilyn Monroe and Grace Kelly, these looks paired beautifully with bold red lips, winged eyeliner and that intoxicating movie-star ease.

Now, these classic styles are back, but with a contemporary twist. If you’re ready to tap into that old-Hollywood energy without going full costume, you’re in the right place. Ahead, we’re breaking down the seven best '50s hairstyles for women, according to a celebrity stylist—plus, modern ways to make each one your own.

What Was the Popular Hairstyle in the 1950s?

This iconic era delivered some of the most iconic hair moments of all time—and that’s no accident. "The 1950s were one of the most glamorous eras in beauty," says celebrity hairstylistMarcos Diaz (who has worked with Katy Perry and Hailey Bieber), who notes that hairstyles during the decade were "polished, intentional and beautifully shaped from every angle."

Volume played a starring role, whether it showed up as soft, face-framing waves or more sculpted, high-impact shapes that felt undeniably luxe, says Diaz, pointing to icons like Audrey Hepburn and Brigitte Bardot as the blueprint. Their signature styles struck the perfect balance between femininity and confidence—and decades later, they still set the standard for what glamorous hair looks like today.

Were Ponytails Popular in the '50s?

Yes, ponytails were definitely a thing in the '50s—but they weren’t sleek and sporty like today. Instead, they were "styled with softness and volume," says Diaz, who notes that "accessories were often used to complete the look," like bows or scarves.

Hairstyles in this decade prioritized "polish, femininity and structure," with soft waves lifting the roots and carefully shaped shorter cuts adding dimension. Whether hair was long or short, the goal was always a smooth finish and a style that held its shape all day. Hollywood icons turned these looks into lasting beauty standards, proving that even a simple ponytail could be glamorous and undeniably chic.

How To Tease Hair '50s Style

Volume was a defining feature of hair in this era, giving every style—from bouffants to soft waves—that instantly glamorous, larger-than-life feel. "For authentic '50s volume, I prefer using a large brush rather than a teasing comb," says Diaz. "Big brushes create fuller, more glamorous lift." He recommends a brush like the La Bonne Brosse N°01, which builds height while keeping hair soft and touchable.

To get the classic crown lift, take sections at the top of the head and gently brush backward toward the scalp. Once the volume is in place, "lightly smooth the surface without flattening the shape," Diaz explains, and finish with a strong-hold hairspray to lock in that signature old-school charm. The result is hair that feels airy, polished and effortlessly red-carpet ready.

What Were Popular '50s Hair Colors?

"Hair color in the 1950's focused on shine and richness," says Diaz. Hues like "platinum blonde, deep brunette and warm honey tones were especially popular," he adds, "with an emphasis on healthy, glossy hair."

These luminous shades weren’t just about color—they gave every style extra dimension and movement, whether paired with a glossy pixie, sculpted curls or a sleek bob. Even the simplest cut felt elevated when the tone was vibrant and the hair was glossy from root to tip, making color a key part of the decade’s most iconic looks.

7 Best '50s Hairstyles, According to a Celebrity Stylist 1. Old Hollywood Waves

Marilyn Monroe practically invented the red-carpet wave. These "soft glamorous waves" basically defined Old Hollywood glamour "and remain one of the most requested red carpet styles today," says Diaz.

To recreate the look at home, curl hair with a one-inch iron in the same direction, let it cool, then brush through for smooth, cascading waves. Finish with flexible hairspray, like Chris McMillan The Major Shine Hairspray, and add a touch of shine on the ends. Diaz notes this style "works best on hair that is smooth and lightly layered," giving waves that natural, effortless flow.

2. Polished Pixie

While long waves and curls dominated much of the decade, Elizabeth Taylor proved that short hair could be just as elegant and striking. Her polished pixie instantly drew attention to her facial features—Diaz notes that this cut "beautifully highlights the eyes, cheekbones, and jawline"—making it a favorite among women who wanted a bold, confident look.

To modernize it at home, a small amount of Not Your Mother's All Eyes on Me Styling Hair Treatment Cream through strands enhances texture while keeping movement soft. The result is chic and effortlessly feminine.

3. Half-Up Curls

Mark and Colleen Hayward/Getty Images

The half-up curl was all about striking the perfect balance between lift and softness, something Brigitte Bardot did effortlessly. Diaz notes that "volume at the crown paired with soft length created a romantic, effortless silhouette," a technique that kept the style looking polished without stiff perfection.

To modernize, focus on those loose, face-framing strands for added movement, using texturizing spray to maintain natural body. It’s a style that still reads timeless today—airy, approachable and full of life.

4. Voluminous Pony

Getty

Ponytails in the 1950s "were feminine and full rather than sleek or sporty," and that soft, lifted shape gave even a simple style instant personality. To achieve that signature vintage vibe, Diaz suggests, create "lift at the crown before securing the ponytail."

To perfect this is surprisingly easy, too. Simply smooth strands lightly before securing with your trusty hair tie "and finish with medium-hold hairspray." Diaz recommends the Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Hairspray for the best hold. Adding "a ribbon or accessor" completes the look, giving it playful flair while staying true to the decade’s iconic, full-bodied approach.

5. The Bouffant

Evelyn Hofer/Condé Nast via Getty Images

Ruby Lele-Mor Roy’s bouffant is a quintessential '50s silhouette, instantly recognizable for its lifted crown and polished shape. Diaz explains that the bouffant "defined the era with its dramatic yet elegant volume," a style built on intentional structure rather than random height.

The look was achieved by working in sections at the crown, gradually building shape, and finishing with strong-hold hairspray to lock in the silhouette. Its charm lies in the balance—voluminous enough to feel glamorous, but refined enough to stay wearable. Even today, the bouffant translates beautifully for anyone seeking a retro-inspired look that’s bold, dimensional and full of personality.

6. Glassy Bob

John Springer Collection/CORBIS/Corbis via Getty Images

Natalie Wood made the sleek, glass-like bob a standout alternative to the voluminous styles dominating the decade. Its smooth, polished ends created a refined frame for the face, offering a sharp, structured counterpoint to softer waves. Diaz notes that attention to "clean blunt ends" is crucial for keeping the look precise and intentional.

By pairing a round-brush blowout with smoothing cream and a few spritz of Kevin Murphy Shimmer Shine spray, the bob achieves that glossy, cinematic finish. Even decades later, this style remains a chic, versatile choice for anyone seeking an elegant yet low-fuss statement cut.

7. Cropped With Headband

Warner Bros/Sunset Boulevard/Corbis via Getty Images

Cropped cuts paired with a headband captured the playful, youthful side of 1950s hair while still feeling intentional, a balance Audrey Hepburn mastered effortlessly. The short length keeps things fresh and light, while the accessory does the heavy lifting, framing the face and giving the style its signature charm.

Diaz emphasizes that it’s important to "keep texture relaxed so it feels wearable," which is why a soft finish and a bit of natural movement matter more than perfection here. A simple accessory adds structure without overwhelming the cut, proving that even the shortest styles could feel expressive, feminine and unmistakably of the era.

Popular Dairy-Free Milk Brand Drops Delicious New Coffee Creamers With Nothing Artificial

Sun, 02/08/2026 - 6:25am

As more shoppers cut back on dairy and ultra-processed ingredients, coffee creamers have become a surprising sticking point. Many nondairy options promise a rich, cafe-style sip but rely on oils, gums or vague "natural flavors" to achieve it. For anyone who wants a smoother pour without a chemistry lesson, a new launch from a fan-favorite plant-based beverage brand is aiming to raise the bar for what a dairy-free creamer can look like.

The latest drop comes from Malk, the popular dairy-free milk brand known for its minimalist ingredient lists. Building on the success of its almond milk creamers, the company has just introduced a new line of coconut-based coffee creamers designed to keep things simple. The lineup includes vanilla, sweet cream and unsweetened, each made with organic coconut milk and nothing artificial. There are no oils, gums, fillers or mystery flavors here, which is exactly why shoppers are already buzzing about them.

What Makes These Creamers Different View this post on Instagram

Malk's new creamers are all about a clean-label approach that doesn't sacrifice flavor or texture. Each variety is USDA Organic, non-GMO and glyphosate residue-free, making them an easy swap for anyone prioritizing ingredient transparency. The coconut milk base delivers a naturally rich mouthfeel, giving coffee that creamy finish many dairy-free options struggle to replicate.

Fans of the brand are especially excited about the launch. Early online reactions have been overwhelmingly positive, with commenters calling out how well the flavors blend into lattes and iced coffee without overpowering the brew.

Where to Find Them and Why Coffee Drinkers Are Excited

The new creamers are rolling out now in refrigerated sections across the U.S. They're currently available at major retailers such as Albertsons, Sprouts, Target and Whole Foods. That wider availability is good news for anyone who's already a fan of Malk's almond milk or who's been searching for a dairy-free creamer that actually tastes good without shortcuts.

This launch also reflects a bigger shift in how shoppers approach plant-based products. More people want dairy-free options that feel intentional rather than over-engineered, especially for everyday staples like coffee. By leaning into coconut milk and skipping unnecessary additives, Malk is tapping into that demand in a way that feels thoughtful and timely.

If you're someone who takes their coffee seriously or wants a cleaner option to start the day, these new creamers are worth a look. They prove that dairy-free doesn't have to mean compromised flavor, and that sometimes less really is more when it comes to what's in your cup.

Lindsey Vonn Involved in Horrific Crash at Olympic Games: Video

Sun, 02/08/2026 - 6:11am

Lindsey Vonn crashed during a run at the Winter Olympics on Sunday, Feb. 8. The crash was so bad that Vonn needed to be taken off the mountain by a helicopter.

The 41-year-old was just 13 seconds into her run in the women’s downhill event when she crashed into the snow. Her body appeared to flip around before she finally landed. In video of the crash, Vonn appeared to be in a good amount of pain. According to People magazine, Vonn was heard yelling "oh my God" in the aftermath.

Vonn had been cleared to ski in The Games after tearing her ACL less than two weeks prior. Vonn had been competing in the women’s World Cup in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, on Friday, January 30, when that accident occurred. She was airlifted to a nearby hospital where doctors delivered her a big blow.

"This is a very difficult outcome one week before the Olympics… but if there’s one thing I know how to do, it’s a comeback. My Olympic dream is not over. Thank you for all of the love and support. I will give more information when I have it," Vonn wrote on Instagram after the crash. Nevertheless, Vonn decided that she would be able to compete in Italy, representing Team USA.

One day before she hit the slopes in Italy, Vonn shared a message of hope on her Instagram feed.

"Tomorrow: One last Olympic downhill run," he post began. "Just getting to these Olympics has been a journey, and one that some did not believe in from the start. I retired for 6 years, and because of a partial knee replacement, I had the chance to compete one more time. But why? Everyone seems to be asking me that question. But I think the answer is simple… I just love ski racing."

"I will stand in the starting gate tomorrow and know I am strong. Know that I believe in myself. Know that the odds are stacked against me with my age, no ACL, and a titanium knee- but know that I still believe. And usually, when the odds are stacked against me the most, I pull the best of what’s inside me out," she continued, adding, "I will race tomorrow in my final Olympic Downhill and while I can’t guarantee a good result, I can guarantee I will give it everything I have. But no matter what happens, I have already won."

JetBlue Is Now Selling Day Passes to Its BlueHouse Lounge

Sun, 02/08/2026 - 6:10am

JetBlue flyers passing through New York’s JFKnow have a new way to upgrade their airport experience—without elite status or a long-term membership.

According to The Points Guy, JetBlue has begun offering a limited number of one-day passes to its BlueHouse lounge at John F. Kennedy International Airport, marking a notable shift for an airline that only opened its first-ever lounge late last year. Up until now, BlueHouse access has been tightly held for JetBlue’s top-tier Mosaic members, JetBlue’s premium, annual-fee credit card (the JetBlue Premier Card) or passengers flying the airline’s Mint business class on transatlantic routes. This new option opens the door—at least a little wider.

Now, one-time access costs $59 per person for Mosaic 3 members and passengers flying Mint on nontransatlantic routes, while Mosaic 1 and 2 members pay $79 per person. Starting later this week, JetBlue will also allow JetBlue Plus Card and JetBlue Business Card holders to purchase a day pass for $79, according to The Points Guy. Guests aren’t included automatically: travelers with complimentary lounge access can bring one free guest, with additional guests costing $39 each, while transatlantic Mint passengers pay $39 per guest. All guests must also be flying JetBlue on a same-day ticket and Blue Basic fares remain excluded.

Related: JetBlue's Next Plane is Basically a Flying Love Letter to the Dominican Republic

View this post on Instagram

The move appears designed to give more travelers a chance to sample JetBlue’s lounge concept on a one-off basis, rather than committing to elite status or premium cards. That said, it’s not a free-for-all. According to The Points Guy, day passes come with restrictions: travelers flying on JetBlue’s lowest Basic fares aren’t eligible, and access depends on itinerary type and frequent flyer status. In other words, this seems to be a targeted trial, not a blanket policy change.

BlueHouse itself debuted at JFK’s Terminal 5 in December, becoming a milestone for JetBlue as its first branded airport lounge. Located near Gate 526, the space is open daily from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. and is designed to feel more like a calm living room than a traditional airline club. Guests of the lounge are treated to residential touches, work-friendly seating, quiet zones and curated art—paired with food and drinks that go beyond grab-and-go snacks.

Related: JetBlue is Adding New Ways to Reach This Caribbean Island Hot Spot

Inside, guests can expect freshly prepared meals created by Union Square Events, a full bar with cocktails, wine and local beers, plus quality coffee and tea options. Amenities include Wi-Fi, private restrooms, quiet areas for relaxation, a games and TV room, and even a photo booth—small details that make longer airport waits more pleasant.

The timing isn’t accidental. According to Simple Flying, data from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey shows JetBlue served more than 14.8 million passengers at JFK between October 2024 and September 2025, making it the airport’s second-largest airline with a 23.4% market share. Offering limited lounge access could be a smart way to stand out in one of the country’s busiest hubs.

And JFK is just the beginning. JetBlue has already announced plans to open a second BlueHouse lounge in Boston later this year, signaling that airport comfort may become a bigger part of the airline’s identity going forward—for frequent flyers and curious first-timers alike.

Over the past few days, several new details and potential leads have emerged in Nancy's case, including video of a vehicle of interest that was submitted to law enforcement. Law enforcement also made a strategic move across several states as the search neared a week.

On Feb. 1, the Pima County Sheriff's Department (PCSD) launched a search for Nancy, who was last seen on the evening of Saturday, Jan. 31, at her home. The PCSD declared her Tucson residence a crime scene and determined that she had been “taken” from her residence “against her will.” Additionally, law enforcement confirmed that the blood discovered at Nancy’s home belonged to the 84-year-old.

Since then, investigators have returned to Savannah’s mom’s home several times, including with K9 units. Nancy has still not been found after looking into multiple ransom notes and issuing video messages to the captors through Savannah.

Those with any information about Nancy’s missing case are advised to contact the FBI tip line at 1-800-CALL-FBI.

7 Best Airport Shoes, According to Celebrity Stylists

Sun, 02/08/2026 - 5:45am

Parade aims to feature only the best products and services. If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

Airport and travel days demand a lot from your shoes. Between long, unpredictable walks through terminals, slipping pairs on and off at security and the occasional sprint to the gate, comfort and ease are nonnegotiable. When you’re packing carry-on only or working with limited space, every pair also has to pull double duty—balancing function with style.

To find the airport shoes that truly deliver, we spoke with celebrity and wardrobe stylists and fashion experts Corinne Pierre-Louis and Shane Clark, both of whom travel frequently worldwide for work. I also included a few of my own tried-and-true favorites, drawn from years of frequent flying and testing fashion and travel gear as a trends and shopping editor for outlets such as Martha Stewart Weddings and Travel + Leisure.

As Pierre-Louis puts it, “The last thing you want is to be stuck trekking to your gate in uncomfortable footwear. Not to mention, starting a trip on sore feet sets the wrong vibe. As a rule of thumb, always opt for comfortable, supportive and well-fitted shoes when traveling, particularly for long-haul trips.”

Ahead, seven airport shoe styles that handle real travel days without sacrificing style.

A cushioned white sneaker is one of the hardest-working shoes in any travel wardrobe. This New Balance pair has the plush, cloud-like feel people love for everything, but with a cleaner silhouette that looks polished enough for airport outfits that lean more elevated than athleisure. “Traveling often for work has taught me one thing: pack light, pack smart, and never underestimate your shoes,” says Shane Clark. “I love these crisp white sneakers that go from the airport to a lunch meeting and even the gym.”

Best Slip-On Sneaker: Naturalizer Marianne Slip-On Sneaker

Slip-on sneakers are especially practical for travel days when you’re moving quickly through terminals and want a shoe that works with multiple outfits. “Naturalizer’s Marianne Slip-On Sneaker is a great airport shoe because it’s comfortable, practical and easy to wear with just about anything,” says Corinne Pierre-Louis. "The slip-on style also makes going through security less stressful, which is always a win on travel days, especially when you’re traveling with multiple suitcases and family members.”

Best Boat Shoes: Bibi Lou Boat Shoes

Boat shoes have always been in style and this modern version feels especially travel-friendly. Lightweight and easy to walk in, they’re ideal for warm-weather trips when you want something breathable that still looks put together ."Boat shoes are such an easy, underrated travel option. They’re perfect if you want footwear that feels slightly elevated but still casual, without having to default to ballet flats," says Pierre-Louis.

Best Loafers: Sam Edelman Loraine Bit Loafer

A polished loafer is one of the easiest ways to elevate a comfortable airport outfit. “It’s a chic loafer that pairs with jeans, skirts, or even sweats,” says Shane Clark. “Style them with a blazer or classic trench, and even a casual outfit instantly feels polished.”

Best Flats: Larroude Verona Macrame Raffia Flats

This style is ideal if you’re headed somewhere sunny with tropical weather. Traveling through the airport in sandals is a risk I usually avoid due to running between gates, unexpected delays, and the need for foot protection. These Larroudé flats are stylish while keeping your feet fully covered, and the raffia detail adds breathability that works especially well for beach-appropriate looks. They’re also incredibly comfortable thanks to the memory foam cushioning.

Best Clogs: Rothys The Casual Clog

When in doubt, clogs are one of the easiest shoes to travel in. I like wearing them with thin socks and treating them almost like elevated slippers you can walk in all day. This pair is one of my favorites because the contoured footbed provides real support, which is very helpful for long airport days. They’re easy to slip on and off, comfortable for travel, and especially useful when you’re in and out of your hotel room or heading straight from the airport to your destination.

Best Boots: VIVAIA Square-Toe Water-Repellent Ankle Boots

For loyal boot wearers, this is one of the most comfortable pairs I’ve worn on trips and at the airport when I’m heading somewhere cold with unpredictable weather. They provide full coverage without feeling heavy, and the water-repellent finish is key when you want protection without packing clunky rain boots.

Jelly Roll's 'Dream' for the Super Bowl Halftime Show Is Drawing Some Unexpected Backlash

Sun, 02/08/2026 - 5:17am

With plenty of controversy surrounding the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show with headliner Bad Bunny, country star Jelly Roll was asked about his vision for the major TV moment.

While chatting with Entertainment Weekly at the Grammy Awards, Jelly Roll revealed who he'd like to see take the NFL stage next.

"The Super Bowl could possibly come to Nashville in the next three to five years," he began, adding, "We're getting a new stadium, and I have a dream that they do a country music-themed halftime show."

"And maybe perhaps they'll let me just do a little 20 or 30-second thing in it," he added, throwing his name into the ring.

As for which artists he'd love to see, he named country icons like Tim McGraw, Garth Brooks, Reba McEntire, andDolly Parton.

"I would love to see the country legends and some of the new dogs like Morgan Wallen, Hardy," he expressed, adding he'd love to see "some of the new garner come in."

"So yeah, I think that's my dream. Kenny Chesney, and maybe they'd let me come out and do a verse of something," he added.

His wife, Bunnie XO, leaned over to add her two cents, stating, Megan Moroney and Ella Langley, which Jelly wholeheartedly agreed with, before adding LaineyWilson and "all of our friends."

"But yeah, I'd love to see a country music themed halftime show that just kind of involved the whole community," he concluded.

See the video here.

His statements, however, were hit with some unexpected backlash, in the comments, with many stating that a country music show would be skew political, with one suggesting, "He doesnt want to talk about politics but this is very political."

Related: Jelly Roll Sparks Debate With His Response to Political Question on Grammys Red Carpet

"Country music isn’t global like the NFL and Bad Bunny," someone else chimed in, as another expressed, "That sounds so boring 😂."

"Soooo the CMAs…" another suggested, as someone noted, "Only yes to Dolly" and another stated, "We good."

A few came to his defense, with one writing, "C’mon guys givem a break… I’m Latina and am super happy about Bad Bunny but would also love Garth, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Zach Bryan, Tyler Childers… Church… Shaboozie, Lanie! I love both Genres!"

Another expressed, "Amen! Mix it up! Rotate years between music genres! And also make sure the performances are family friendly to view," while someone else had a suggestion, writing, "Love that idea🔥 Dolly and Beyonce could do Jolene🐝🐝🐝."

2003 was the last time a country artist was featured on the Super Bowl Halftime Show, when Shania Twain performed alongside No Doubt and Sting, singing hits like "Man! I Feel Like a Woman!" and "Up!"

Country acts have been featured more often singing the National Anthem or performing during the pre-game, so Jelly Roll may be onto something, even if the full 15-minute performance wouldn't be solely dedicated to the country genre.

While Bad Bunny is set to take the stage on Feb. 8, 2026, bringing Latin music to the world, the choice sparked plenty of backlash as well, with Turning Point USA, the conservative organization founded by late activist Charlie Kirk, announcing an "alternative" show with only country acts.

Turning Point USA’s “All-American Halftime Show”—set to rival the NFL's—will feature the following performers: Kid RockBrantley GilbertLee Brice and Gabby Barrett.

A U.S. Theme Park Has Just Claimed the World’s Tallest Roller Coaster Loop

Sun, 02/08/2026 - 5:10am

If you’ve already heard that Six Flags Over Texas is building a record-breaking new coaster, here’s the update that makes it feel real: the park has officially completed the tallest vertical roller coaster loop ever constructed.

This week, Six Flags Over Texas announced that the massive steel loop for Tormenta Rampaging Run is now in place—an 18-story structure that rises 179 feet into the air and marks a major construction milestone ahead of the ride’s 2026 debut. To mark the moment, the park staged a nighttime countdown, lighting the finished loop in vivid red and briefly turning the North Texas skyline into a glowing teaser for what’s coming.

“Tonight, Texas raised the bar for thrill rides around the world,” said Park Manager Mark Boyer. “The completion of the world’s tallest vertical loop is a once-in-a-generation engineering achievement and a bold sign of what’s ahead when Tormenta Rampaging Run opens later this year.”

Tormenta has been on coaster fans’ radar for months, and construction has already cleared major benchmarks. But this week’s update is a standout: The loop alone now holds the world record for tallest of its kind, pushing Tormenta closer to fully realizing multiple global firsts when it opens, including status as the world’s first and only giga dive coaster.

According to Six Flags, the loop’s completion means the ride is now more than halfway through vertical construction. Drone footage and ground-level video released by the park show just how dominant the structure already is, even before the rest of the track is installed.

Related: Six Flags Just Opened a New World-First Coaster—And It's Flying Under the Radar

“This milestone marks the moment Tormenta became a true skyline icon,” Boyer said. “We cannot wait for guests to experience the full power of this one-of-a-kind thrill machine.”

When finished, Tormenta Rampaging Run is expected to stand 309 feet tall, reach speeds of 87 miles per hour, and break six world records overall—putting it among the most extreme roller coasters ever constructed.

Along the way, riders will pass through the tallest vertical coaster loop ever constructed at 179 feet and climb into the highest Immelmann inversion on record at 218 feet—while stretching more than 4,100 feet to become the longest of its kind. It's a combination of elements that places Tormenta in rare, record-setting territory even before its first riders board.

For now, though, this isn’t just concept art anymore. One of the most ambitious roller coasters ever built in the U.S. just locked in its most eye-catching feature—and it’s already towering over Texas.

I Tried the Viral Hot Onion Dip and Figured Out How To Make It Even Better

Sun, 02/08/2026 - 5:04am

Although the Super Bowl is technically about football, for many of us it's more about the food. The championship Sunday is the perfect excuse to whip up crispy wings, loaded nachos, creamy dips and more to create a full-blown snacking experience. Of course, even if you're not a huge sports fan, you don't want to be stuck in the kitchen during the big game, so that's why quick, easy and delicious recipes are key.

Case in point: the viral hot onion dip that's been all over my TikTok feed. The simple snack requires just three ingredients and is ready to go with minimal prep, which makes it perfect for Super Bowl Sunday recipe? Once the dip is baked and bubbly, you can serve it straight from the casserole dish or scoop it into a bread bowl for a fun throwback snack.

As the designated Super Bowl snack-maker for my family, as soon as I saw the recipe on social media, I knew I had to give it a try. But I quickly realized that it's a polarizing snack that not everyone can get behind—or will even try—due to one of the main ingredients.

My solution? Making the viral hot onion dip two ways. First, I followed the original recipe that everyone's talking about, and then I replaced one of the core ingredients and made a second version. Based on what I discovered from making both recipes, there are pros and cons to both. Here's what I learned during this dip adventure.

What Is the Viral Hot Onion Dip and What Are People Saying About It?

Courtesy Korin Miller

The viral hot onion dip recipe was originally crafted by recipe developer and Amazon Live host Melissa Kauper. She's posted about it for game day and holiday snacking and and plays up the fact that the dip requires just three ingredients: onions, mayonnaise and Swiss cheese (and salt and pepper, but those are freebies in our book). The end result, based on her post, is an ultra-creamy, cheesy and onion-infused dip, one that she particularly likes to pair with pretzel bites.

While Kauper really sells the dip and how easy it is to make, the comments on both her Instagram and TikTok posts are split. Some commenters don't like the fact that the dip calls for so much mayonnaise, while others express their dislike for Swiss cheese. Others yet complain that their dip separates once baked or that it simply comes out of the oven too oily.

Of course, there are also plenty of people who love the dip. "Literally the best dip ever. And so easy," one TikTok commenter wrote. "Brought it to every family function lately!" Others expressed love for the dip but suggested upgrades to make it even better, like caramelizing the onions first or adding Parmesan cheese. Because of this great divide among commenters, I was even more cuious to give it a try.

This recipe is incredibly easy to make. Start by preheating your oven to 350°F. Next, dice two large onions and set them aside. After that, grate a block of Swiss cheese.

Combine those ingredients in a bowl before adding two cups (!) of mayonnaise. Add salt and pepper to taste, then transfer the mixture to a baking dish. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the dip is bubbling and the top is browned.

Once your dip comes out of the oven, you may want to blot some of the excess oil off the top. Then, it's time to dig in.

What To Serve With Hot Onion Dip

Kauper recommends serving hot onion dip with French bread or pretzel bites, but just about any type of bread works here. You can also try serving it with full-sized pretzels, hard pretzels (the ones from a bag) or veggies like carrots or peppers.

Chips would also work well with the dip, and there's a good chance you'll already have plenty of options to pair with the rest of your Super Bowl spread. Potato chips, tortilla chips, or Fritos would all be great.

My Honest Thoughts About the Viral Hot Onion Dip

Courtesy Korin Miller

If a creamy, cheesy and oniony dip is what you're after, this is a solid option. But we need to address the elephant in the room: This dip contains mayonnaise, and a lot of it. If you hate mayo, there's no way you'll like this dip. The mayonnaise flavor and consistency are there, and it's hard to miss.

Because mayonnaise is such a polarizing ingredient (and so many people are mayo-averse), this dip isn't guaranteed to be a crowd-pleaser. I couldn't get a single person to even sample the dip after I revealed that there was mayonnaise in it—and I tried to give it to five different adults. It could be that my social group just isn't into mayo or it may be that the condiment has just fallen out of favor. Whatever the deal, this dip was a hard sell.

To be fair, I found this dip to be tasty. I'd consider myself mayo-neutral, so the thought of a mayo-based dip didn't scare me. I found the dip to be rich and creamy and perfectly acceptable. But again, you can't miss the mayonnaise.

For a more crowd-pleasing take, I decided to tweak the recipe. Instead of using two cups of mayonnaise, I swapped in two cups of plain Greek yogurt. This simple substitution definitely improved the dip in my opinion. It was a little more tangy and a little less creamy, but it had a similar flavor profile and using yogurt instead of mayo bumped up the protein, which might appeal to some eaters. Once I just called it "hot onion dip" and revealed my secret ingredient, people were happy to try it. I really liked this version and even set some aside that I reheated the next day.

Also worth noting: While some commenters in Kauper's recipe post wanted a substitute for Swiss cheese, I found that it blended nicely with the other ingredients. It didn't thinkn it had a super Swiss-forward taste, so even if you don't typically reach for Swiss cheese, you might still like it in this recipe. That said, if Swiss is a non-starter you can always sub in your favorite cheese.

5 Tips and Tricks for Making Hot Onion Dip

This dip is simple and also versatile. You can add or omit ingredients, or make special swaps to really make it your own. Here are some of my thoughts on doing just that.

1. Consider swapping out the mayo

If you love mayo, more power to you. But if you're not a fan or are planning to make dip for a crowd that's iffy about mayo, Greek yogurt is a solid swap. Alternatively, you could go half-and-half on mayo and Green yogurt (or sour cream) for a dip that isn't quite so mayo-heavy.

2. Experiment with cheeses

The Swiss cheese works well here, but you can toss in additional cheeses like Parmesan or mozzarella for added complexity. You could also omit the Swiss entirely and opt for something a little more neutral, like cheddar.

3. Get creative with the mix-ins

Bacon and scallions would make for great mix-in options (or toppers) for the dip. But other creative ingredients, like roasted garlic, jalapeño or cayenne pepper would also work.

4. Make sure the onions are finely diced

I'm admittedly not the best at dicing, and I had some solid onion chunks in there. While I didn't mind the occasional big onion piece, the finer you chop the onions, the smoother your dip will be.

5. Keep it warm

This dip is tasty no matter how you serve it, but it really shines when it's nice and hot. To keep it as warm as possible, you might want to serve it in a Crock-Pot set on low.

Prince William & Kate Middleton Interesting Facts

Sun, 02/08/2026 - 4:30am

Prince William and Kate Middleton have been rock solid since the early aughts, and they've weathered some seriously tough times together: The death of Queen Elizabeth II, a very public beef with Prince Harry, King Charles III's cancer and Princess Catherine's own battle with the disease.

Obviously, they've also had some seriously stellar times too, like their royal wedding, welcoming their three children and, you know, being crowned Prince and Princess of Wales and thereby becoming billionaires. (Must be nice!)

Prince William's Career

While Prince William was literally born into his career as a British royal and heir to the throne, he's kept busy since college.

William was named a Counsellor of State when he turned 21 years old. In January 2006, he began his military career at Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, eventually serving in the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force, largely in search and rescue operations.

Throughout this time, Prince William was also still considered, to some degree, a "working royal": Queen Elizabeth II established his and brother Prince Harry's first private joint office in 2009, and he began going on royal tours in January 2010.

In 2015, Prince William began working as a pilot with the East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA) in Cambridge, donating all of his salary to the EAAA charity. He stepped down from the role in 2017 to focus fulltime on royal duties, first as the Duke of Cambridge, then after Queen Elizabeth II's deathin September 2022, as the Prince of Wales.

Kate Middleton’s Career

While a student at St. Andrew's, Middleton worked as a waitress parttime and was a member of the Lumsden Club, a community service organization.

In 2006, Middleton worked as an accessories buyer for Jigsaw, a clothing store chain in the U.K. She also worked in mom Carole's Party Pieces business as a project manager, focusing on the company's digital presence. After marrying Prince William in 2011, she focused fulltime on her duties as a working royal.

Prince William and Kate Middleton met as students at the University of St. Andrew's, but their relationship was purely platonic at first.

"I think you said I actually went bright red when I met you and [that I] sort of scuttled off," Kate recalled to William in their 2010 ITV engagement interview. "[I was] feeling very shy about meeting you."

The pair developed a friendship, and their mutual interests, as well as their mutual friends, strengthened their bond.

In March 2002, Kate Middleton modeled for a charity fashion show at St. Andrew's, rocking a completely sheer mini dress (that the designer later said was originally meant to be a skirt!) over a bandeau and briefs. Prince William reportedly paid about $270 (close to $500 when adjusted for inflation!) for a front-row ticket to the event, which was titled "The Art of Seduction." The Mirror reported that after William saw Kate rock the runway, he told pals, "Wow, Kate's hot!"

The event is widely believed to be what took their relationship from platonic to romantic, with the pair getting serious that May and moving in together with friends that October.

2003: Kate Middleton and Prince William move in together solo.

As their romance blossomed further, Prince William and Kate Middleton moved in together privately instead of cohabiting with other friends and roommates. They each later recalled William's attempts to woo her with his skills in the kitchen.

"When I was trying to impress Kate, I was trying to cook these amazing fancy dinners," he told ITV. "And all that would happen was, I would burn something, something would overspill, something would catch on fire, and she'd be sitting in the background just trying to help and [then] taking control of the whole situation."

For her part, Kate is generous with her assessment of her husband's culinary work.

In A Very Berry Christmas in 2019, she told host Mary Berry that William still "sometimes" cooks for the family.

"He’s very good at breakfast. In our university days he used to cook all sorts of meals. I think that’s when he was trying to impress me, Mary," she added with a giggle. "Things like Bolognese sauce."

In April 2004, The Sunpublished photos of Prince William and Kate Middleton looking cozy together on a ski vacation, and Kate became a household name worldwide immediately. That doesn't mean that they were comfortable with the intrusion, however, and The Guardian reported that the palace banned the tabloid from covering official royal events after the snapshots were published.

Despite the rest of the globe being fascinated with their romance, William and Kate made it work for several years. Kate and her family supported William at his Royal Military Academy Sandhurst graduation in December 2006, which was her very first royal event (and which the Queen also attended!). Kate's attendance was basically a huge deal, because it confirmed that he'd introduced her to his family.

Another reason Kate's appearance made headlines? Her bright red coat and big black hat evoked an ensemble that the late Princess Diana wore for Christmas at Sandringham in 1991.

April 2007-June 2007: Kate Middleton and Prince William split, then reunite.

Despite charming the royals and most of the world, Kate Middleton felt the scrutiny she faced was overwhelming, leading her and Prince William to amicably split in April 2007.

Just two months later, however, they reconciled after reportedly sharing a "passionate kiss" at a party in his barracks that June.

"We did split up for a bit, but that was just — we were both very young, it was at university and we were both sort of defining ourselves as such and being different characters and stuff," Prince William later explained to ITV. "It was very much trying to find our own way and we were growing up."

The pair have gone strong ever since reuniting.

October 20, 2010: Prince William and Kate Middleton get engaged.

"Waity Katie" no more! Though they didn't announce their engagement until the following month, Prince William popped the question to Kate Middleton on Oct. 20, 2010, during a trip to Kenya with friends.

"I just decided that it was the right time, really," William told ITV. "We'd been talking about marriage for a while, so it wasn't a massively big surprise, but I took her up somewhere nice in Kenya, and I proposed ... It just felt really right to ask in Africa, beautiful time, and I had done a little bit of planning of sorts to share my romantic side."

The couple formally announced the good news on Nov. 16, 2010, with the official royal proclamation noting that William asked Kate's father for her hand ahead of proposing.

After their engagement became public, Kate began accompanying William to make official royal appearances ahead of their wedding.

Japan Cancels a Beloved Cherry Blossom Festival as Tourism Hits Record Highs

Sun, 02/08/2026 - 4:10am

Japan’s cherry blossom season has become one of the world’s most photographed travel moments—and that popularity is now forcing hard decisions on the ground.

Tourism to Japan has surged dramatically over the past few years, fueled by a weak yen and pent-up post-pandemic demand. In 2025 alone, more than 42 million international visitors traveled to the country, setting a new all-time record and surpassing 2024’s already historic totals. What was once a seasonal draw has turned into a year-round wave, with spring’s cherry blossoms acting as the peak.

This week, that pressure came into sharp focus in Fujiyoshida, a city in Yamanashi Prefecture known for its postcard views of Mount Fuji framed by cherry trees and a five-story pagoda. Local officials announced the cancellation of the city’s annual cherry blossom festival, a week-long event that typically draws around 200,000 visitors. The reason wasn’t weather or logistics—it was quality of life.

Related: 7 Places in the World Everyone Should Visit Once, According to Travel Host Darley Newman

In Japan’s springtime, crowds gather to see cherry blossoms at some of the country’s most famous viewpoints. At Arakurayama Sengen Park near Mount Fuji, lines of visitors often stretch hundreds of meters as people climb the hillside stairs for a glimpse of the iconic pagoda framed by sakura.

Alvin Huang

City leaders said the scale of tourism had begun to overwhelm residents, citing chronic traffic congestion, littering, trespassing and behavior that crossed from disruptive into deeply disrespectful. In a statement explaining the decision, Fujiyoshida’s mayor said the city faced a “strong sense of crisis,” noting that behind the celebrated scenery was the reality of daily life becoming increasingly difficult for locals.

Related: 7 Best Destinations for Solo Travelers, According to Darley Newman

The decision reflects a broader reckoning happening across Japan. In Kyoto, another springtime magnet, officials have struggled with overcrowding and complaints about tourists harassing geisha performers for photos. Other towns near Mount Fuji have experimented with physical barriers to block popular photo angles, hiking caps and entry fees—measures once unthinkable in a country known for welcoming visitors with open arms.

Even with the festival officially canceled, Fujiyoshida expects crowds to continue. The park where the event is usually held remains open, and Mount Fuji’s pull is perennial. Officials acknowledge that cancellation alone won’t make the crowds disappear—but they hope it sends a message about boundaries.
